Charles is getting the same medal as a horse!

"Jake, shhhh!" Amy says again. "Your best friend is getting a Medal of Valour, you'd think you'd be a little more sensitive!"

"Charles is getting the same medal as a horse!" he repeats, giggling like a schoolboy. "Because he got shot in the butt!"

She wants to ignore him, but his childlike chortling is contagious. And before she knows it, she too is snickering behind hands. Holt glares at them, but it does nothing to deter their giggles.

"He got shot in the butt!"

"Yeah, defending your ass!" Rosa shoves him and glares at Amy, and she bites her lip.

But it was one of those moments that seemed funnier the longer you had to pretend to be quiet (Amy likened it to the one and only time her brother David got in trouble, and was lectured by their strict, Cuban parents. She and her six other brothers had to be quiet, and yet the longer they stayed silent the more hilarious it seemed), and the moment she and Peralta were out those doors, he burst into belly laughs.

Jake's laughter was one of the most contagious things, and she was laughing too.
