The Road Trip

I had an airtight breakup plan in place. I made a reservation next Thursday at a well-lit Korean restaurant in midtown. It's the least romantic place I could think of.

Scully's bathroom.

Amy had beaten him to the foyer- no surprises, she always beat him. But she was sitting there with a look on her face that made him sad- she looked defeated. There was no other word for it.

"Ready to go?" he greets her with his usual chipper grin, and she shrugs.

"Sure".

Sure, things hadn't worked out with Sophia. He should have been bummed, but he wasn't. Because Amy used to like him. And maybe a part of him had liked Amy. And maybe a part of him still did.

"Are you going to lord this over me?" Amy groaned, seeing the grin on his face. She hoisted her suitcase into the trunk. "Lets just get home".

"Want some blue?" he offered, and she glares, accepting the bottle.

"Going to be a long ride home", she grumbles, stretching her seatbelt across her chest.

"You deserve better than Teddy", Jake says instead, sliding into the driver's seat.
