Chapter 2: Marco
[We can't just go straight to Visser Three.] I said. [Maybe Tom or Chapman. Or better yet, we just don't do this at all.]
[I totally see where you're coming from, Marco, but we have to if we want even the slightest chance of being able to survive this.]
I reluctantly agreed with Cassie.
[Why are the others doing this?] I asked.
[I don't know.] Cassie said. [Maybe this is just a Yeerk trap and they knew we were listening when they said they wanted to destroy the Yeerks.]
[Maybe. But the hatred in which Aximili said Yeerk could only come from a true Andalite.]
[Good point.] Cassie agreed.
We made our final decision. We were going to Jake's house to enlist Tom's Yeerk's help.
Cassie and I walked up to the door. I knocked. Tom answered.
"Hey, Marco. Jake's not home right now."
"Thanks, Tom, but we're here to talk to you."
"Me?"
"Yeah. I have something to tell you that the Sharing might want to know."
That seemed to interest Tom.
"What is it?"
"It's about the Andalite bandits." Cassie said.
Faster than anyone could blink, Tom whipped a Dracon beam out of his pocket and was aiming it at Cassie's head.
"Andalite! You've morphed my host's brother's friends!"
"Actually, no. We've all been humans, except one Andalite."
"You do realize I could have you killed or infested right now, don't you?" Tom asked.
"We want to help you defeat them." Cassie said.
"And why do you want that."
"Because we recently discovered that they were plotting to kill both of us." I explained.
"That is something we Yeerks would do, and why can't I just use this Dracon weapon on both of you?"
"The Animorphs, as we call ourselves, have been heavily damaging the Yeerk forces on Earth. So much that our sources say Visser One is trying to find a different planet to invade. If we all work together, we promise to give the Yeerks morphing powers so you can become nothlits. That way you won't need hosts."
"You make a tempting offer. I know that Visser Three would love to get his hands on those ... Animorphs. And he certainly would like to no longer have to rely on Kandrona rays."
"So you'll help us then?"
"Let me contact the Visser." Tom said.
A moment later, a fly landed on the ground and demorphed.
I could feel the evil radiating off of this Andalite.
It was Visser Three.
To make a long story short, the Yeerks agreed to help us.
They said that we were to pretend to know nothing of this situation until they began their plot.
We wouldn't have taken orders from Yeerks, but that was our plan anyway.
I had to pretend like everything was normal, even though I couldn't trust anyone but Cassie anymore.
Just acting like everything was normal when your friends were trying to kill me was just too much.
I was hanging out watching TV with my dad when the call came.
"Marco. Here's the phone. It's Jake."
My blood ran cold.
I forced my legs to walk to the phone. I picked it up.
"Hey, Marco." Jake said on the other end. "Meet in the barn in half an hour."
Author's note: I'll try to get chapters up every day or every other day. I appreciate reviews for this story. Criticism is welcome because then I'll know how to improve.
