I'm still continuing the story. Don't want to leave you guys hanging. Everything just went delay A LOT.

???(1): How's our son doing, honey?
???(2): He's doing fine, darling. Nothing abnormal is happening to him. Why'd you ask?
???(1): That's good. Because, he will need to grow strong enough to save this world from its decaying state.
???(2): What are you talking about?
???(1): Remember the manuscripts that we found? If it's true, then our son shall be the one to use it.
???(2): Are you kidding me? You want our son to become a weapon? Let alone our incoming second born!
???(1): Not a weapon... but... a savior... I want him to free this world from Papa's grasp, before it gets even uglier.
???(2): What made you really think he will?
???(1): It's humanity's only chance of freedom... from this hellhole...
As the conversation took place, the young Ryusuke is in his room, staring into nothingness.

Mobile Aerial Fortress: "Cosmos"
Marmoset: Our parasite reserves have dwindled to 60 percent after the last battle.
Gorilla: Don't you think we went too far by blowing those plantations up?
Vice Chairman: The ends justify the means. Humanity now has control of Gran Crevasse. Hrighorni's construction has entered the final phase, too.
Papa: The time has come. I've already sent two messengers to you-know-where. This will likely be our final warning to them. There is no need for two keys. Now, Klaxosaur Princess, what will you choose?
Meanwhile
That day, in the battle of Gran Crevasse, our plantation was left in ruins. But we're still living here in Mistilteinn.
We are to stand by and wait for our next mission. One month has already passed since we were given those orders.
As Zorome is looking out the ruins of Plantation 13, he saw an aircraft that caught his attention.
Zorome: Oh, it's Papa!
Upon further speculation, it was just another supplier arriving. This dissapoints Zorome as he let out a sigh.
We children have always lived by ourselves, but some things have changed now. The damage to the plantation has affected the water supply system, and we're also had to restrict our electricity usage. And to top it all off, our mysterious caretakers are gone now.
Both Futoshi and Miku sets up the clothesline before to boy ties up the other end of the rope, hanging the blankets high up. As Kokoro was doing the girls laundry, she heard someone drumming on a frying pan, and that person is none other than Zero Two herself.
Miku: Talk about making a racket.
Kokoro: She's on messenger duty this week?
Miku: Looks like it.
Futoshi shut his ears due to the annoying sound.
The only thing we were told was that food supplies would be delivered to us once a week. That was all. We're spending our days completely in the dark about things.
As Mitsuru is picking up the lake water in a glass, he noticed the condition of the water.
Mitsuru: The water's starting to go foul here, too.
Hiro: Yeah. But it might be drinkable if we filter it.
Mitsuru: That said, there's no telling how long we can keep this up. The water supply to this area could stop at any time.
Hiro: Yeah, you're right.
A few seconds later, they heard the pan noise from behind them. Looking back, they see Zero Two.
Zero Two: Found you. Time for breakfast, you two.
Mitsuru throws the water back into the lake and follows Hiro and Zero Two back to the boarding house.
Meanwhile, in another dimension...
During this one month, I was given to take a break until the next mission or if we were to have a meeting. This gives me the time to do something I haven't done in decades.
As Orb is standing with his arms crossed, he is surrounded by a group of robot soldiers called the "Legionoid", both α (Alpha) and β (Beta).
Orb: Do you guys really think you can just take something from me that I already own? *reveals a red glowing crystal in his hand*
The robots then tries to gang up on him at once, but Orb dodged them by jumping up high in the air. He puts away the crystal and takes out his Orbcalibur. The Legionoid βs fire their Legionoid Gun Beam towards him. Thought they got him, Orb emerges from the smoke and unleashes a crescent-shaped wave of energy towards the robots, destroying a group of them as they explode.
The other Legionoids attacks him as Orb is flying around to evade their attacks. He then pulls up the Orbcalibur. It then show Ryusuke and Orb rotating the Calibur Wheel, selecting the Wind Symbol. He then presses the trigger and spins the wheel, activating the power.
Orb: Orb Wind Calibur!
Orb creates a powerful tornado by swinging his sword in a circular motion, sending the whole robot army flying around him. To finish them off, Orb performs the Origium Ray by charging energies in his hands, forming a ring of Light, before performing the standard "plus" sign and firing an energy beam towards the Legionoids, destroying all of them.
