NINJAGO HIGHSCHOOL: CHAPTER NINE: The Tattletale
If there was another class for Lloyd to hate, it would be Mr. Krux's history class. There were two history classes, and Lloyd was unlucky enough to to get Mr. Krux. His brother, Mr. Acronix, was laxer, cooler, more in style with the youth. He let his students use their phones after work, and even played some games with his students during or after class. Mr. Krux was the complete opposite of this. He was cold, hateful of his students, and despised technology to a unhealthy point. If you so much as had your phone out after the bell, it was an immediate invitation to Mr. Nadakhan's office. It didn't help that Mr. Krux was VERY conservative, and ranted about the state of Ninjago city quite a lot. If anything though, it did shave a good ten minutes off the class once in a while. Lloyd was very uncomfortable with Mr. Krux's unstable rants about how "Ninjago needs to kick all the snakes out" and "The police should have more than tasers". His dad certainly wouldn't do anything about it though, since Mr Krux was old, therefore the best choice for a history teacher.
"Following my research, things were MUCH better before all these damn tablets and phones existed!" Mr. Krux loudly stated. "Back then people could pay attention for more than ten minutes! I would be able to TEACH a class properly!" He looked around the class, where half the students weren't paying attention. "YOU! stop looking that way and look at ME!" Jacob Pevsner turned his head over to where the noise was coming from. "Are you kidding me? I'm BLIND! It doesn't matter." Krux rubbed his temple. "That is NOT an EXCUSE!" Lloyd rolled his eyes. Only Mr Krux..."You kno-" Lloyd was cut off. "RAISE your hand." Lloyd sighed and raised his hand. "You may speak." "You know, your opinion on technology is good and all, but you haven't got to what our homework IS." Mr. Krux had a realization that he went into another rant. "Right. Your homework is to write a two page essay about a career of your choice from the past. You could also write a five page essay for why phones are bad for today's youth." No one ever took the second choice to his dismay. Some day someone will, and he can send it to the mayor. Lloyd was just going to write about farmers. "OBVIOUSLY you have to write it on paper. You have 2 days to write it and drop it off." There was still 20 minutes left in class, and Lloyd had to use the bathroom. He rose his hand again and asked if he could go. "Sure. Take the pass at the door and be back before class is over." Lloyd got up, took the pass, and went out to the hallway. He was halfway there when he saw Harumi. "Oh hey there Lloyd!" "Hey Harumi. What're you doing?" Harumi showed some papers off. "Dropping these papers off to Mr. Garmadon for Mr. Cryptor. What about you?" Lloyd flashed his pass. "Ah, well I shouldn't keep you busy." Harumi started to walk away. "Wait Harumi, I wanted to know if there was an update to the gaming club stuff?" Harumi stopped and turned back around. "Oh, well...I'm still having trouble convincing the others, I'm sorry." Lloyd looked a little dejected. "Man, that's rough." Harumi had a good idea then. "I know! If you can beat one of our members in a game, you should definitely be able to join!" Lloyd was stunned. "Harumi...are you aware of my skills? My LACK of skills?" "I know Lloyd, but hear me out. If you can beat ANY of us, the others would certainly let you in." Lloyd thought about it. Maybe it wasn't as stupid as he thought. Before they could continue the conversation, a whiney voice came out from a few feet away. "Hey! Do you have a hall pass?" Lloyd and Harumi turned over to see Morro, with a fake badge in his hand. "Hall monitor, I can't help but see you two are having a conversation during class!" Morro had a smug smirk on his stupid ghost face, that made even Lloyd think about violence. "We were just having a conversation ghost boy." Harumi scoffed. "You're being awfully rude to someone who can get you sent to the dean!" Morro hissed. "Go ahead, I'm delivering papers to Mr. Garmadon. Would you want him to be kept waiting?" Harumi gave a smugger look and walked away, waving Lloyd goodbye. Morro was glaring daggers at her, and was about to blow a fuse. Lloyd waved his pass at him. "See ya, ghost boy." Lloyd could barely hold a snicker as he walked past Morro, who was in utter astonishment at what happened. Never has he been disrespected so hard...except when Cole bullied him.
