The Chemistry In Darkness

Chapter Eighty-Nine

Monday 3rd March 2025

Raven walked to Pierce's hospital room. She found him alone, sitting up in the hospital bed, beginning to jangle his handcuff against the bedframe it was locked to, clearly trying to loosen them as he was tired of been locked up against his will.

Raven spent a moment simply watching him. Pierce was blinking wildly, sniffing the air and shaking gently, beginning the slow process of accepting he'd been transformed into a werewolf.

As Pierce began pulling harder at the handcuff, Raven worried if Pierce would soon work out that his body was gaining strength and ripping his wrist out of the handcuff soon wouldn't be an issue. And the last thing the werewolves needed was Pierce off on his own unable to handle his abilities and exposing them to the world.

Pierce jumped when Raven stepped forward into his hospital room, "What's happening to me? I want you to tell me. Am I one of you?"

"One of what?" Raven teased Pierce without answering.

"A werewolf," Pierce grunted back.

"Maybe, maybe not," Raven leant against the hospital room door, "Maybe you're the same guy you've always been...nothing has changed in you."

Pierce gently smiled at the thought, "You think I'm the same guy? I'd like that...I've made some mistakes but I'm not a bad guy."

Raven screwed up her hand into a fist at Pierce's claim he wasn't a bad guy, "You really think that? That you're…not a bad guy?"

"I shot Chloe…I was just…you don't know what it's like to need someone in your life like nothing else matters…" Pierce uttered, not knowing that Raven did indeed know exactly how that felt now that she had met her mate and was meant to be heading off on her first date with her, "I can make things right, Chloe will forgive me and she'll come back to me."

Raven nearly choked at the thought, not even wanting to bother to explain to the new werewolf about the mate bond and that Chloe had already found that with Elly. She pitied the thought of the person who could ever end up being Pierce's mate after what she'd seen him do to Lexa.

Raven ignored Pierce's claims that he could win Chloe back, "Is shooting Chloe the only…thing you regret doing?"

Pierce shrugged, "Yeah, it is. Biggest mistake I've ever made. But I can fix it, Chloe will realize that soon enough no matter what has changed in me…I'm not a monster, I'm the same guy she fell in love with and chose to spend her life with."

"You are a monster, Pierce," Raven replied sternly, "I'm not talking about you been a werewolf…you were a monster before that…Chloe didn't realize the monster you are when she got together with you and married you."

Pierce felt a pain at Raven not including that Chloe fell in love with him, "You don't know me."

Raven swallowed hard as the vision of Pierce's attack on Lexa ran through her mind all over again, she wondered if she could find a way to forget it, "I saw what you did."

"I didn't think you were there when I shot Chloe," Pierce remarked.

"Not the shooting…what you did earlier today…I saw what you did," Raven hinted darkly.

Pierce stared at Raven blankly, trying to bluff her with his innocence.

Raven awkwardly found herself stepping further into the hospital room, "At the café…this morning…before you got to the Island…I saw what you did."

Pierce blushed at remembering pissing all over the café buildings wall, "You were there?"

"No, I was on the Island…sleeping…but it doesn't matter where I was…I saw what you did," Raven muttered.

"The chick remembered and told you, did she? Thought she was asleep. Look…I just…took a piss against the wall…public urination…I had to go…it's not like I pissed all over the chick," Pierce claimed.

"I saw what you did," Raven repeated, these words becoming her mantra for trying to keep calm and not do anything rash.

Pierce swallowed hard, Raven's words starting to worry him, when he had been so sure he had been alone that morning in the alley and that he had knocked Lexa unconscious, "Okay, okay…I beat up your friend…is that what you want to hear? I wasn't myself…I just wanted to get to Chloe on the Island so I could win her back…the chick got in my way…it was just a little chloroform…she's fine…"

"I'm not talking about your tiny little dick taking a piss or you beating the shit out of my friend," Raven glared at Pierce, "I saw what you did."

"Nobody was there…you're just trying to scare me into confessing something I didn't do because you think it'll keep me away from Chloe," Pierce claimed.

