Chapter Eighty-Three

Monday 3rd March 2025

Bea and Elly continued staring wide-eyed at Yashvi as her hand glowed over Chloe's wound and her eyes were flickering a purple colour. Chloe was doing the same but after about twenty seconds of lying there watching Yashvi's hand glow, she was unable to stop worrying what was happening.

Chloe lifted her shirt revealing her gunshot wound.

Elly's eyes bulged, surprising even Chloe who thought Elly was used to all things supernatural, "You're healed!"

Bea's eyes went as wide as Elly's did in shock, with Yashvi removing her hand quickly hiding it behind her back, terrified to even look at it in case it was still glowing.

Chloe grunted, "I've still got the bullet in me…but I am…healed…not fully but I feel like the bleeding has stopped and getting this bullet out of me won't be so hard for the surgeon… Yashvi, how did you do this?"

Before Yashvi could tell Chloe that she didn't have a single clue how she'd managed to somewhat heal her, they were interrupted by the same nurses whom had attended to Chloe earlier. One of the nurses immediately saw that Chloe's wound was not as bad as it was when she had been brought in.

Yashvi's eyes were still flickering so she faced away from the nurses as the other three girls feigned innocence over the wound changing at all and that it was always like the nurses had now found it.

Before the nurses could argue anymore about the state of the wound, Yashvi mumbled, "I gotta go," before taking off in the direction of the waiting room's exit.

Bea stared off at her fiancé whom had bolted quickly.

Elly herself stared at her younger sister before nudging her, "Go."

"What?" Bea asked.

"Go after her," Elly elaborated.

"I can't leave you here alone," Bea decided.

"Mark and Aaron should be here soon and one of the sisters is bringing Aster too because I know she couldn't bear to be apart from Chloe. I know what it's like to want your person next to you when you need help. Yashvi is your person, go after her and help her," Elly insisted, then when Bea opened her mouth, "I'm home, Bea. I will not run away again, I promise you."

"You better not," Bea threatened before smiling at Elly for allowing her to go after Yashvi, handing her the bag of spare clothes she had brought for her sister, then down at Chloe, "I'll see you as soon as you get out of surgery."

"Thanks, Bea," Chloe whispered.

No sooner had Bea taken off after her fiancé, the nurses started wheeling Chloe's gurney over towards the lift without much notice to Elly.

Elly quickly reached back out for Chloe's hand, catching up quick to the gurney, "You'll be fine, so will the baby. I'll be here waiting for you to open your eyes for me and so we can know the baby will be perfectly healthy."

"I love you," Chloe whispered softly, as she reluctantly let go of Elly's hand as the gurney was been pulled into the lift.

"I love you too," Elly affirmed as she watched Chloe lying there and the nurse pressing the buttons in the lift.

Seconds before the lift doors closed, Mark and Aaron suddenly appeared, running up behind Elly, almost taking her by surprise, which was unlike the werewolf to not sense someone she knew coming. Elly realized how jittery she was at the prospect of Chloe going into surgery.

"Where's Chloe?" Mark asked immediately.

Elly could only point inside the lift, where as soon as Mark and Aaron turned, they saw Chloe lying there waving at them before the lift doors immediately closed and the two brothers realized they had barely gotten there in time to see their sister before she went off for surgery to remove a bullet.

As soon as the lift doors closed, with Chloe swiftly taken off for surgery, Mark turned to Elly, "What the hell happened?"

Elly didn't want to deal with Chloe's brothers, she didn't want to deal with anything at the moment, she'd spent the time she did have with Chloe after she'd been shot, trying to keep Chloe's spirits up to be positive that everything would be fine for her and the baby. Truth was, Elly was scared beyond belief that she was going to lose her girlfriend or baby or both…

"Elly?" Mark half-shouted when Elly hadn't answered him, ignoring when Aaron reached out to place his hand on Mark's shoulder to calm him.

Elly groaned at Mark's persistence, wishing Bea hadn't left her alone, "Pierce happened. He tried to kill me but instead he shot Chloe and ou-her baby."

"For revenge because the baby isn't his…?" Aaron asked, then a little quieter, "Is the baby…Pierce's…and Chloe is making out that it's not to hide it from him?"

"Revenge, probably except Pierce was after me, not Chloe, she got in the way when she tried to save me…can't believe she did that," Elly still hadn't processed Chloe taking the bullet for her, then snapping at Aaron, "The baby is not Pierce's!"

Elly didn't want to take Aaron's question out on him but she refused to let anyone think the baby was Pierce's, even though she and Chloe were unprepared to explain how the baby was hers because they were hoping they wouldn't have to until closer to the baby's birth.

Chloe and I were meant to have more time to work out how and who we tell the truth to…please let us still have that time…

Less worried about the baby's paternity than Chloe herself, Mark demanded, "What led up to Pierce shooting Chloe? Were you two together? Chloe disappeared several days ago, was it to go after you? She told us she went after the baby's father to begin a family with him, why'd she end up with you where Pierce tracked her down before the police could?"

Cause Pierce is a raging psychopath… Yes, we're very much together…should I tell the boys that or wait to see if…when Chloe wakes up! Yes, Chloe came after me… I think you'll find you're misquoting Chloe's letter, Mark, she told me she wrote to you telling the pair of you she was going to the baby's "parent," not father! Because Chloe and I were just starting our lives together…

Though Elly wanted to answer Mark's questions with the thoughts running through her mind, Elly settled on telling him, "I've been with Aster and the family members she grew up with when I…went away the first time. We've been living on the Island…Pierce's Island…nobody else was using it and it became our own little…sanctuary-"

"Who in their right mind would live on an Island…there's no electricity…or toilets…or basic human needs to stay there longer than a few days?" Aaron interrupted.