Lloyd came back to class without trouble, and waited for the bell. When it rang he got up, and walked out. On to Lunch. Today was chicken patty and macoroni. As meh as it was, Lloyd couldn't complain. He got his food, and walked over to his friend's table. Jay wasn't there, he was with Nya. Lloyd sat with Kai by his side, and struck up conversation with Cole. "So, I saw you got into the gamer club, Cole." Cole smirked. "Yeup, got in pretty easy. Showed them some of my Roadhog clips and they were impressed." "Roadhog is a cheap character" Kai said annoyed. "That sucks for you, but I'm in the gamer club so HA." Lloyd took a bite of his food, and saw Karlof walk by. "Cole, what did you do this time?" He said through his food. "What are you talking about? I didn't do anything." Cole said, with some earnest in his voice for once. "Then why is Karlof coming over here?" Cole turned his head over to Karlof and sighed. "Ugh, Karlof, do I have to fight you again? I didn't do anything this time." Karlof walked past Cole. "I am not here for you, I am here for HIM." He pointed his finger at Lloyd. Lloyd was surprised, and put his food on the tray. "Excuse me?" He said. "Yeah, excuse me too! What did Lloyd do?" Kai asked. "Morro told me he called him 'ghost boy' and threatened him." Lloyd nervously laughed. "Well, the first one was true, but he made up the other one." Karlof scowled. "And why should I believe you?" Zane tried to speak up. "Logically, Lloyd would not threaten someone. From what I've seen of him, he has never displayed acts of vio-" Karlof shut him up. "Shut it tin can! You and me handle this at park tomorrow!" Karlof knew better than to fight at school this time. "Why, afraid to get sent to the dean?" Cole asked. "I'm not getting detention, or worse, over some bully." Karlof glared at Lloyd. "You better be prepared, little man." He walked off, fists clenched. "Well...shit." Kai broke the silence. Lloyd had his hands on his face and groaned. "Ughhh...that little shit Morro!" Cole crossed his arms. "I'll show that little bundle of ectoplasm a REAL bully..." Zane adjusted his jacket. "I hope your fighting skills are better than your Fortnite skills Lloyd." Kai patted Lloyd's back. "Hey man, you don't even have to fight Karlof, just forget about him and Morro." "Kai it isn't so simple. What if Karlof starts harassing me during or after school? Am I supposed to just let that happen?" "Just tell your dad, it is the logical option." "I appreciate it Zane, but it wouldn't help my image to whine to my dad...shit." Kai looked at the time on his phone. "Better keep eating, lunch is over in 5 minutes." Lloyd agreed and ate away, dreading the future.
"MORRO!" Lloyd angerly walked over to Morro after school. Morro turned around and had that punchable look on his face, that was on 24/7. "What is it Lloyd, don't you have a fight to prepare for?" He gave a weaselly laugh. Lloyd's eyes narrowed. "Why the HELL did you get Karlof to target me?" Lloyd's frown was something else. "Maybe you should respect hall monitors next time, asshole." Morro snickered and flipped him off. Lloyd's absolute FURY was growing. "This little bastard..." he thought to himself. "I hope it rains on your way home ghost boy." Lloyd seethed. "Wow, for the principal's son, you're not a model student." Lloyd took a deep breath...and walked past Morro, ignoring whatever venom Morro was saying towards him, until he got on the bus, sat next to Kai, and put his head on the window. "So...how did confronting Morro go?" Kai asked with some concern. "Terrible...Cole better mess him up..." "Lloyd don't say that, that isn't like you." Lloyd sighed. "Well I'm gonna be harassed by Karlof forever because of that little parasite, so I don't care." Kai didn't say anything and tried to change the subject. "Hm...anything with Harumi." "Yeah...she said that if I can beat one of her members in a game I can join them...that isn't gonna go well." Kai patted his shoulder. "Don't be so negative man, you'll be able to join them sooner or later. You just need some confidence...and a little luck." Lloyd shrugged, and just pulled out his phone to text Brad. Kai couldn't help but look at his phone. "Who's that?" "Oh, uh, a friend from my old school. We met at a café and he gave me his discord." Kai nodded along. "Nice nice, looks like you're on to getting more friends." "Yeup...maybe." The bus stopped, and Lloyd, Kai, and the others got off. Lloyd was going to lay in bed and dread what was happen...and text Brad.
