Staring Contest
It's a war of attrition; gold eyes meeting grey ones as Azura and Benny stare into each other's souls, hoping to make the other person blink. Both have the ability to intimidate people with their gaze, but neither of them are backing down. As they both crouch down in an attempt to conserve their strength, it's only a matter of time before one of them inevitably fails.
But alas, after a minute of intense staring, it is Azura who must admit defeat, and she groans in agony as she wipes her dry eyes with a damp cloth. "Well, it looks like you win again, my dear husband," she mutters good-naturedly, and she passes the cloth to Benny when she's done with it. "People say that I have a strong glare, but no matter what I do, you beat me every time. How are you so good at this?"
Benny averts his eyes slightly after wiping them, seemingly not wanting to answer, and in concern Azura moves to sit beside her husband and puts her hand onto his shoulder. "Was it something I said? You're looking a little down after I asked you that question."
"It's just a little embarrassing to talk about."
Azura warmly smiles at Benny, wanting to reassure him. "You're my husband, Benny. You can tell me anything, and I promise that I will never judge you for it."
After another short hesitation, Benny sighs and reveals his answer: "You're just so beautiful, I never want to stop looking at you."
Benny's words elicit a heavy blush onto the normally stoic songstress' face. "Oh my," she whispers. "That might be the cheesiest thing I've ever heard in my life."
Before Benny can respond, Azura nuzzles herself into her husband's chest and rests her warm cheek against his own. "But I could hear those words from you every single day of my life and never grow tired of hearing them."
Benny wraps his arm around Azura appreciatively. "I love you, Azura."
"And I, you," Azura responds, kissing her husband's cheek.

I haven't written a fic this short in years! Benny and Azura have an absolutely adorable support conversation chain that I discovered after pairing them together for the first time in my Lunatic Revelation run. They are now one of my favourite pairings within Fire Emblem Fates, and I ship them for life. :p
As far as why I decided to write such a short fic, the reason is because of the author leukoplakiaa. This author has posted a ton of short 300 word FE4 fics lately, including a bunch that focused on DeirdrexArvis, and that gave me the inspiration to write a short fic myself. Go read those fics for yourself! They're quite cute.
I've been working on a slightly bigger project lately. I'm not sure when I'll post it because my laptop has been a bit wonky lately, but hopefully it will be relatively soon! See you then!
