A/N: Another Teen Wolf story around the core four Mcargentinlinski? If they have a ship name. Pretty much a fluffy drabble set in an AU with everyone alive and also trying to showcase my love for Scott McCall.
Warning: There is the occasional swear word. Also this story is unbeta'd so future apologies for any grammatical mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Wolf and make no money from writing this.
In a rare peaceful weekend everyone was home. Anyone who had either moved or was currently enrolled away at college was back for the weekend per Scott's request apart from the allies who respectively or not respectively chose to decline, and the parents who were working.
It was fall and a very brisk day with the signs of the weather slowly starting to change. This also meant the leaves were starting to turn just before falling, and it was the perfect time to visit a corn maze or at least in a Kira's opinion. Not partaking in the event themselves, Scott, Stiles, Lydia, and Allison were all curled up on a giant blanket in front of Stiles' Jeep watching the ever-growing pack.
Cora appeared to be catching up with Jordan, Derek, and Braeden on top of one of the picnic benches chatting amicably. The twins had gone off with Jackson and Danny into the maze. Erica seemed content dragging Isaac and Boyd shortly after them casually snapping pictures along the way. Kira was trying to get Malia to try some of the snacks they were selling at the concession stand including caramel apples decorated in an abundance of chocolate chips and nuts. And lastly Hayden and Liam were drawn into some sort of spirited debate concerning horror movie icons to which Corey and Mason followed behind trading amused/exasperated glances.
"This is nice isn't it? Having everyone together." Scott inquired softly with Allison's head in his lap. Stiles was leaning on him to his left with Lydia's head in his lap. Lydia pinched Stiles before he could say anything sarcastic and ruin the moment.
"Ouch! Lydia could you please keep your talons to yourself. I didn't even do anything."
She snorted. "You would have." Turning her head so she was looking upside down at Scott, she agreed. "It's nice to be home. We need to face-time more I haven't seen you three in weeks."
"That's not exactly our fault, Miss academic queen."
"I know but it's still true."
Allison crossed her legs while humming. "I think we can all stand to make more of an effort. It's sad when Jackson, Ethan, and Danny talk more than we do."
"My God that is depressing..."
"So I think we should at least face-time twice a month and in person visit at least every other month."
"Clearly because we can't be outdone by Jackson Whittemore- ouch! Scott can we trade? This one keeps pinching me." Scott and Allison chuckled trading looks while Lydia answered.
"Only I can trash talk my ex Stiles."
He sighed conceding. "Fine fair enough."
They all grew quiet and let the peace of the moment overtake them, soaking it in. However after awhile they grew distracted by Mason, Liam, Hayden, and Corey attempting to play soccer with a pine cone and two benches. Liam and Corey vs Hayden and Mason before Brett and Lori arrived to join in. At some point it seemed to turn into football with both sides playing dirty.
"How does it feel watching the next generation take over for us." Stiles asked, though clearly intending the question for Scott.
"Several things," He answered with a wistful smile laying out the conflicting feelings inside of him. "Hopeful that Beacon Hills is in good hands and has people to protect it. Sad that they now have to carry this burden and can't just be regular teens worried about exams and acne. Angry that people will come after them and keep doing so. And finally worried that they might be over their heads one day and I'll be too far away to reach them."
He felt Lydia grab hold of his hand. "They're not alone Scott."
While Allison took the other. "And my dad promises to look out for them."
"And they have Sourwolf too, Parrish and Deaton along with both our parents." Stiles added wrapping the closest arm around him.
Feeling himself tearing up a bit Scott laughed before shaking his head trying to will the tears away. "Yeah I guess they do."
"I know what will make you feel better." Gently pushing him to the ground, hearing Scott dramatically 'Oof' before curling up nearly on top of him. "Blanket pack pile. Be prepared to be smothered by two humans and a banshee." Lydia, knowing it was a good idea for how much Scott loved them primly sat up dusting herself off before moving to Scott's other side to lay her head on his chest feeling his arm wrap around her and tug her in close causing her to smile.
"Don't be shy Ali," Stiles called out with wagging eyebrows. "I have another perfectly good arm for you." Holding it out as far as it could go.
