Title: Changing For The Better
Summary: Due to some interfering witches, a hot night between Katherine and Stefan results in her being pregnant. Stefan starts off by forgiving her and eventually falls in love. Katherine starts off by trying to get Stefan and then she ends up changing. Elena is not happy about any of it. Steferine and slowburn Bamon. Anti-Delena. Takes place after Katherine helps Stefan with his PTSD in Season 5.

Chapter 10: Under the table

Caroline calls Stefan. "Hey Care," Stefan greets her. "Stefan, Bonnie told me she's heading over to our dorm room, and someone needs to her show her to it. I was supposed to leave, but my mother needs my help with something… Can you go please? I tried calling Jeremy but he's not picking up his phone and neither is Elena."
"I'm in the middle of getting stuff ready for dinner, and there's no way Jeremy is leaving that couch today, but I'll find a way to take care of it," Stefan assures her. Caroline lets out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," Caroline responds, "I'll call you back later after I'm done helping my mother… How's Katherine doing by the way?"
"She's doing okay… She's actually with Jeremy," Stefan says. "Wait, does that mean they're friends now?" Caroline asks surprised. "Yeah, who would have thought? She's helping him win some money in some video gaming thing so he can pay for Bonnie's present."
"What's in it for her?" Caroline asks curiously.
"Nothing…" Stefan replies, "I think she likes hanging out with him."
She teases him, "Aww is Stefan a little jealous?"
"No, of course not," Stefan denies, "I mean I don't have a reason to be jealous, right?"
"Relax, I'm kidding," Caroline laughs, "Katherine's favourite line is, 'It's always gonna be Stefan,' so I highly doubt Elena's little brother could manage to make her stray." Stefan sighs.
"Can I ask you something?" Caroline bites her lip nervously.
Stefan laughs. "You're going to ask no matter what I say."
"Have you forgiven Katherine for everything that she's done? Are you in love with her? Or is this just another way to get over Elena?" Caroline rambles.
"No, I haven't forgiven everything… 145 years is a lot to forgive," Stefan answers her, "But I do believe in giving people the chance to change… And I think Katherine is changing. I have to admit that I am kind of hurt that you think I would use someone to get over Elena."
"I didn't think you would," Caroline admits, "But I just wanted to be sure. There's a baby involved this time, which means if you decide you're pursuing this for real then you have to be sure… I grew up in a broken home and as great as my parents were, I don't want that for your kid."
"I understand," Stefan responds, "Thanks Care. You're the best friend I could have asked for."
"Always Stef," Caroline smiles, "Or at least until we're on the other side and I have to share that status with Lexi."
Stefan chuckles and they both end the call.
Stefan walks in and puts the groceries away before heading to the door. "Where are you going?" Damon eyes him, "You just got here." Stefan turns to his brother. "Bonnie needs some help. Caroline was supposed to go but she had to cancel last minute so she asked me to step in."
"I'll go," Damon offers.
Stefan raises an eyebrow at his brother's offer. "You want to go voluntarily help someone that's not Elena with nothing in it for you?"
"Is that so hard to believe?" Damon rolls his eyes.
"Change really is in the air at the Salvatore Boarding House," Stefan smirks.
"Whatever," Damon replies before leaving to go help Bonnie.
Stefan starts cooking dinner. When he's done, he opens the pot lid to let it cool. Sometime later Katherine walks in. "That smells amazing." Stefan looks up at her. "I see you're done playing video games." Katherine walks towards him and says playfully, "Are you jealous, Mr Salvatore?"
He steps forward, making her back into the counter. "Do I have a reason to be?"
Katherine looks into his eyes and says, "Never."
He closes the space between them by capturing her lips with his. He slips his tongue into her mouth, and they battle for dominance. His hand trails from her waist to her ass and he squeezes.
