Title: Changing For The Better

Summary: Due to some interfering witches, a hot night between Katherine and Stefan results in her being pregnant. Stefan starts off by forgiving her and eventually falls in love. Katherine starts off by trying to get Stefan and then she ends up changing. Elena is not happy about any of it. Steferine and slowburn Bamon. Anti-Delena. Takes place after Katherine helps Stefan with his PTSD in Season 5.

Rating: M for Mature due to smut scenes.

Warnings: Not for fans of Elena or Delena. Elena may seem OOC in this story but I'm channeling all my frustration with this character into my writing.

Author's Note: So this kinda explains how Stefan managed to impregnate Katherine. In either the next chapter or Chapter 7, Bamon finally starts happening... I'm excited to write them so I hope you guys ship it as well.

Chapter 5: Jeremy Gilbert, the cockroach killer.

"She's pregnant?" Elena spits out her drink. "How is that possible?" Bonnie asks. "I've been in contact with some travelers and apparently there's some sort of doppelganger prophecy…" Nadia explains, "Since Tom, Stefan's doppelganger, was unable to conceive, a coven of witches against the travelers performed a spell to heal him. I assume the spell healed Stefan too, which gave him the ability to conceive as well."

"I thought Katherine was dying of old age," Matt says confused. "She was," Nadia says, "But I think the baby may have healed her. I'm leaving in an hour to go to the property where the coven who foretold the doppelganger prophecy may be." "How do we know that we can trust whatever you find this prophecy to say?" Damon narrows his eyes at Nadia. "Whoever wants to come verify it is welcome to join me," Nadia rolls her eyes, "But there's only space for two."

"Fine, I'll go," Damon announces. "Me too," Bonnie volunteers. "Wait, why you?" Elena objects, "I think I should be the one to go." Nadia shakes her head. "I'm not third wheeling the world's most toxic and annoying couple… Besides the coven I'm going to see are an old friend of the Bennetts, so having Bonnie there could be helpful." "Fine," Elena pouts.

Nadia, Damon and Bonnie leave.

"So, uh congratulations I guess," Matt says unsurely while looking at Katherine and Stefan. "Thanks, Matty Blue," Katherine replies, smiling at him while unknowingly placing her hand on her stomach. "I need some air," Elena says glaring at Katherine's hand. She speeds away. "I should go check on her," Jeremy says before going after his sister. He tries to find her, but thanks to her vampire speed, he does not.

Katherine starts to feel a bit faint. "I need to lie down." Stefan nods and says, "Come on, I'll help you up the stairs." Caroline stops him. "I need to talk to you, Matt will help her to the room, won't you Matt?"

"Uh yeah sure," Matt agrees. Stefan looks at Katherine who nods and allows Matt to help her up the stairs.

"So, you and Katherine?" Caroline raises her eyebrow, "Is that a good idea?" Stefan laughs at his best friend's bluntness. "Probably not, but it's a little late for that now."

"Fair enough," She smiles at him, "I will admit I'm a little jealous… Don't get wrong I love being a vampire, but I'll never get to be pregnant and have my own kids."

"I never thought I would have my own kid," Stefan points out, "But now that I am, I'm kind of glad it happened. And Katherine's not perfect, I know that… But we've all done bad things especially me, so what really gives us the right to judge her?"

"You're right," Caroline nods, "But if I'm getting on board with this whole thing then I have some demands."

Stefan smiles at the way Caroline is always on his side. "And what might those be?"

"Firstly, considering I hate Katherine the least and I'm your best friend, I think I should be the god mother," Caroline begins making her case. "Well, I was going to wait until the baby was bigger than the size of a pea, but I was thinking the same thing and I don't think Katherine will have a problem with it… I'm pretty sure you're her favourite," Stefan grins at the enthusiastic blonde and she smiles brightly back at him.

"Secondly I totally get to plan the baby shower," Caroline continues. "Done," Stefan nods. "And lastly I just want you to remember that I'm always on your side and you can come to me with anything, even Katherine stuff," She looks at him before pausing, "Except sex stuff… Hearing the two of you traumatised me enough." She dramatically shivers and Stefan chuckles. "I think we'll be fine there."

Caroline smiles at him and he smiles back. "Well then we need to go shopping for baby stuff." "Care, there isn't even a baby yet," Stefan points out. "Yes, but there's stuff you need before the baby… Like books for you to read and vitamins for her to take to make sure my god child is healthy," Caroline informs him. Seeing how relentless she is, Stefan gives in. "Okay, okay, let me just check on Katherine quickly." Caroline nods and goes to start the car.

Stefan goes upstairs to see Katherine eating food in bed while Matt is flipping through channels. "Are you okay?" Stefan asks concerned. "Yes," Katherine says in between bites of food. "Caroline and I are going to pick up some stuff for you, so I'll be back in a few hours. Will you be okay here?"

Katherine nods before swallowing. "I'm pregnant, not disabled, I'll be fine." He nods and he hears her shout as he's leaving to pick up more food on the way back.

Matt's phone buzzes. He reads the text and starts typing. "There's a problem at the Grill that I have to go sort out," Matt tells Katherine, "I texted Jeremy, he's going to stay with you." Katherine nods and Matt leaves to go to the Mystic Grill.

Jeremy enters the Salvatore Boarding House and sits down on the couch. Matt said he had to make sure Katherine was safe, he didn't say he had to spend time with her. After a few moments of peace, Jeremy hears a scream from upstairs. "Damn Katherine," Jeremy groans and races upstairs to find Katherine standing on top of the bed with a shoe in her hand.

"What are you doing?" Jeremy asks curiously. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Katherine replies, "I saw a huge cockroach when I opened that old cupboard and it's somewhere on the floor." Jeremy starts walking out of the room. "Where are you going?" Katherine shouts after him. He returns a minute later with some bug spray. He searches the room finds the bug, sprays it and then uses a tissue to pick it up and toss it out the window. "Happy now?"

"Yes, thank you," Katherine says, finally calming down. "I can't believe, the great Katherine Pierce, is scared of a cockroach." "Those things carry diseases!" Katherine protests. Jeremy laughs at her outburst. "Okay fine, I'm scared of cockroaches," She admits, "Back in Bulgaria… My father wanted to scare me, so he took me to this really poor village and there was a corpse and there were cockroaches all over it feasting on the corpse." Katherine shivers at the memory. Jeremy makes a disgusted face. "Okay fair enough," He throws his hands up in defeat.

He starts to leave the room when Katherine calls out, "Wait!" "What?" Jeremy turns around and asks. "Where are you going?" Katherine asks curiously. "Downstairs… to play videogames," Jeremy shrugs. "Can I play?" Katherine pouts. "You want me to play videogames with someone that's killed me?" Jeremy asks her. "Didn't Damon kill you too?" Katherine raises an eyebrow. "Good point," Jeremy says, "Come on, let me kick your ass virtually." They both go downstairs to play video games.