Allison smirked mischievously before crouching down next to Stiles then without warning laying across the three of them with her head resting on Lydia but maintaining most of her weight on Scott and her legs on Stiles.
"You know...that was on me for speaking too soon." Stiles finally admitted.
It appeared the others were beginning to take note of their new position or had wrapped up any activities they were previously engaged in and wandered closer.
"Remember to keep it PG kids this is a public place." Isaac teased walking up to stand between Kira and Malia watching Stiles flip him off making him laugh
"I feel like this looks like the beginning of an orgy." Malia said decisively, arms crossed. "But the background is all wrong." Kira groaned burying her flushed cheeks into her hands and muttering Malia's name, while Isaac laughed harder and offered a high five to Malia.
"I was going to say I think it's cute." Kira replied shifting on her feet. "But clearly I'm alone on this."
"No," Hayden called out as the others came over. Hayden for some reason on Liam's shoulders. "I agree I think it's cute too." She hit Liam's shoulder causing him to squawk but not waver in the slightest. "We should start our own!"
"Um why?"
"Strength building of the bonds that make up our pack." Scott offered before Hayden could, to which Derek, Cora, and Stiles rolled their eyes. "Also it's really calming especially if the group has nice scents."
"Aw Scotty you say the sweetest things."
Lori, having decided she was going to follow up on Hayden's idea, walked over to a random spot on the grass and lay down causing several people to look over at her. Brett was giving her an equally odd and terribly fond look. "Lori what the hell are you doing?"
"Starting a second pack cuddle pile."
Brett shook his head but couldn't keep the amusement off his face in highlight of his sister's antics. "Alright I'll join you since it looks weird as hell with you doing that by yourself." Before moving to lay down next to her resting the back of his head on his hands. She beamed at him, appreciating the support.
"Hey put me down for a second." Hayden tapped Liam's shoulder, and he complied, squatting so she could climb off. She then ran over and moved so she encompassed Lori's other side, causing the girl to turn her smile in Hayden's direction.
Mason gave Liam a playful nudge and smile before asking. "Come on dude, are you going to let your girlfriend go it solo?"
"Fine," He said with a sigh, starting to move over to Hayden's side until she sat up shaking her head.
"Nope you got my One Direction shirt muddy and won't admit that Krueger would own Jason in a fight. So you're next to Brett."
Liam just stared at her in disbelief. "Seriously?"
"Seriously." She echoed laying back down. Brett had his eyes closed, but couldn't help a small smirk.
"No worries I won't bite unless you ask me."
Liam just looked over at Mason with a slightly pained pity me expression. Mason immediately patted his shoulder in sympathy before saying, "Dude if you need me to I will gladly make the sacrifice and lay next to him."
Several people snorted or laughed, while Liam glowered slightly. "Wow what a sacrifice."
Corey just playfully rolled his eyes before tugging both guy's arms to the pile.
"You two are impossible. I'll go next to Brett and Mason can stay next to Hayden and Liam can join whichever side he wants."
He was surprised when Liam sat next to him before shrugging. "You're the only one that has yet to betray me today." Corey rolled his eyes again before tugging him in closer.
"Is he always so dramatic?" Hayden muttered without heat in Mason's ear, who was shooting a fond look at his best friend.
"Yes it's a part of his charm."
Braeden, Jordan, and Cora looked over expectantly at Derek which caused him to merely shake his head. "Nope I'm good." bringing out a chuckle from all three of them.
"Cheers to that," Braeden clicked her silver flask to their Styrofoam apple ciders. They listened to the surrounding conversations around them and also Stiles, Allison, Scott and Lydia debated whether they should attempt another ice skating date with the girls very much for it and the guys against.
"Like that wasn't embarrassing enough the last time for us. We don't need a replay."
"Oh come on you weren't that bad."
"Well they kinda were."
"Thank you Lydia while slightly insulting you proved my point."
"Maybe you've gotten better!"
"Or worse. Allison there's nothing romantic about Scott and I tripping all over ourselves while you and Lydia continue to be Olympic protegees. If I wanted my ego bruised I'd just spend a few hours with Jackson."
Overall a very good day Scott thought before humming something he was sure was from Wizard of Oz.
