It was 9 years after the 100 year war, Just a couple of years ago Zuko was back in a relationship with Mai and then just last year they got married...
Present Day (The Afternoon):
"Zuko?" Mai says as she enters the throne room. Zuko was speaking with his advisors. "Everyone please leave the room, I must speak with my wife." Says Zuko. "Yes, my lord." Says each of the advisors. The advisors leave the room. Mai approaches Zuko. "Zuko, I want to create a family with you." Says Mai. "Mai now is not the time." Says Zuko. Zuko gets up and walks up to Mai. "I know but the Royal bloodline." Says Mai. "I know, but can we talk about this tonight and give me time to think?" Asks Zuko. "Sure thing." Says Zuko with a smile. Mai kisses Zuko as she leaves the room. "When you have made your decision, you know where to find me." Says Mai with a smile.
It was hours later, Zuko was ready for bed and in his pajamas on his way back to him and Mai's room. "Mai babe, where are you?" Asks Zuko as he enters the bedroom. "I'm right here." Says Mai, sitting in bed. "Well I made my decision, so let's start a family." Says Zuko. Mai and stood up as Zuko approaches her. Zuko kisses Mai passionately. Then they take a wild trip to pound town.
13 Weeks Later:
Mai and Zuko had told Tye Lee, Suki, Sokka, Toph, Katara, and Aang that Mai was pregnant. "Mai, Zuko just so you know, good luck with parenting, and I know you will be great parents." Says Katara. "Thanks Katara." Says Zuko with a smile. "Zuko you are going to feel miserable and stressed out when Mai gets emotional, because trust me I dealt with Katara when she was pregnant with Bumi and that was not fun when she got emotional." Says Aang. All the guys chuckled. The girls rolled their eyes. Katara nudged Aang. "Hey!" Says Katara. "But I'm only speaking the truth." Asks Aang. Later on the news about the pregnancy spread throughout the nations.
Week 25:
Mai was in a bad mood sometimes and Zuko would often worry and Mai would shout saying she was fine but Zuko just wanted Mai and his child to be safe and okay. "Oh ahh!" Cries Mai. "Mai, are you okay?!" Zuko asks, worriedly. "Zuko honey, I'm fine!" Says Mai. "Are you sure?" Asks Zuko. "Yes, I'm just going to go find something to eat then take a nap." Says Mai. "Okay." Says Zuko. Mai kisses Zuko before leaving to the palace kitchen. Mai finds soy sauce and pickles. Mai dips the pickles in soy sauce and then goes to lay down for a nap.
Hours later, Zuko had some time off for a little bit and heads to him and Mai's room and sits on the side of the bed, smiling at sleeping Mai and lays his hand on Mai's pregnant belly.
Week 40:
It was time, Zuko and Mai were prepared. It was in the middle of the night. Mai feels a stabbing and painful kick and felt wet and the bed was wet and red. "Ahhh!" Mai shouts in pain. "Mai?" Asks Zuko. "Zuko, I think my water just broke!" Says Mai. "I'll get Suki and Tye Lee--" Says Zuko. "No, there is no time, please Zuko." Says Mai, begging.
It was hours later, Mai gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. The baby immediately wails. The baby's crying echoes throughout the palace, Suki and Tye Lee hear the baby cry and get startled and follow the noise to Mai and Zuko's room and barge in. "Zuko?! Mai?!" Shouts Tye Lee. "Tye Lee, where's Suki?" Asks Zuko. "I'm right here, we heard a baby crying, so we figured Mai had just finished giving birth." Says Suki. "Yeah." Says Zuko. "How's the baby? Boy or girl?" Asks Suki in a worry. "Good I think and the baby is a girl." Says Zuko. "She's breathing, I'm going to cut the imbecile cord." Says Suki. Suki cuts the imbecile cord and everything goes as planned. "What are you going to name her?" Asks Tye Lee. "Izumi." Says Mai. "Beautiful." Says Suki. Everyone goes to sleep and worries about the mess in the morning.
The next week, all of their friends come to visit and see Izumi.
