A/n - I apologize for nothing. This scene has not left my head for days. I hope writing gets it out.
Enjoy.

Inquisitor Kaaras Adaar was riding his bog horse toward the middle of his forces on their way to Adamant fortress. All their information pointed toward the Wardens aiding Corypheus from there. He had originally been riding with the Grey Warden Alistair, but grew wary of listening to him and Hawke arguing about the folly of the Wardens and what their fate should be. If he had a say, they would be banished until such time as Corypheus was defeated, and then they would submit to the control of the Inquisition. It was the best course of action to keep the same thing from happening again.
He looked around at his companions, knowing at least half of them were of the same opinion. Blackwall being the obvious man against it. Solas being the one for disbanding the group all together. The apostate had been quiet since they had set off, looking around as if waiting for something to happen.
"Inquisitor..." Solas had decided to walk with the troops, moving around the ranks doing what Adaar didn't care. The Apostate needed to be controlled just as much as the Wardens, but currently he was useful. There was nothing to gain from sending him to sit in the tower with the rest of the mages indentured to their order.
"What is it?" He looked down at the elf. It was a good feeling, having been looked down upon by even those shorter than himself. Solas never got to answer as the ground for a moment shook as it something powerful exploded. They both looked to the fortress just before the horizon. It looked blurred from the distance, but that could have easily been the heat. Plumes of smoke bellowed out, darkening the bright afternoon sky. Adaar could faintly hear the sound of battle. He pressed his mount forward, rushing for a closer look.
His force took their cue from him and started to move faster, despite Cullen's orders to halt. They had no idea what was happening inside the fortress. Adaar stopped his mount as the blackened dragon of Corypheus fell upon the structure. He watched with fascination as the creature roared loud enough to be heard clearly by them. The dragon circled a few times, and eventually something that caught the sunlight wrapped around its jaw. The roaring stopped, and the thing launched into the sky, twisting and turning, as it tried to loosen whatever was around its muzzle.
Adaar's mount took three steps back as the Dragon changed direction toward them. It dove into their forces giving him a better looked at the thick metal chain caught around its teeth and locking its jaw shut. Hanging on to the chain letting out a mixture of laughter and curses was an elf, red of hair and wearing blue and silver, Grey Warden armor. She let out a scream of warning and let go of the chain. She rolled with purpose and stood up using the momentum of her roll. Adaar watched her glance curiously at their group, before her eyes caught something.
"MAGE! Can you create an ice bridge?" Adaar followed her gaze and spotted Solas. He had somehow kept up with his mount. He barely nodded a response before the elf called for him to follow her. Solas looked curious and thoughtful, but followed this would be dragon slayer.
Solas moved with the strange red-haired elf, as she rushed out into the open. The dragon was flying away slowly, stilling trying to remove the chain caught on its jaw. She stopped for a moment shifting her weight and taking a few deep breaths. He watched as she stretched up, turning to him, a bright wild expression on her face.
"Stay at least ten feet from me at all times." He nodded at her order, pulling his staff into his hands. "I'll count to three. On three make an ice bridge starting at me and moving up toward the dragon coming at me." He nodded again, wondering how she intended to get the creature to return, when it was moving in the other direction with purpose. "Remember, ten feet, unless you'd like to die." She shrugged with a humorous smile on her face. He took a step back cautiously. He wanted to be close enough to see what she did, but did not wish to suffer a consequence by standing to close. "Fuck, this will hurt." She mumbled to herself, and Solas was certain he was not supposed to hear it.
He took several steps back as the air around the strange Warden grew thick with Blight magic. A circle of black corruption formed around her, and he watched her raise her arms and scream. It cracked the air like a whip striking flesh. Her eyes turned black as did her finger tips. Another scream and the dragon answered, turning sharply toward her. The blackened ground turned to dust, dancing around her complied by the magic in the air. It wasn't magic from the Fade, nor was it Blood Magic, this was something he had not seen since the age of immortals. She was harnessing the Magic of the Void.