"You're right…no one was there…except the security camera across the road…I saw what you did," Raven revealed.

All the colour in Pierce's face drained, there was nothing he could say.

"It's a pity…the whole…werewolf thing happened to you…because do you know what you deserved after what you did, Pierce?" Raven asked, then answered herself, "Jail…for decades. Been a bottom for a fat hairy man with a large dick…such a pity that's not in your future."

Pierce shuffled his bum awkwardly in the bed, uncomfortable at the mere suggestion of any man touching him inappropriately.

Raven watched Pierce's movements, before adding, "You don't know Lexa's history…do you?"

"What would I care about that bitch?" Pierce yelled defensively.

"If you knew how much abuse Lexa had suffered in her life as a human…before she became one of us…you never would've done to her…what you did," Raven decided, before changing her mind, "Or maybe you would've…you are a monster, Pierce."

"You don't know anything, you're just making up what you saw because you want Chloe to stay away from me, you'll fill her head with lies," Pierce insisted.

Raven thought for a moment, "I'm not going to tell Chloe."

"You're not?" Pierce was gleefully surprised.

Raven stepped forwards once more before she then sat on the edge of Pierce's bed, "No, I'm not. Not for your sake, please trust that. I can't tell Chloe what you did because then Lexa will find out and after all the trauma that she's endured over her life…I should've known that something was wrong when Clarke and I picked Lexa up from the hospital when we found out she'd been bashed…she said she was sore and she couldn't remember anything…probably for the best…you do not want to even contemplate what Lexa or her girlfriend, will do to you."

"You're bluffing," Pierce replied smugly, "You didn't see anything. You and your kind aren't going to do anything to me. I'm going to break this handcuff off my wrist, I'm going to walk out of here, you'll never see me again. If I am a werewolf, then I'll find a place to lock myself up during the full moon, nobody will find me, I won't hurt anyone. I'm not a monster."

"I saw what you did," Raven repeated all over again, "And for that you are a monster…not just because you're a werewolf, Pierce. You're lucky, y'know that. I'm not Elly, she'd tear you to pieces. I'm definitely not Lexa or Clarke, they'd rip every inch of your skin from your body and let you bleed to death. Chloe…well, I don't know Chloe well enough but I'm sure she'd give you a right handful of slaps to your face. Me…I'm not like them…I'm the perky, the happy-go-lucky, never-breaks-the-rules one."

Pierce opened his mouth to reply but Raven cut him off, "But just this once…I'm not going to be that person that I am…I'm going to make sure that you never hurt a single person ever again. I'm betting you saw Elly transform into the beast that we really are."

"Yes," Pierce gulped in fear of the memory of seeing Elly turn into a monster and attacking him, "Elly's a monster, not you and not me."

"How many times do I need to remind you…? I saw what you did," Raven repeated, tiring of Pierce claiming his innocence, "I'm done arguing with you over what I saw…let's cut to the chase here."

Pierce rattled his wrist against the handcuff, feeling trapped.

Raven didn't need to get angry like the other werewolves to transform into her true wolf form, not to say that she wasn't angry at Pierce but anger wasn't her trigger. She was a little bit different to the other werewolves, Raven could transform to the real beast whenever she wanted. She didn't need to let her anger take hold of her; she could transform at will and had the consciousness of her human self whilst she was the wolf which meant she remembered everything during her state as a wolf and could transform back into her human form whenever she wanted.

And so, Raven transformed into her true wolf form. Much like WolfElly's form, WolfRaven was several meters tall, covered in fur yet even more ferocious than WolfElly.

Pierce couldn't scream for help, he was too afraid to make a single move, he knew it was pointless. There was nothing and no one that could save Pierce from his fate.

As WolfRaven sat on the edge of the hospital bed, Pierce suddenly begged, "I just need to be able to say one thing…"

But all the words of pleading his innocence and yelling in terror didn't make their way out of Pierce's mouth, as instead the only word that came to his mind when he saw WolfRaven stand high above him was a plea to go to the "Bathroom?"

