Chapter 11 Chats With the In Laws

Sora's POV

The Next Day

I was coming back from the store when I heard somebody call out my name.

I turned around, and saw Kairi's father.

"Sir", I said nervously as he walked up to me.

"Hello Sora", he greeted. "How have you been doing? Have you been enjoying your time married to my daughter?"

"Yes sir", I replied. "Very much. The time I have spent married to her have been the best days of my life."

After I said this, Kairi's father looked at me in shock.

But then, he smiled at me.

"I'm glad to hear that", he stated. "I hope she makes you very happy."

"She has", I stated. "I hope that I make her feel the same way."

"I have no doubt in my mind that you do", Kairi's father reassured me.

"You really think so", I asked hopefully.

"Trust me in this Sora", Kairi's father commanded. "Her face would light up whenever she talked about marrying you."

After Kairi's father said this, he did something that took me by surprise.

He...grabbed my hands...and said this.

"Sora", he started. "Thank you."

"Huh", I started in confusion. "Thank you for what?"

"For saving my daughter", Kairi's father replied. "She means everything to me. Please take care of her."

Now it was my time to look at Kairi's father in shock.

And it was also my turn to smile.

"I will."

Kairi's POV

I was folding laundry in Sora's room, when his mom walked in.

"Hello Kairi dear", she greeted.

"Hello ma'am", I greeted.

"Are you folding Sora's laundry", Kairi's mom asked in shock.

"Yep", I replied.

"Well", Sora's mom started. "That explains it."

"Explains what", I asked in confusion.

"Explains why Sora's laundry was suddenly being folded", Sora's mom replied. "He's supposed to do it himself, but he never does."

After Sora's mom said this, both her and I burst out laughing.

"That sounds like my Sora alright", I pointed out.

"Yep", Sora's mom agreed. "Anyway, since you're helping out with chores, do you perhaps want to help me make dinner?"

"I would love to."

One Hour Later

I was helping Sora's mom cook dinner, but as I was doing so, I noticed that she was smiling.

"What are you smiling about", I asked in confusion.

"Oh", Sora's mom started. "It's nothing. It's just..."

"It's just what", I asked in confusion.

"It's just...nice to finally have a daughter to do these kinds of things with."

Hearing this took me by surprise.

And then...I started crying!

"Kairi", Sora's mom started before cupping my face with her hands. "What's wrong honey?"

"I'm sorry", I apologised as I wiped the tears from my eyes. "It's just...I've never had a mom before."

After I said this, Sora's mom looked at me in shock.

Then...she smiled before hugging me.

"Well", she started. "Now you do."

"Is...", I started. "Is it okay if I call you mom?"

"Of course."