The dragon was upon them fast, he barely had time to lift his staff as she called out her numbers. On three she was already running toward where the Bridge was supposed to start. Solas had not been amazed by any feat in this world, but he could not deny that as the strange elf pulled her magic back into herself, leaving behind the pureness of the world, he was impressed. She charged up the ice without hesitation and jumped on the back of the creature. She used the force of her run and jump to bury a small blade into the dragon's wing. Solas jumped out of the way, as it crashed into the ground.
"COMMANDER!" Alistair was rushing toward the fight. Solas stood, shooting ice at the dragon as it turned to blow fire at the Warden lying unmoving on the ground. The chain around its mouth had loosened enough for a small flame. Solas moved around the thing, trying to lead the fire away from Alistair guarding the Warden with his shield. Solas watched in a mix of amusement and amazement as the elf crouched behind the shield, having gathered herself from the tumble she suffered while damaging its wing.
He didn't know what she said to Alistair, but they moved as a unit around the dragon; Alistair protecting them with his shield as she snuck around its tail and back around to the head. Solas took note of the Warden carrying Alistair's longsword tightly in two hands. The dragon all but forgot about him as the Warden brought the sword down on its neck, while it was busy breathing fire at Alistair. It took two swings but the head came off.
"FUCK YEAH!" The Warden let out a triumphant cry and spun in a circle, excitement in her voice. "Good job Alistair!" She turned to him and with a wide goofy smile spoke. "You too ice mage. Fabulous bridge."
"It was more of a ramp..." He was too surprised to react properly. He couldn't believe that she had flown on a chain wrapped around a corrupted dragon's mouth, somehow survived the fall, and proceeded to kill said dragon. It was too unbelievable. She burst out in laughter, nodding in agreement and smacked the dragon's severed head as if it was a wooden table between them in a bar.
"Either way. Excellent job." She ducked under the neck hanging loose from the head and joined him and Alistair. "You two alright?" Solas nodded, returning his staff to his back, unsure what exactly he had seen. Alistair let out a loud laugh, pulling her into a hug.
"Thank the Maker you arrived." She laughed, as Alistair spun her around in circles, feet off the ground.
"Careful, I'm pretty bruised." He hugged her once more, before setting her down. "First demons and possessed mages, and now a fucking Blighted dragon. Why does the worst stuff always happen when I'm around you!" There was nothing but humor on her tongue, but Alistair had the nerve to look bashful.
"I'm As'lana of the Grey Wardens." She held her hand out for Solas to shake. Alistair looked on with admiration. The name clicked in Solas's mind as he took her hand.
"The Hero of Ferelden?" She shook his hand but there was a bit of caution in her eyes that wasn't there before. "My name is Solas."
"Well Solas, thank you for the assist. I owe you one." She gazed into his eyes seeing what he didn't know.
"Commander!" A large group of Grey Wardens had come charging out of the Fortress and finally reached them. The Inquisition forces were too surprised to react to the event. "Why the Fuck did you jumped on it!"
"I was channeling my inner Riordan." The Warden Mage let out a long put-upon groan at her response. "I saw an opportunity and I took it. Are you really surprised." She was smiling at dark haired mage that was leading the Wardens who joined them.
"No. But that hardly makes it better." He grabbed the neck of her of armor and pulled her toward him. Solas felt out of place as the mage began healing her, despite her protest that she was perfectly fine. "Shut up. You aren't immortal; taking back a Warden Fortress and what that..." He gestured angrily at the corpse. "...was had to hurt." She shrugged.
"What was that magic you used to call back the dragon?" Solas immediately knew that was not what she wanted to hear. She glared at him, while the mage grabbed her armor and shook her hard.
"You used the crazy shit Avernus taught you?!" He shook her harder, "We agreed that he was insane! You could have died!" She knocked his arms loose and moved to stand behind Solas, sticking her tongue out at the worried mage.
"Jowan, my dearest friend..." She started, but Alistair interrupted her.
"Hey!" Alistair crossed his arms.
"Fine, Solas will be my best friend. He hasn't yelled at me yet."
"Give it time." Jowan smirked, forgetting his anger for a moment. She snorted, throwing up an offensive hand gesture. Everyone laughed, even Solas's smiled.
"I killed a Blighted Dragon! Where the congratulations!?" She huffed out, "I didn't die!"
"Good because I would have brought you back to kill you again." Jowan mumbled back to her, a large smile on his face.
