EC - So nice of you to say! TBH I like writing fics that expand the universe so to speak as opposed to only focusing on the one couple! There is lots of things happening with all of them and I can honestly say that there's a reason for every thing written and every loose thread I write about, I will come back to it even when you think it's not important! Hope you like the supernatural being Yashvi is!

The Chemistry In Darkness

Chapter Eighty-Four

Monday 3rd March 2025

"I'm a what?!" Yashvi half-screeched at her parents as she sat with them at one of the booths at Harold's Café.

Shane pursed his lips as he glanced at Dipi once more, then back to Yashvi, "Half-druid, half-mage."

"And those are what again?" Yashvi demanded, before shaking her head in disbelief, "You're actually telling me that the supernatural is real and that both of you are a part of it…and now I am?"

"Your father is a druid and I'm a mage…and yes, the supernatural world exists…and now you're a part of it, Yashvi," Dipi answered simply.

Shane put his hands on the table in front of him, "Druids are like…guardians to the supernatural creatures that live amongst the humans in the world. Your mother is a mage…kind of like a magical being whom can cast basic spells…without the use of wands, they aren't wizards, they can make enchantments but their main purpose is healing powers through ice and fire, elements and such."

Yashvi closed her eyes for a moment, breathing deeply, before repeating, "The supernatural world exists? How could you hide this from me?"

Dipi reached across the booth, taking Yashvi's hand, glad when her daughter didn't pull away from her, "We wanted to tell you, Yashvi, but this secret…if the world at large found out about what we are…it'd be too dangerous for us to live as we are in the community. There was only a chance that you would inherit your powers from us so we…decided to wait to see if you did or not. We should have warned you so you were prepared…we just…we were afraid what you…or Jay or Kirsha would think about us."

"There was only a chance I'd be like…you both?" Yashvi tried to take in.

"Your Uncle Toadie's human, he doesn't know I'm not. Same with your Uncle Stonie. The Druid gene skipped a generation in our family, I inherited it from my grandfather, not Big Kev or Angie. Your Mum's mage powers came from her mother and only women in the family have had the powers. We thought there was a chance because it skipped a generation in my family…it'd be the same with our kids," Shane explained.

"And you're…a guardian to supernatural creatures…?" Yashvi tried to process the news, "Wait, does that mean there are more…supernatural…beings in Erinsborough?"

"There's definitely some werewolves," Dipi revealed, thinking about Elly despite knowing she'd disappeared once more, "And a few other beings that maybe we can explain to you another time when you're…okay with all this."

"I have…healing powers using the elements…?" Yashvi went back to that point which seemed relevant considering what had happened with Chloe, "I didn't need any elements when I almost healed…"

Shane was intrigued, "Is that how you figured out something was happening to you and you came to us? You healed someone?"

"Yes…no…kind of…I didn't heal Chloe completely but I think I helped…it was a bullet wound so it's not like I could remove it," Yashvi revealed.

"Chloe's back? And she was shot?" Dipi was shocked.

Yashvi shrugged, "I don't know much other than Elly brought Chloe into the hospital saying that Pierce had shot Chloe…and Chloe's pregnant. Pierce shot her in the abdomen so they're…worried if she and the baby will survive."

"Pierce shot his own wife in the stomach? What, did he not know she was pregnant?" Shane wondered.

Yashvi sighed, "I only knew because Mark and Aaron told Bea…when Chloe took off last week…she told the boys that the baby isn't Pierce's…maybe he wanted to end the pregnancy?"

Dipi thought back to the few interactions she'd had with both Elly and Chloe over the past few months, "Whomever is the parent of Chloe's baby…I'm sure Chloe will survive this along with the baby, then works things out between them."

"I hope so," Yashvi accepted, "So, how did I nearly heal Chloe if I didn't use any…elements or whatever it was that Mum does?"

Dipi looked at Shane before answering, "You might be more powerful than we thought you could be…sharing both our powers."

"What does this mean for my future? Can I still have a normal life with Bea?" Yashvi wanted to know.

"Of course," Dipi assured her daughter, "Why don't you take some time to accept this? We can talk more over the next day or so what this means for you."

"Sure…I guess I could use some time to wrap my head around this before I…delve more into all this…supernatural…stuff," Yashvi decided.

"We know it'll take some time and there's a lot more we probably need to tell you," Shane agreed, "But there is one thing we need you to do…don't tell anyone about us or you. We can't have the wrong person finding out and…coming after us."

