Mira Ortez walked out of Broken Hill RFDS base briskly, she was a woman on a mission.
"Mira! Where are you going?" Graham yelled as the whole team followed her out.
"I am not going to sit here and let the man I love just walk away all because he didn't get the job. I'm going over there and telling him just what I think." Mira yelled back as she broke into a run to make sure she got over the other side on time. You do not mess with Mira when she puts her mind to something.
Mira ran through the front doors of Broken Hill airport and looked around, she spotted him last in line at Gate 2.
"Wayne! Wait!" She yelled, sprinting towards him.
"Can you give me five?" Wayne whispered to the attendant behind the desk who nodded. "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong? Everything! I can't let you leave without you knowing my true feelings. I love you, I have from day one. You are my rock, my everything and I don't want you to leave. Darren doesn't deserve you leaving him again, Timmy needs his younger brother to help look after him. So after everything I am telling you and you still wanna go to Melbourne then you do what you need to but I had to tell you, I couldn't keep it bottled up anymore." Mira said, her words just tumbling out. She stood there and looked at him, hopeful. Wayne looked back, he did love her
Alot. He couldn't leave his son or brother again.
He turned to the flight attendant but not before he caught the hurt expression and the tears running down her face as he turned.
"Give this to someone who needs it," Wayne whispered as he handed over his ticket to the lady behind the desk who was crying. "I'm going home to my girl."
Wayne turned around and Mira glanced up tears streaking down her cheeks. They started walking towards each other, Wayne gathered Mira into his arms and whispered comforting words.
After 5 minutes, he pulled away and wiped her cheeks, he leant in and kiss her passionately to show her that he too reciprocates her feelings.
"Let's go home," He said, taking her hand in his and walking out the door. "How did you get here so quick?"
"I ran. I ran for you. I ran because of you. I ran for us and for Darren and Timmy," Mira said as they crossed over to the RFDS carpark to where his car was parked. Luckily for him he had his spare key with him, he unlocked it and put everything inside.
"I declined the job offer in Melbourne, Leonie was offering me another SMO position that was coming available," Wayne explained, as they walked inside the main building.
"Asshole," Mira muttered. "I'll go in first seeing as you wanna be like that."
"I love you too," Wayne laughed, letting go of her hand as she walked away.
Inside the hangar the team were waiting anxiously.
Mira walked in alone and their faces fell. Darrennwas the first to hug her closely before everyone followed suit and joined in.
Then all of a sudden Darren looked up and saw his Dad walking through the door towards them.
"Dad!" He said, letting go of Mira and running up to him and hugging him.
"I'm here to stay, I promise." Wayne said to him and everyone else as they all hugged him tightly, thankful that he decided not to go.
Wayne wrapped his arms around Mira and Darren and kissed them both on the head
He looked around and saw how happy everyone was and he knew that this was his family and this is where he belongs.