Adaar gathered himself enough to join the group. His force directly behind him. The large group of Wardens silenced as he approached, distrust in every expression. The red-haired elf moved forward, the rest at her back, ready to react her to command. Adaar knew a leader when he saw one.
"And what brings you to the steps of a Grey Warden fortress." She looked behind him. "... with such a large military force?" As'lana had her shoulders back, the air around her changed from the good-natured women to a warrior commander forged in war. Solas was not surprised these men and women followed her.
"I am Inquisitor Adaar." He stood straighter and didn't continue. She cocked her head and turned to Alistair raising an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry... I wanted to stop Commander Clarel... and I didn't know you'd return..." He stumbled out his words, face reddening. As'lana hummed and looked back at the Qunari.
"Well, Inquisitor Adaar, as you can see. Our internal conflict had been resolved." She shifted. "You are more than welcome to the corpse of the dragon and the Magister for my subordinate wasting your time."
"That is not good enough."
"I don't really care." She cut him off. Solas felt the tension building in the air and did not think a conflict between these two forces would benefit anyone.
"Inquisitor..."
"Shut up Solas." Adaar snarled, eyes narrowed at As'lana. "The Grey Wardens of Orlais aided a Blight Magister and were going to give him an army of possessed mages to conquer the world,"
"I don't see any corrupted mages, nor do I see any demons." She stood loose, confidence and power radiating off her. "If we conducted punishments on things that could happen, the world would be nothing but the dead." She glanced at the men and women behind her. "The issue with Clarel is settled. The Grey Wardens will continue to deal with our internal conflicts as we have since our founding."
"They almost destroyed the world!" Adaar raised his voice, as she kept her cool.
"And the world would not be here five times over if they did not exist. All things built and controlled by beings with minds of their own will make mistakes." She squared her shoulders, fire in her eyes. "I do not work in coulds and maybes. The being you fight will not have my brothers and sisters while I am here to correct their course."
"Fuck you!" Adaar pulled his sword. "You are nothing but monsters. With Corypheus in the world your order is a liability that needs to be controlled and dealt with." She raised her hand stopping the Wardens behind her from attacking the Inquisitor for raising a blade against her.
"I have no wish to fight you Inquisitor. Enough Warden blood has been spilt this day." She wiped the dragon blood from her forehead.
"If you think you can command my brothers and sisters better than I. Prove it." She turned, holding her hand out for Jowan's staff. He gave it over without a moment of hesitation. "Solas, you should return to his forces." She smiled warmly at him. "I'd hate for you to become involved in our conflict." He nodded, but moved to the center taking neither side. "Shall we?" She stepped forward, and the Inquisitor charged her.
The fight was one-sided with the Warden playing with the Inquisitor. He may have battle experience and skill, but he was no Grey Warden with ten years of battles and endless war under her belt. She tossed him with a grunt and pinned him with the staff pressed into his neck.
"Settled?" He nodded breathing heavily from the excursion. "Excellent." She offered him a hand up, but he knocked it away standing up himself.
"You need to leave Orlais." She returned Jowan's staff, an annoyed smile on her face at the Inquisitor's order.
"I planned to." She stretched her tight muscles, too much happened today. "I have no desire to keep my family anywhere near those who would mean them harm." She gave him a meaningful look. "Once again, you are welcome to the dragon and Magister for your trouble." She frowned looking at the fortress again. "There is room in Adamant if your people need the shelter. Sadly, I have nothing else to offer." she raised her hand and made a circling motion with her finger. The rest of the Grey Wardens glared at the Inquisitor, but started their walk back to the fortress. "Dareth shiral, Inquisitor." She waved, moving to join her Order.

A/n That's it, the whole scene. I have a bit more of the Inquisition hanging out in Adamant, but it's mostly a bunch of Dialogue so I'll spare you. I love exploring more abilities possible with being a Grey Warden. I firmly believe the Blight is a part of the Void and has its own type of magic and rules; like the dwarves seem to. Avernus giving you the blood weapon skill no matter your class was a big inspiration for this chapter. What else does he come up with?! I can't stop asking myself.
I also can't help how much I love the asshole Inquisitor. I won't apologize for it.