Orb: Another day, another successful mission!
Orb paused for a moment before turning around.
Orb: Time to get home, before anyone notice.
He then encase himself in a blue energy sphere and flies away in the speed of light.
Zero Two: Take care of this, darling.
As Zero Two and Hiro are filling up the water glass, Ichigo is preparing the food trays. Zorome and Futoshi then enters the dining room.
Zorome: Man, this again?
Ichigo: What else can we do? You don't have to eat it if you don't want it.
Zorome: Hey! I didn't say I wouldn't eat it!
Enter Ikuno.
Ikuno: I'll help.
Ichigo: Nah, it's fine. Anyway, has your fever gone down?
Ikuno: I'm used to it now.
Zero Two: Let me check on you first.
Ikuno: Huh?
Then, Zero Two feels her forehead with her own. Everyone around them is confused, except for Hiro.
Zero Two: 36.7 degrees... Normal body temperature. But don't push yourself, okay?
Ikuno: G-Got it. Thanks.
Then, enter Ryusuke.
Ryusuke: Good morning, everyone.
Zero Two: Good morning!
Ikuno: Good morning.
Ichigo: Where have you been, Ryunai?
Ryusuke: Just wandering around.
Ichigo: Wandering around?
Ryusuke: Yeah. Come on, let's all eat.

Squad 13 (except for Zero Two): May Papa's heart me filled with peace for eternity. Let's eat.
Everyone then digs in their food.
Zero Two: Morning laundry: okay. Carrying the rations: okay. Thirty minutes for breakfast. After that...
Miku: You're awfully meticulous. Nobody's going to complain if you go a bit off-schedule.
Zero Two: That won't do! We all agreed to these rules! We're the only ones here, so we gotta obey them.
Miku: Wow, look who's turned over a new leaf.
Ikuno: What happened to your wild side?
Zero Two: My wild side can rest for now. Since our invisible caretakers are gone, we have to take the turn to take care of ourselves now.
Miku: Hmm... makes sense.
As everyone is eating their food, Futoshi didn't take a single bite at he put his spoon down.
Hiro: What's wrong? Do you not feel well?
Futoshi: Oh, no. Just, uh... You know! I'm dieting!
Zorome then spits his water out of disbelief.
Zorome: You? Dieting? You ain't cut out for that.
Futoshi: Say what?
Zorome: Also, it'd just be a waste of time. We don't-
Later
Dr. FranXX: Any of you haven't made contact, I hope?
Ryusuke: Only I have contact with them.
Dr. FranXX: Good, since you're the only one that I can trust to help with the project. If the two of you intervene with the children, this whole project will be ruined.
Nana: Doctor, I fail to understand this. If we keep this up, all our efforts will have been in vain. They went to hell and came back alive. I'm sure they'll continue to be major assets to Papa and the rest. Even if we are to keep the test going, we should at least-
Dr. FranXX: Always so inflexible. You've been down this road too, you know. Anyway, keep it up, Ryunai.
Ryusuke: Understood.
Nana: Wait, Doctor!
Dr. FranXX's transmission ends.
Nana: Good grief! What is with him? *looks towards Ryusuke* And why does he only trust you with the kids?
Ryusuke: Relax, Nana. It's just for their own good.
Nana: What are you two even on about that?
For a moment after that, Nana felt a strange pain in her head.
Meanwhile, Hiro and Goro went to the basement to restock the supplies.
Goro: It's been a whole month. How long will we have to stand by?
Hiro: Do you want to get back in the FranXX already?
Goro: You know, we were fighting battles in which we could die at any time, but not having to fight makes us all uneasy too, huh? I'm surprised, though. I thought you were the one most obsessed with piloting the FranXX.
Hiro: Goro...

Kokoro: You want me to cut your hair? Where is this coming from?
Mitsuru: Well... I thought I'd be going for my original again...
Kokoro: I see... Okay, let me finish watering the plants first.
Mitsuru: Sure, thanks.
Later, Kokoro is seen cutting Mitsuru's hair.
Mitsuru: I was starting to remember something.
Kokoro: Huh?
Mitsuru: Remember when I mentioned that I used to hate Hiro before?