"Yeah, I guess," Yashvi nodded, struggling to comprehend hiding this from Bea.

All three suddenly looked up when Bea entered the café, looking worried. Bea was relieved to find her fiancé with her parents, "There you are. I've been looking all over for you."

Dipi and Shane nodded at the two women then moved away from the booth, allowing Bea to sit down next to Yashvi, before walking back over to the counter. Shane then wondered aloud to Dipi, "Yashvi, did realize I meant she could tell Bea, right?"

"As if Yashvi would ever lie to Bea, she knew what you meant, that it's other people that is too risky to tell. You always have to be honest with your partner when your part of the supernatural world," Dipi replied.

Shane thought back to the past, "Aren't we glad we told each other early in our relationship…who knew we both had a similar secret to tell?"

"Makes us made for one another like those two," Dipi smiled at her husband then over at the two women.

"What's going on?" Bea asked Yashvi.

"Nothing," Yashvi lied, "Nothing's going on with me. What happened at the hospital was just a trick of light, that's all."

"Trick of light?" Bea was puzzled, "Your eyes changed colour which is the second time that has happened or are you forgetting when we went out with the girls after our engagement party? And your hand glowed with a white light? And Chloe's wound was definitely somewhat healed after that happened?"

"I told you…it was just a trick of light!" Yashvi said firmly, "I didn't heal Chloe, we just wanted to see that kinda thing happen because we didn't want to see how bad the wound was, that's all."

"You're lying to me," Bea realized.

"No, I'm not," Yashvi insisted, then changing the subject, "Go back to Elly at the hospital…she's been missing for months, she needs you more than I do."

"No, she doesn't," Bea said.

Yashvi stared into Bea's eyes, "Yes, she does. I need to go to the Station to see what to do about arresting Pierce. I doubt Mark would've had time to think about that when he's worried about Chloe's surgery."

"I can come with you. Elly will call me when there's news about Chloe," Bea offered.

"You need to be with Elly and the others. I'll come by when I have some news on getting a warrant for Pierce or if we can track him down," Yashvi decided, then before Bea could make her change her mind, released Bea's hand and got up out of the booth, "I'll see you when I can. Tell Elly I'm glad she's back and tell Chloe when she wakes up, I hope the baby is okay."

"Okay," Bea uttered, confused by way Yashvi was pushing her away, but could only watch her disappear.

Back at the hospital, Elly was becoming more and more impatient at waiting for news on Chloe's surgery. David had been called away after the last update he got an hour ago, which had simply been that the surgeon had found the bullet but was having trouble removing it safely from Chloe without affecting the pregnancy.

Elly had a momentary distraction when Clarke got a phone call, only to find out that her girlfriend, Lexa, had been found unconscious and somewhat beaten next door to the café she worked at. To say it was a shock that the qualified fighter had been beaten by anyone, let alone the fact she was a werewolf, was frightening to say the least.

Lexa had been taken to the local hospital, the one Abby worked at, as opposed to Erinsborough. Clarke was annoyed to hear that Lexa had only been found when the staff at the café thought her girlfriend had blown off work after taking off before they had barely opened for the morning but then found her out in the alleyway when they went to throw out some rubbish.

Clarke had taken off to check on her girlfriend, with Raven tagging along, wanting to support her sister and to see if she could find out whom had attacked the werewolf enough to have knocked her unconscious for hours on end.

Elly wanted to be worried about what had happened to her best friend but she just didn't have it in her to worry about anyone else besides Chloe and their baby. Lexa had the right people to worry about her and to figure out what had happened to her, and knowing the werewolf, Lexa would be out of that hospital within hours with her accelerated healing abilities.

Bea had returned but had been quiet about how things had gone with Yashvi. Elly had lost track of if Abby was still helping Pierce sort out the wounds that she knew was her fault for attacking him, despite deserving it, and she wasn't ready to deal with the ramifications if she had turned Pierce into a monster like her.

Karl and Susan had arrived at the hospital when Bea had called them to inform them Elly had returned with Aster and that Chloe had been injured in a shooting. With her Aunt and Uncle happily distracting Aster, Elly continued to worry about what was taking so long with Chloe's surgery and just waiting for David or someone to give her some inevitable bad news.

Eventually, Elly could barely stand waiting any longer for news. Needing to stretch her legs, Elly silently got up and walked down the hallway, finding herself in an empty hospital room, pacing from side to side.

