Title: Changing For The Better

Summary: Due to some interfering witches, a hot night between Katherine and Stefan results in her being pregnant. Stefan starts off by forgiving her and eventually falls in love. Katherine starts off by trying to get Stefan and then she ends up changing. Elena is not happy about any of it. Steferine and slowburn Bamon. Anti-Delena. Takes place after Katherine helps Stefan with his PTSD in Season 5.

Rating: M for Mature due to smut scenes.

Warnings: Not for fans of Elena or Delena. Elena may seem OOC in this story but I'm channeling all my frustration with this character into my writing.

Author's Note: So at this point everyone thinks Katherine's dying of old age (with the exception of Katherine, Nadia and Stefan), so when Stefan tells them Katherine collapsed and to come to the Boarding House, they automatically assume she's dying. Also I've decided to put my replies to reviews at the end of the chapter :).

Chapter 4: The Impending Doom of Katherine Pierce but not really.

Once they reach the Salvatore Boarding House, they sneak Katherine into the house and into bed to rest. Stefan stays with her while Nadia goes to get her some food to have her at full strength for when they reveal the news to everyone.

At the Mystic Grill, Damon has his head on the counter and a bottle of alcohol at his side. Jeremy and Matt walk in. "What the hell?" Matt says as he sees the sight before him.

"Damon dumped Elena," Jeremy says, filling Matt in on what happened last night. "Why?" Matt asks confused. Jeremy shrugs, "I have no idea." Matt shakes his head. "Who spends two years pining after a girl, to dump her?" Damon growls but doesn't open his eyes. "I can still hear you, dumbass." He raises his head and pours himself another shot.

Damon's phone rings and he declines it after seeing that it's Stefan. Stefan sends Jeremy a text that reads, 'Katherine collapsed this morning. Bring Damon home.' Jeremy shows Damon the text and Damon's eyes light up. "Boys, you know what that means… It's time to celebrate. The bitch is dead… or almost dead. Either way, let's go celebrate Katherine's impending doom."

Meanwhile in Caroline and Elena's dorm room, Elena glances at the clock and throws the covers over her head. Caroline and Bonnie enter the room with a tray of food. "Okay, time to wake up, sleepy head," Caroline announces. Elena groans and refuses to get out of bed. They pull the covers off her.

She looks at the tray. "What's all this?" "This is your breakup breakfast," Caroline replies brightly. "My what?" Elena chokes. Caroline makes Elena a mimosa. "So that's it?" Bonnie asks, "You're giving up?"

"As she should," Caroline interjects, "He did say and I quote, 'I'm a bad person. I am bad for you. And I'm choosing to let you go.'" Elena narrows her eyes at Caroline, "You memorized my breakup?" Caroline looks at her as if she should already know but replies anyway, "Of course I did." She hands Elena the mimosa.

"I just have to face reality," Elena sighs, "When Damon makes up his mind about something, it's done." "Yeah," Caroline agrees. Elena's phone begins to ring, and Caroline sees that it's Stefan calling. "It's Stefan," Caroline tells Elena. Elena groans, "Tell him I don't feel like talking."

Caroline answers the call and says to Stefan, "She doesn't feel like talking."

Stefan replies, "Well she's going to want to talk about this… Katherine collapsed this morning and you guys might want to come to the Boarding House."

"We're on our way," Caroline responds in a worried tone.

Damon pours shots and introduces the boys to a game. "Rule number one, Name the worst thing Katherine Pierce has ever done. Rule number two, toast to the glory of her impending death. Rule number three, if you come across something worse, which you will, repeat rules one and two.

"She pretended to be buried in a tomb for 145 years while I waited for her lying ass," Damon says bitterly before picking up a shot and drinking it. Then he pauses before continuing, "Wait… does that beat pretending to be Elena and kissing me on the front porch of your house?"

Jeremy laughs, "I don't think so."

"I didn't think so either," Damon says before downing another shot.

"She fed me to Silas, and I died," Jeremy says before taking a shot. "Then she made me crash my car into a pole and left me for dead… again." He takes another shot.

"My sister's dead because of her," Matt pours a shot of alcohol down his throat. "Yes, she is…" Damon agrees, "Because I wouldn't have even been in town to turn Vicki into a murderous vampire if I wasn't trying to get Katherine out of a tomb, she wasn't in."

"Group shot," Damon announces and they all down a shot. The girls walk into the room and Elena looks at them, "Seriously?"