Kokoro: Y-Yes...
Mitsuru: The reason why I used to hate him back then was because...
Kokoro: Because?
Mitsuru: ...was because he used to broke a promise about something between us...
Kokoro: Between the two of you?
Mitsuru: Back in the early days, I asked him if he could promise me to ride a FranXX with me once we become Parasites. He said yes and we waited for the time to come. But then, because of him and Zero Two are considered special subjects, we had to be separated. He had apologized, but I was too naive and immature back then, which is why I thought that he left me. It was until he joins our squad, apparently. He said that he'd hope that they are able to join the squad that I'm in. It was that moment I felt about forgiving him... at least from time to time. And here we are, surviving in a broken Plantation.
/silence\
Kokoro: Look up, Mitsuru.
As Mitsuru looks up, he sees Kokoro chuckling.
Mitsuru: W-What? Does my hair look weird again?
Kokoro: No. You look very handsome.
Mitsuru: *blushes*
Kokoro: If you understand that, you can start all over again. Even after the misunderstandings, I believe that he still kept his promise you guys made.
Mitsuru: Thank you... It's funny. Hearing that from you makes me feel like I can do anything.
Kokoro: *blushes*
Mitsuru: Kokoro, you're very kind. And you're gifted with your hands...
Then, out of nowhere, Kokoro touches Mitsuru's lips with hers. After realizing what she's doing, she backs off.
Kokoro: Wait, no... What...
Mitsuru: K-Kokoro-
Kokoro: I-I'm so sorry!
Kokoro shortly left the greenhouse, leaving Mitsuru questioning about her.
Later
Hiro: Goro developed a fever last week, too. It must be the Child Fever. Everything changed in that battle, like our environment and our lifestyle...
Zero Two: *noticed something*
Hiro: Zero Two?
Hiro looks at the direction where Zero Two is looking, which are the trees.
Hiro: Oh, those are sakura buds.
Zero Two: Sakura? What are the flowers like?
Hiro: What are they like? Well... Oh, they're a really pretty color. The same color as your hair.
Zero Two: *chuckles* I can't wait to see them.
Hiro: What do you think of our lives right now?
Zero Two: I'm having fun.
Hiro: You don't find it a pain?
Zero Two: Not at all. In fact, I'd love to live like this forever.
Hiro: *chuckles* I feel the same way, actually. I do have my worries, but all of this is new, and it's so interesting and exciting. And...
As Hiro is about to hold Zero Two's hand...
Zero Two: Ah! I was supposed to go bathing with the girls!
Hiro: Huh? Oh...
Zero Two: No peeking, darling~
Meanwhile, in the lake
Miku: Did you see Mitsuru's hair?
Kokoro: H-Huh?
Miku: *smiles amusingly* So you really did cut it for him, Kokoro.
Kokoro: *laughs nervously*
Ikuno: He looked pretty good.
Ichigo: Yeah.
Zero Two: *spots a fish* Fishie!
Miku: *stops her* Hey, sit right!
Zero Two: Okay~!
Miku: Your hair really is so pretty.
Zero Two: Darling also said it was a pretty color earlier. He said flowers the same color would bloom soon.
Then, Miku pours water onto Zero Two to wash off the shampoo from her hair.
Miku: Do you two always talk about corny stuff like that?
Zero Two: Says the one who did it with her partner as well.
Miku: *blushes extremely* W-What are you talking about?! M-Me and Zorome only... you know... hang out in one room.
Zero Two: Doing what~?
Miku: Like hell I would tell you! Not to mention, you always go touching Hiro and even see him naked once!
Zero Two: *gets up* Now you've done it!
Zero Two then playfully tackles Miku to the water, splashing it to everyone nearby them.
Ikuno: Sheesh...
Miku: Hey!
Zero Two: I'll wash your hair for you now, Miku!
Miku: I'll wash it myself!
Then, Zero Two saw a glimpse of grey hair on Miku's head. Miku was afraid if she found out, but Zero Two ignores it.
Zero Two: Guess I'll take the body, then! *tackles Miku more*
Miku: Wait, stop! That tickles!
Ryusuke: We have around five sources we can use for drinking water.
Mitsuru: And two of them are only usable with filtering.
