Here's my take on what happened to Eddie during his "heart attack(?)" S05x01
No one knew what happened. All of a sudden Eddie collapsed to the ground. His eyes were shot wide open. He was breathing heavily.
"Dad!"
Eddie could hear yelling but everything was a haze. He heard a woman call his name but it was all a blur. Next thing he knew, he was lying inside the firetruck. Someone was pressing hard on his shoulder. Everything was happening so fast yet at the same time, so slow. He couldn't make sense of what was happening. He was panicking. No… Eddie Diaz does not panic. But he was.
Nothing made sense no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't calm down. He could see a bright light blinding him.
"Dad!"
Christopher.
His son was calling him. Is his son in trouble? Does he need him?
Everything was still a blur.
Blue.
"Eddie! Stay with me…"
That voice. Even though he noticed that the voice seemed to be distressed, for some reason it made him more alert. Calm.
His vision began to clear. He could see striking blue eyes staring at his.
Red.
Such a beautiful face tainted with blood. Was he hurt?
"Are you hurt?"
"No! No no I'm fine!"
He's fine.
Somehow those two little words immediately calmed him. His heart was no longer racing. His breathing was calm. He closed his eyes and slept.
"Dad!"
"Edmundo!"
The screams woke him up. His hazy vision began to clear up. His heart was still pounding. He expected to see those gorgeous blue eyes once more to calm him down but they didn't. He thought maybe these chocolate brown eyes would suffice but they didn't. it wasn't enough, because she wasn't him. He tried not to let the disappointment in his face show but it didn't matter because she wouldn't have noticed it anyway.
Next thing he knew the paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.