Werewolves whom can live without many of those things…Pierce's little glamping site he'd set up came with portaloos that still work and also Raven hooked us up to wifi and basic electricity out there…don't ask me how…

"We did, simple life is easy when you take away all the distractions that aren't needed," Elly answered simply, "Chloe worked out where we were and she came after us. She's been with us the past few days. I don't know how Pierce tracked Chloe down but he was angry and wielding a shotgun when he found us together. He aimed the gun at me and Chloe…she stepped in front of me…she took the bullet for me…and now I might lose her…and the baby…"

Mark and Aaron both sensed that there was something Elly wasn't telling them. They wanted to ask if there was something going on between the two women that had led Pierce to want to shoot Elly, with Chloe there at risk of being hurt too. But they both felt like Elly was too stressed and wound up to want to answer all their questions and they had a feeling whatever was going on with Chloe, needed to be explained by their sister, so they needed to hope that Chloe made it through surgery.

"Why don't we…take a seat and just wait to hear news about how Chloe's surgery goes?" Mark suggested, "Aaron, is David working at the moment? Can he get someone to give us an update as soon as there's anything they can tell us?"

Elly held up her bag of spare clothes then down at her outfit which consisted of a jacket unruly buttoned up and the towel around her lower half, "I need to change, I'll be back in a minute."

Elly didn't wait for an answer as she went off on her own to the bathroom to change her clothes.

A few minutes later, Elly wandered over to one of the empty seats next to where Mark and Aaron were sitting.

Elly felt like she was in agony waiting to know everything would be okay with Chloe and their baby and she was so unsure what, if anything, she could possibly explain to Chloe's brothers about their relationship and that of their baby. She knew deep down Chloe wanted those closest to them to know the truth, be it if there was a way that they could keep Elly's werewolf nature a secret for fear of the danger that could happen if the wrong person found out.

Like Pierce.

Elly didn't remember that the bullet that Chloe had saved her from was made of silver, she didn't know Pierce knew her secret. The moments after Chloe had been shot and Elly had turned into WolfElly, turning Pierce into a wolf too, Elly barely remembered it.

All Elly could think about was Chloe and the baby, as she waited to hear news on both of them, and for Aster to join them.

Elly had heard Aaron saying something about not having heard back from David but that he was working at the hospital that day.

A few moments later, Clarke and Abby entered the room. Elly jumped up and ran over to them, to thank them for saving Chloe and helping to get her to the hospital. Elly soon introduced Chloe's brothers to the pair, unable to avoid smirking when Clarke nearly crushed Aaron's hand when she shook it in greeting him, accidentally forgetting how strong she was for a moment.

Later, David had finally received Aaron's messages and was now running between those waiting for news of Chloe and the baby's fate and getting the updates for them from the surgeon.

Elly finally managed a smile on her face when she heard Aster's voice calling out to her, turning to the youngster whom was running into the waiting room to her. Elly's face fell when behind Aster, came Raven, heaving Pierce on her shoulders.

Did I kill Pierce or turn him into a werewolf…? I can't even remember…he must be alive otherwise Raven wouldn't have carried him all the way here…

Elly's smile soon returned when Aster was safely in her arms, cuddling up to her.

"Thanks for your message you were at this hospital and not the one closer to the Island," Raven announced, then grunting at Pierce, "This one needs stitches…"

Abby recognized immediately that Pierce was a newly turned wolf and on Raven's nod that she was right, realized that she would be best to handle Pierce's injuries to avoid anyone finding out if he began healing too quickly.

As Mark and Aaron sat with their mouths open at the sight of the brunette with Pierce lugged over her shoulders without much complaint, Mark finally stumbled out that once Pierce was in a hospital room, he'd be handcuffed for the alleged shooting. Elly wanted to point out there was nothing "alleged" about what Pierce had done but didn't have the energy to argue.

Abby and David rushed over to Raven and Pierce, with Abby surprising David by telling him that she was a surgeon at the local hospital and would be fine to stitch up Pierce's wounds without any trouble. David wasn't going to let Abby do so alone, knowing he didn't have authority to grant another doctor access to their hospital supplies, but when he got a call from the nurses in Chloe's operating theater, he gave in and showed Raven which room she could dump Pierce into and where Abby could find supplies to work on his injuries.

David rushed off for the update on Chloe, leaving Elly clinging to her daughter, praying it was good news but fearing for the worst.

Please be okay, Chlo…I cannot lose you or the baby…

As everyone waited for news on Chloe's surgery, Yashvi stumbled into Harold's Café, where her parents were standing behind the counter, mid-conversation.

Ignoring the handful of customers that were enjoying their meals and coffees, mostly because her eyes were still flickering a purple colour, something she had seen for herself when she'd seen her reflection as she rushed away from the hospital.

Yashvi walked up to the counter, demanding with a firm voice to her parents, "What's happening to me?"

Dipi opened and closed her mouth as she saw her daughter's eyes changing colours.

Shane stared between the two women, before settling on Dipi, "I think it's time I told her, Dip."