Ikuno: Can't we repair the circulation system ourselves?
Ryusuke: Mistilteinn doesn't have the equipment to get it back up and running. And despite the fact that I'm an Ultraman, that doesn't mean I can fix stuff without a certain Ultra Fusion Card that has the ability to repair damages.
Futoshi: And our access to the elevator is restricted, right?
Ryusuke: Yeah. Only I can access it.
Ichigo: Can't you fix it yourself, Captain?
Ryusuke: *looks of disappointment* I'm not a plumber, Ichigo.
Zorome: Well, why don't we just send a letter to Papa and ask him to fix it?
Goro: I don't think there'd be any point to that.
Zorome: Huh? What makes you so sure?
Miku: Man, we never realized how big a part the caretakers played in our lives, huh?
Kokoro: Yeah. They always made sure we had hot food and clean clothes.
Miku: What'll become of us if we stop getting rations, too?
Many of them agreed to what Miku said. As they show frown faces around.
Ryusuke: Well, that means we could just cook our own food, then.
All of them were surprised by Ryusuke's idea.
Hiro: You're right. The river still had fish in it. If we can cook them...
Miku: But none of us have ever done that before.
Futoshi: We were never taught how to.
Ryusuke then stands up.
Ryusuke: Guys, there's a valid reason why I'm the Captain here. I'll be here to guide you all how to make food of your own. It's just basic survival skills.
Hiro: That's right! Ryunai has more experience in survival than all of us.
Ryusuke: Plus, I believe we had books about cooking in the study. That should help us more.
Kokoro: *clasp hands* Then maybe we could do it after all.
Futoshi: Yeah!
Ichigo: I want to give it a shot, too.
Everyone looked excited, except for Zorome, who looked a bit annoyed.
Ryusuke: That's that, then! Let's go, everyone!
Squad 13: Yes!
Later
Everyone went outside and started preparing the things. Ryusuke, Hiro, Zero Two, and Goro, all went to the river. While the rest of them had already set up the dining table.
Futoshi decided to start the campfire with Zorome behind, who has his arm crossed.
Futoshi: Look, Zorome!
Zorome: Aren't you dieting? Why are you so gung-ho about this?
Futoshi: But this is fun! Look at this stuff burning up!
The campfire started to burn hotter as the fire blazes aggressively, startling Futoshi. However, it did catches Zorome's attention.
Zorome: Wow, you're right! That's so cool!
Meanwhile, Miku and Ikuno started to make a dough, assuming to bake something, before Ikuno slams the dough on the table.
Kokoro on the other hand is preparing the fruits and vegetables, while Mitsuru is putting yeast in a bowl, probably to make another dough.
As Ichigo walked outside with some table mats in her arms, she sees the four fishermen returning from the river.
Ichigo: Welcome back!
Zero Two: We're back!
Everyone went to see the fishes they caught, with Ryusuke's bucket being seen first, showing a shoal of fish in a bucket.
Zorome: Wow, what a haul.
Ryusuke: I caught about 13 of them.
Miku: Really?
Futoshi: That's awesome.
Miku: How about you Zero Two?
Zero Two: I caught eleven!
Miku: Goro?
Goro: Fewer than Zero Two.
Kokoro: That's still amazing.
Mitsuru: Yeah.
Ichigo: And Hiro?
Hiro: I... uhh... didn't catch any. Hehe...
Zorome: Are you kidding me, Hiro? That's so lame!
Ryusuke: I'll teach you all the tricks later.
Zorome: I'll go fishing next, then!
Miku: I wanna go, too!
Kokoro: Could you teach me how to fish, too?
Zero Two: Don't worry! I'll teach you as well!
Goro: *looks at Ichigo* What's up?
Ichigo: Oh, I was just thinking how the mood has changed.
Goro and Ichigo then looks at the rest of the crew, where Ryusuke and Zero Two are showing off how to fish.
Ryusuke: When the rod twitches...
Zero Two: You immediately reel that thing in!
Kokoro: I don't know if I can do it.
Zero Two: Don't worry. It's easy!
...
Ichigo: You know, this got me thinking.
Goro: Hmm?