"Elena… we were just uh…" Matt starts mumbling. She rolls her eyes and looks at Jeremy, "You're cut off." The room is silent and awkward until Elena picks up a bottle of liquor. "If anyone's drinking to Katherine's last days, it's going to be me." She smirks. "She impersonated me repeatedly," Elena says taking a shot after each action, "Made Aunt Jenna stab herself in the stomach and she cut off Uncle John's fingers." Jeremy interjects, "He might have deserved that."

"My Grams died trying to close a tomb she wasn't in," Bonnie points out. "Tyler's werewolf curse got triggered because of her," Caroline adds. "Klaus followed her to Mystic Falls and because of that, we lost Aunt Jenna." "And Alaric," Damon chirps in.

"She tried to kill me at least twice," Elena downs another shot. "She did kill me," Caroline points out before shrugging, "Although I'm weirdly better off."

Upstairs Katherine and Stefan are talking, deciding how to break the news to everyone. "They're talking about me, aren't they?" Katherine asks. She can hear the sounds of celebration, but her human hearing doesn't allow her to hear their exact words. "They're reminiscing," Stefan says trying to be gentle. "It's fine, I'm sure I deserve everything they're saying," Katherine shrugs. Stefan smiles at her.

"I just realized I'm going to get fat," Katherine pouts. "Even pregnant, you're vain," Stefan chuckles. "Hey if a girl's gotta get fat, it might as well be because of you," Katherine smiles and he takes her hand. "You'll look beautiful."

She looks at him curiously. "You're being too nice to me." "You're pregnant and about to confront a room of people who pretty much hate you, I think I can muster up some compassion," Stefan points out. "Are you ready?" He asks her. She shakes her head. "I'll go down first, and you come down whenever you're ready," Stefan says squeezing her hand in comfort.

Stefan enters the room and says, "All right, knock it off. You're being insensitive." Damon rolls his eyes. "Come on, Stefan. Don't let the sight of a frail human Elena-look-alike cloud your memories of the manipulative psycho that she is." He hands a full shot glass to Stefan who hesitates before taking it.

"In 1864, Katherine moved into my home. She compelled me, seduced my brother, fed us full of vampire blood and then started a war with the town that got us killed."

"Exactly, bottoms up," Damon smirks before pouring the alcohol down his throat.

"But centuries before that she was just an innocent girl shunned by her family. So, for five hundred years, she lied and manipulated and did whatever she had to do to survive. And she did. She's a survivor, right? So that's the girl I will drink to today, cheers." Stefan drinks his shot.

Damon glares at his brother, "Oh please, one night of hot sex with her and you're brainwashed?" "What?" Bonnie and Elena ask shocked. Caroline slaps her own forehead and says, "Oh my… I forgot to tell you. You were kidnapped and held hostage and…"

"It's not being brainwashed, Damon," Stefan rolls his eyes, "If you're allowed to blame every bad thing you've ever done on someone else then why can't anyone else?"

"All of you sit here blaming her for things. Matt blamed her for the death of his sister when let's not forget who the reason is that she turned into a vampire. Sheila is dead because Damon was obsessed with her and wanted to open the tomb. Tyler becoming a werewolf is how you both fell in love. All of us fought so hard to get the cure only for Elena to give it to Katherine instead. We lost Jenna and Alaric to Klaus, so maybe he should be blamed for that one. I'm definitely not saying she's blameless but maybe some of that responsibility should be on the people whose actions actually had those outcomes," Stefan rants looking at each of them. Damon clenches his fists because he knows Stefan is right.

"Well, whatever, the bitch is dying… that's all that matters," Damon glares at his brother.

"No, she's not," Nadia walks into the room. "And who are you?" Elena asks. "Caroline, did you remember to tell Elena about the devil's spawn?" Damon asks. Caroline slaps her forehead dramatically. "That's Katherine's daughter," Caroline says, filling anyone in the room who didn't know. "As I was saying," Nadia says, drawing attention back to herself, "She's not dying."

"If she's not dying then why are we all here toasting to her impending doom?" Damon asks confused. "Because I'm not dying, in fact I'm doing the opposite," Katherine replies walking into the room. She pauses for effect.

"I'm bringing new life into the world."

1) Blue AuRa Akage: We shall see :) I will be leaving the readers in suspense for that BUT I won't be writing 9 months of pregnancy so after things have been a little bit settled, I will do a time-skip towards the end of her pregnancy and just write a chapter summarizing what happened during the time-skip.

2) IntrovertedxxMusings: So basically there was a coven of witches who found out there was a human Petrova doppelganger alive again so the prophecy could be fufilled BUT unfortunately they found out Tom Avery couldn't impregnate her, so they decided to heal him. In the process of doing so, they actually healed that part of Stefan as well but they're okay with it since it means the prophecy will still be fufilled. (And happy ending for Tom too because he can have kids not :)!)
