A Sensation of Incompleteness

Nicole grabbed a steaming cup of tea off of the replicator. She sipped it as she walked to Data's desk to finish up her report for Commander Laforge.

Data was a mission while Nicole stayed back on the Enterprise. So it was lonely not having him around. It was quiet too since by now he would be either painting or practicing his violin.

"Bridge to Nicole Soong. A subspace message coming in for you, sir."

"Thank you Bridge. I will take it in here." Nicole said.

Nicole thought about who would've sent her a message while she tapped her fingers on the console. She almost spilled her tea when a certain android's face appeared on the screen.

"Data!" Nicole said excitedly.

"Hello my dear Nicole." Although he didn't bring his emotion chip with him, he gave her a smile.

Nicole smiled back with tears in her eyes as the message continued.

"How are you my dear? Are you well? I find myself thinking about you. I have a sensation of incompleteness brought on by your absence, Nikki."

Nicole wiped the tears that started to fall. She missed him too.

"It is unsatisfactory leaving you for a long period of time, my dear. I regret to inform you though that I still have another 2 weeks 8 days before I return to the Enterprise. We will have dinner and an evening together when I return though."

"I will like that very much." Nicole said quietly. She had to wait 2 more weeks before she saw him.

"Commander Data, you are needed." A female voice off camera said. It sounded like the officer in charge.

Data looked off camera. "One moment. I am almost done."

He then turned his attention back to the camera. "I must go my dear. I do not wish to leave you knowing that you are probably upset. However, I care a lot about you. And I will see you again in 2 weeks and 8 days, my dear Nicole."

Data blew a kiss into the screen and Nicole did a motion as if she caught it. Someone must've told him to do that since he could not physically kiss her. Although, kissing and cuddling him would be better than them being apart like this.

Nicole cried softly as the screen went black. She missed him so much!