Ichigo: If Orb hadn't saved us that day, all of us wouldn't be here by now. I'd had it in my head that Ultraman Orb was sort of different from us. That he had different reasons and goals for fighting. I painted him as an unapproachable enigma... and never even tried to see him for who he was.
Goro: Ichigo...
Ichigo: We'll probably never fully understand what's his true purpose is, but right now, I'm grateful for Orb risking his own life to protect all of us. He's one of us, an irreplaceable part of Squad 13.
Goro: Yeah, I agree.
Ichigo: I want what's best for both us... and Ultraman Orb.
As the evening has approached, the squad had already prepared the food, as there are cooked fishes, bread buns, and mushroom soups on the table.
Zorome: We're incredible! We actually cooked for ourselves!
Miku: Weren't you slacking at first?
Zorome: But I did really help after that!
Futoshi: *chuckles*
Goro: You never know what you're capable of, huh?
Hiro: Yeah.
Kokoro: The question is, how will it taste?
Mitsuru: We followed the book's instructions, so it should be fine.
Ryusuke: Okay everyone, take your seats.
Ichigo: And let's all say our prayers.
Zorome: Forget about it.
Ichigo: Huh?
Zorome: Why should we have to pray when we did everything ourselves? *takes a bite on the cooked fish* Hey! This is pretty good!
Miku: Really? *takes a bite of a lettuce* Yeah, it's totally edible!
Kokoro: Yay!
Everyone then eats the foods on the table.
Ikuno: This is good.
Goro: Yeah.
Ichigo looks around her for a moment before she takes a bite of the bun they baked.
Ichigo: It's actually delicious!
Zorome: Hey, we just did something awesome, don't you think?
Ryusuke: Yeah, we did great.
Zorome: I bet none of the other squads actually cook for themselves, right?
Zero Two: Yeah. I've never seen any others do that.
Zorome: See? We're truly geniuses! Hey, come on, Futoshi. Eat up!
Futoshi: Zorome, you're a bit too rushing.
Zorome: Come on, eat up! This is really good!
Ryusuke: For activities like this are always my favorite. It reminds me when my father used to teach me how to survive in the wild. It was around when I asked him how humans were before the Klaxosaurs came.
Ichigo: Someone's let this go straight to his head.
Ikuno: In a way, that's so him.
Ichigo: Right?
Goro: Wait, isn't he getting a bit too worked up, though?
Then, all of them heard a plate broke. They look back at Zorome and Futoshi, who were seemingly got into an argument as Futoshi's plate has fallen on the ground, shattered.
Mitsuru: Are you okay?
Futoshi: Oh, I'm fine. Sorry, my hand slipped. *crouches down to pick up the remains*
Zorome: Hey.
Futoshi: Huh?
Zorome: Quit forcing yourself.
Futoshi: What... do you mean?
Zorome then helps out Futoshi.
Futoshi: I-It's fine. I can handle this myself-
Zorome: I know you're forcing yourself to eat and throwing it all back up.
Futoshi: Eh?
Futoshi looks back, seeing the rest of the squad looking at them.
Futoshi: *stands up* O-Of course I'm not.
Zorome: *grabs Futoshi's collar* Don't lie to me!
Goro: Hey, cut it out.
Futoshi: ... You're wrong.
Zorome: No, I'm not!
Futoshi: It's not like that! *shrugs him off*
Futoshi looks back at Zorome, who is now making a frustrated face towards him.
Zorome: You'd better eat if you wanna survive! Otherwise... If you keep this up...
Futoshi: It's okay! I can eat! I'll eat it all!
Futoshi then went to the fallen food and tries to eat up the cooked fish. However, him coughing up from trying to swallow the food indicates he can't eat for an unknown reason. Hiro went to comfort him.
Zorome: Why? Why? Look at us. Why isn't Papa getting in touch? Why isn't he coming to get us?
As Zorome began to teared up, Miku also teared up as well. The whole dining table went complete silent.
Zorome: Do you think he cast us aside?
Futoshi: A part of me always thought it wasn't our problem. Even after I saw what happened to Squad 26, I was sure it wouldn't happen to me.
Mitsuru: As FranXX pilots, there's a limit to our lives. We've always received constant reminders of that.
Miku: I was worried the entire time, too. But I was too scared to speak up.
Ikuno: Not just you. I had my fears, too.
