Chapter Ninety-Three

Saturday 26th July 2025

As the moon had risen high in the sky, Elly sat alone at the dining table at the Kennedy's.

To say the last 24 hours had been a nightmare was an understatement.

Chloe and their unborn baby were still missing.

No one had found them, nor been able to track the mysterious wolf whom had his powers during the New Moon.

Elly had refused to call Bea and Yashvi to tell them what had happened to Chloe, worried it would ruin her sister's honeymoon. Even though she knew how close Bea and Chloe were as friends and that Bea would be furious when she found out it had been kept from her, even if Chloe was home safe by then.

Everyone else that cared for Chloe knew she had been abducted.

Those whom were human were relying on Mark and the police to track down the man that had taken Chloe.

Those whom were supernatural were relying on Romulus using the FBI contacts he had as well as Clarke and Lexa using their tracking senses to find the wolf that had taken Chloe.

It was the worst news for Elly when she had returned to the site of Chloe's abduction earlier that morning with her werewolf family. Their powers had been restored after the New Moon ended, and none of them could find anything to track the mysterious unknown wolf. He didn't leave his scent anywhere. The best trackers Elly had ever known, couldn't even work out where he had made his escape with Chloe and it was only through Mark's contacts at the police that a photo of a van running a red light blocks away gave them any clues how Chloe had been removed from the area.

This wolf seemed to have powers unlike their kind and it left Elly unnerved that they would ever find her beloved and unborn baby.

Elly had lost her mind with theories over whom would be out for revenge against her family.

When Elly's insistence to frame Pierce for the abduction got out of control earlier that day, Raven finally took Elly aside, admitting to her friend that she had murdered Pierce at the hospital months earlier. Pierce had never run away to seek his revenge against the couple months later.

WolfRaven had eaten Pierce from head to toe.

Astonished that Raven had kept this secret so long and that she of all of the wolves had become a killer just like the rest of them, when she was the opposite of all of them, Elly was just glad to have the relief that Chloe's ex-husband was not the one conspiring with a wolf to take Chloe and their baby from her.

Elly knew that if she got the chance to tell Chloe what had happened to Pierce that it would give her partner so much peace of mind too. As Chloe too had worried deep down that her ex-husband was somewhere out there just waiting to pop up at an unexpected moment to destroy their happiness and impending family life with their own child together.

Pierce been eaten alive screaming in pain was the only good news Elly had received since Chloe had been taken from her.

Elly hadn't slept at all the previous night, her worries about Chloe and the baby had kept her from been able to rest. All the endless questions about where Chloe was, if she was alright, if their baby was safe, who had taken her, why had Chloe been the one whom was taken when Elly been powerless could've been the victim herself.

Now as she sat all alone at her former home in Ramsay Street, Elly was facing another night of the same questions swirling around in her mind unable to let her have a wink of sleep. If not be worse, because The Pack had been unable to come up with any way of tracking the wolf, when she was so sure once their powers resumed, they would have Chloe home that evening.

Aster was devastated for her Mum that Chloe and the unborn baby had been taken from them. She felt like their family was falling apart but knew she needed to be strong for her Mum. Aster had allowed Karl and Susan to do what they could to distract her whilst Elly and the rest of their friends worked to find Chloe and bring her home.

Elly stared at the empty mug of tea that had been sitting in front of her for several hours now. Her ability to believe in the mate theory, that nothing in the world could come between her and her mate, was fading by the minute that Chloe hadn't been found.

How can nothing in the world come between us when Chloe and our unborn baby were taken from me by a wolf whom shouldn't have had his powers and I was the one powerless to stop him? That I should be out there doing everything in my power to find the woman I love and I'm stuck here. I'm letting everyone else from the humans to the wolves doing what they do best to find Chloe, because even though Karl and Susan have been looking after Aster for me, I still need to be there for her, and I am no use to attempt to find Chloe myself because I'll lose myself in the desperation to get her back. That someone needs to be here in Ramsay Street, just waiting for a knock on the door and someone to tell me that Chloe and our unborn baby have been found alive and we-

A knock at the Kennedy's front door broke Elly's rambling thoughts. Elly stared at the door.

Please tell me that's someone at the door to tell me that Chloe and our unborn baby have been found alive and well…I need them back, it's all I need in this world!

Elly was at the front door, opening it, before the person had finished knocking on the door, she was desperate for good news and her powers of movement allowed her to pull the door open quicker than expected.

Good news was not what was standing on the Kennedy's front door step.

About as far from good news as Elly could imagine.

Elly's mouth fell open and before she could process a single thought, the man before her, held out his phone in front of her to see the photo on the screen displayed.

A photo of the last moment Elly had been happy.

Elly standing with the happily married couple, Bea and Yashvi, with Aster in front of the women.

Bea's Facebook update of her status to "Married"! Fuck…he saw it…he knows…he's here…now…Why…?! You know why…

"Looks like my invite to Bea's wedding got lost in the mail…and I've missed more than I ever thought possible," the man eyed Elly with suspicion.

Elly nodded guiltily, unable to argue with him, even though this was the last thing in the world she needed when her mate and unborn baby were missing and she needed all her focus to be on them and bringing them home to her.

And yet as much as she wanted to, Elly was unable to shut the door and forget she ever answered it.

"Shaun?"