Pierce's final word was uttered as he felt the warmth of pissing himself in his hospital bed, drowning his hospital gown in his urine.

But that was soon the least of Pierce's feelings as WolfRaven chomped down on his head and within minutes had devoured him with several large bites.

A few minutes later, WolfRaven had reverted back to her human form with Pierce nowhere to be found, eaten up entirely, his handcuff hanging limply against the side of the hospital bed. Raven took several steps over to the bedside table, where there happened to be a set of clothes, a pair of pants, t-shirt and men's jacket, sitting neatly folded. They weren't Pierce's clothes he had come in with as Raven supposed that the hospital had provided him with a basic set of clothes seeing as though no one had come to bring him any supplies.

Raven quickly slipped into the clothes, knowing they were oversized but they would do to get her out of the hospital without been naked. Though she would have to go barefoot as her shoes had ripped up when she'd transformed and she didn't fancy wearing Pierce's shoes that were way too big for her. Raven threw her torn up clothes and shoes in the bin, figuring they might arise someone's suspicions when the police realized Pierce was no longer in custody but not overly concerned. She'd cleaned up the mess that Pierce had left behind with a few blood splatters but overall, it was a clean kill with nothing left of the man.

"My first kill…hopefully my last," Raven mused.

Raven soon looked up as she heard people rushing towards the hospital room, looking up to see Clarke and Lexa arrive.

"Where's Pierce?" Lexa demanded, "Chloe told us what Pierce did to her ex and it triggered my memory of him attacking me with chloroform outside the café."

Raven worried that Lexa had remembered more than that but seeing as though the pair looked thoroughly pissed off at Pierce rather than in a rage to kill him, she realized she would take Pierce's actions to her own grave, praying that the smell of her kill wasn't lingering, "I think Pierce escaped. I don't think we're going to see him again."

Clarke stared at her sister questioning her statement, "Pierce is gone? How?" then as she stepped forwards into the room, she screwed up her face, at the sight of the bed, "Eww! Did Pierce piss the bed?"

Raven stared down at the urine-stained bedsheets, relieved that it seemed Pierce's accident was overriding the smell of her kill, "Looks like it, doesn't it? Must've been so embarrassed that he couldn't bear to tell the nurse he pissed himself so he dislocated his thumb out of position to get out of the cuffs and made a run for it."

"Great, now we have to go looking for him to make sure our new wolf boy doesn't expose us to the world," Lexa groaned, "And beat the shit out of him for how much he's traumatised Chloe, Elly, me…oh and Chloe's ex."

Raven shrugged, "I don't think Pierce is going to be a problem for us. He's not going to tell the world about werewolves, he'll keep our secret because he knows that if anyone finds out that he is a werewolf…he won't be able to have any kind of life because he'll be experimented on by the government. Trust me, we won't see him again."

Clarke stared at her sister all over again, "What are you wearing?"

"I thought a suit look for my first date with Anya would be…smashing…and different…but I do need to stop by the shops on my way to meet her for some new shoes…okay maybe a whole new outfit…it's not smashing, is it?" Raven came up with her excuse.

Clarke shook her head, "It's different but it's not you and you is who you're supposed to be…we'll take you shopping now before your date…we'll worry about Pierce's escape tomorrow."

"Let's get out of here then," Raven replied happily, leading Clarke and Lexa away from the scene of the crime she committed.

Later, that evening, when it became clear to hospital staff that Pierce had 'escaped,' his hospital room was cleared out ready for a new patient to be admitted. The bedding all had to be replaced. The janitor was now emptying the bins in the room, he frowned at the sight of the torn-up clothes and shoes before tying up the bin bag.

The janitor then froze as behind the bin lying on the floor was a severed human finger. He picked it up and examined it for a moment.

Shrugging the janitor plopped the finger into his mouth, chowing down on the human fresh, declaring, "Sloppy kill."

As the janitor replaced the bin with a new liner, he muttered to himself as he was chewing on Pierce's finger, "Bloody werewolves…always gotta leave their clothes and bits of their kill around for me to clean up…" then trying not to retch, "This one tasted like ass!"