Ichigo: Yeah.
Goro: I've been writing to Nana and HACHI to let them know how we're doing. But... they never accepted the letters.
Ryusuke: What?
Zorome: What the heck? You'd already tried?
Hiro: Assuming we really have been cast aside by Papa... I thinks that's fine. I'm not worried as long as I'm with you all. As long as we're together, we can work things out. Look at today. We cooked our own food, and it was a lot of fun. Be it cooking together, or discussing how to go about our daily lives, we've never really spent much time on these things before.
Zorome: I never said I wasn't having fun. It's just, I...
Goro: Fighting is all we've ever known.
Futoshi: I-I had fun, too! Though I couldn't eat it all...
Mitsuru: We can just cook again.
Ryusuke: Yeah, Mitsuru's right. *stands up* Cooking as a group, taking baths, and talking things out... I'm finding all of it so enjoyable and valuable right now. It's making me feel like this is where we truly belong.
Ichigo: Where we belong?
Ryusuke: There's more to our lives than piloting the FranXX. We just have to look deeper into ourselves. More than a parasite, more than a rider, more than a warrior... accept for who we truly are...
Everyone went through different emotions as they're looking at Ryusuke. Goro gave a smile, Zorome rubs his tears, Miku teared up silently with Kokoro holding her hand l, and Futoshi teared up as well. Everyone looked at Ryusuke as if they were given hope by him. Ryusuke looks back at them and sees them as his old squad friends, with a combination of sadness and happiness seen within his eyes. Futoshi began to sob.
Mitsuru: Futoshi...
Zorome: Oh, please! What are you crying for?
Futoshi: You're one to talk!
Zorome: S-Shaddup!
Futoshi: *stomach grumbles* And now I'm hungry!
Miku: *chuckles* What the heck?
Everyone began laughing as Futoshi and Zorome are arguing.
That day, we cried and laughed more than we ever had before.
As the full moon arises, everyone went to sleep.
"Humans! Humans! They have neither the wings to fly nor the claws or fangs to hunt. Such weak and frail creatures, but they are so, so warm. Humans are wonderful!"
Ryusuke: May I come in?
Hiro: Sure!
Zero Two: Come in!
As Ryusuke walks in, he sees some familiar drawings drawn by Zero Two.
Ryusuke: Wait, isn't this...
Zero Two: Yeah. The picture book you gave us to read together.
Ryusuke: You remember it all? That's incredible.
Hiro: Yeah, Zero Two has a very sharp memory. But this story is kinda sad, isn't it?
Zero Two: Yeah.
Ryusuke: You think?
Hiro: Huh?
Ryusuke: It was my first "pretty thing" with Natasha apparently.
Zero Two: Ryunai...
Ryusuke: I know you guys knew I was Ultraman Orb. The saurification that happened between us never lies about it.
Hiro: Ryunai, we didn't mean to look into your-
Ryusuke: No! No, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed in myself that you guys have to witness that tragic memory.
Zero Two: No! We don't mind it at all. I wanted to find the answer to my mysterious dreams, and... it seems I finally found my answer.
Ryusuke: I see. I'm glad to hear it.
Ryusuke then picks up one of the pictures.
Ryusuke: You know, when I met her, I just wanted to have something beautiful with her. She showed me the beautiful side of humanity, after all. It was that time I understood what being a true human meant. You cry, laugh, get mad, and try to live as a group. Humans are complicated, but that is what makes them special. It made me realized why I became Ultraman Orb. I didn't became Orb to become something beyond human, I became Orb... to protect those around me. That... is the true purpose of an Ultraman. You do what is right... for what you think is right...
Hiro: Ryunai...
Ryusuke: Sorry for the emotional talk. I just thought I had to let it out.
Zero Two: Nope, we don't mind.
Hiro: I had to ask. How did you become Ultraman Orb?
Ryusuke: I'll tell you about it later. For now, I think we all should go to sleep judging what time it is.
Hiro sees the clock and realized they're late for bed.
Hiro: 01:00 AM?! Zero Two, we gotta wake up early in the morning! We need to sleep, now!
Zero Two: Aww, just one more picture to draw.
Hiro: Hell no! We're sleep now whether you like it or not.
Zero Two: Okaaaaayyy...