When Elly had walked off without a word, Bea had looked at Mark and Aaron, seeing the worry they both had for her too. Even though, she wasn't prepared for Chloe's brothers to join her, Bea got up to follow Elly, with Mark and Aaron hot on her tails. Bea wondered if it had been more of a case that the two men still wanted more answers over why Chloe had landed in hospital with Elly at her side, then what Elly had so far revealed.

The three soon found where Elly was pacing back and forth in one of the hospital rooms. Bea called out to her before entering, "Elly?"

Elly saw the three standing there, "Is the doctor back with news on Chloe and the baby?"

Bea looked up at Mark and Aaron sadly, before back at Elly, "No, we just followed you because we're all worried about you."

"I'm fine," Elly lied.

"No, you're not," Mark called Elly out, "What's going on with you?"

Bea suddenly felt like she was back to having her conversation with Yashvi, knowing full well her fiancé had lied to her and that she needed to wait until Yashvi was ready to talk to her. Bea wasn't prepared for Elly to blow her off and do the same, "Elly, you have been stressed out to the max from the moment you got here with Chloe. I know you two are back together and that's-"

"Wait, you and Chloe are back together?" Aaron interrupted.

Bea saw the look of annoyance on her sister's face, "Sorry, you were pretty open about it when I saw you two together before Yashvi and I needed to…go sort out her problem. I figured you would've told these guys when you were waiting for news on Chloe."

Elly threw up her hands in annoyance, then looked at Chloe's brothers, "I didn't know if Chloe wanted you two to know yet. I thought it might be better coming from her."

"Right…" Mark said in surprise at the news, then matter of fact, "Well, that's…a surprise."

"Not to me," Aaron boasted gently, "I knew Chloe ran off to be with someone she loved rather than just some random guy whom knocked her up when she could easily just pass the baby off as Pierce's."

Aaron's comment absolutely infuriated Elly, she hated the thought that their own family would think Chloe had gotten pregnant from a stranger. She knew she had already snapped at the pair that the baby wasn't Pierce's but she could sense they still believed there was a chance that Chloe was trying to hide the fact the baby was Pierce's.

"Chloe didn't get knocked up by some random guy and before you suggest it again, Pierce is not the person Chloe conceived this baby with," Elly growled out at them.

"Elly, you are really agitated right now," Bea pointed out, "I get your worried about Chloe and things between you and her might be complicated and you're still probably working through how a relationship between you could work because Chloe's only just left her husband and she's pregnant to another man and you're worried about if you'll be raising her baby with Chloe or if Chloe might lose her baby…or maybe you haven't even had time to work out how Chloe's baby will-"

Fed up with the constant reminder that everyone thought the baby was either a strangers' or Pierce's, Elly finally snapped, "Alright, I am going to tell you three this once and then you are going to shut up about it and not tell anyone else unless Chloe and I do. And I do not give a crap if this does not make sense to you because it is the truth and that is all you need to know."

Taking a breath, Elly revealed, "I am agitated because I am stressed out wondering whether Chloe is going to survive and I am terrified that my baby has been lost. This baby is not Pierce's. This baby is not some stranger's that Chloe hooked up with, nor some guy that she knew and hooked up with. Chloe's baby is my baby. Chloe and I slept together last time I was back in Erinsborough and we conceived this baby together. I am this baby's Mum just as much as Chloe is. This baby is Aster's brother or sister. This is my child that Chloe is pregnant with. I'm the Mum and I am terrified that Chloe and I are going to lose our baby before we get a chance to meet our miracle baby."

Bea, Mark and Aaron stood there with their mouths open, unable to speak.

"Do not tell anyone, you don't need to understand how this has happened, you just need to know that it has," Elly added, before storming off past the three back to the waiting room.

Bea and Aaron stared at one another in confusion, with Aaron finally uttering, "I don't think Elly's talking like she wants to raise this baby with Chloe no matter who the baby's father is…she actually has me convinced that this baby is hers which is…how can that be? Unless Elly's transitioning into a guy…I don't get it… Do either of you get it?"

Bea could only shrug, "Elly's definitely not a guy so…I don't get it. Mark?"

When Mark didn't answer, Bea and Aaron looked at him, to find that Mark simply looked like he was trying to work out the world's hardest math's calculation in his head.

Aaron shrugged back at Bea, "I don't think he gets it either."

"Who would?" Bea wondered, not even sure how Elly could believe such a thing.

Next time - Pierce has a confrontation with an old foe! Who is it? Will Chloe make it through surgery?
