After leaving the note for Merlin to find, Harriet went back home and started to pack her things for boarding school which she was already late for. Harriet quickly put on a jumper to cover the blood on her shirt and left for the train station at once as Professor Dumbledore had gotten the train to come and pick her up. She still had the blood on her hands but couldn't be bothered worrying about that at that moment. Harriet sat in one of the compartments and finally let in all the emotions she was feeling. She sat there in tears crying all the way to Hogwarts. During the ride about halfway there, the Trolley Witch knocked on the compartments sliding glass door. Harriet quickly stopped crying and wiped the tears off her face and told the Trolley Witch she wasn't hungry. As soon as the Witch had left Harriet started crying again. When the train had finally arrived at Hogwarts Harriet again put on a brave face and got off the train, and to continue making her summer worse it was Professor Snape waiting for Harriet as she got off the train. Instead of being his normal cynical self Snape actually looked a little concerned for Harriet though he didn't ask what was wrong. As they entered the school Harriet heard a commotion coming from inside the Great Hall. Snape instead of letting her go in the Great Hall steered Harriet towards Dumbledore's office. Harriet thought this wasn't that strange speaking that she was incredibly late for the start of school.
Once they arrived at Dumbledore's office Snape told her to go inside and wait for him. Harriet had never been in his office alone and it felt wrong. Instead of sitting on one of the lush chairs Harriet went and sat in the corner and started to cry again. She went over all that had happened in the past month and she couldn't control her emotions. Ice started to creep up the walls and freeze everything around her. Harriet could hear people whispering outside the entrance to the office but she didn't care, nothing mattered except for the fact that one of the most important people in her life was gone and she couldn't help but feel as though it was her fault. She was suddenly aware that someone had their hand resting kindly on her shoulder and Harriet looked up to find that Professor McGonagall was kneeling in front of Harriet with a kind but concerned look on her face. McGonagall lifted Harriet off the ground and noticed that Dumbledore, Snape and two other men were also in the room staring at her. Dumbledore looked at her with a worried look in his eye and his usual twinkle was gone. Snape didn't have any emotion on his face which meant he was trying at least, since she usually got a glower from him. The other two men looked at her with the same expression on their faces. Shock. Harriet wondered why they would be looking at her like that and suddenly she remembered the blood on her hands and on her shirt which was now showing since just before she sat down she had taken off her jumper because it had gotten too hot for her. Harriet quickly wiped away her tears even though she knew everyone had seen her crying already. Everyone was quiet for a while until Dumbledore broke the silence and introduced the two men standing beside him. "Harriet, this is Barty Crouch Sr." He said, pointing to the taller of the two who had his hair parted down the middle and a toothbrush moustache. "Nice to meet you, Harriet," Crouch said in a tone that was full of pity and Harriet couldn't understand why since he didn't know about Logan. "Nice to meet you too" Harriet replied very quietly as she tries to hold back the tears forming in her eyes. All of a sudden the second man says very enthusiastically "It's a pleasure to meet you Harriet '' while going in for a handshake but Harriet pulls her hand away as it has dried up blood on it. "I'm Ludo Bagman, '' the man exclaimed. Bagman was a very attractive middle-aged man with blond hair and piercing blue eyes. He too looked at Harriet with pity. "Nice to meet you as well," Harriet murmured. The curiosity inside of Harriet became too much and she quietly asked "Why does everyone have a worried look on their face". It was Dumbledore who answered her "Harriet" he paused worryingly "You've been put into the Triwizard Tournament." Harriet looked around baffled "The what?" she asked questioningly. "The Triwizard Tournament is a competition full of difficult and dangerous tasks and people only 17 and up could competeā¦" "If you can only compete 17 and up then why am I in it," Harriet interrupted, slightly annoyed. Dumbledore continued as if Harriet hadn't spoken "The people that wanted to compete that were of age had to put their name on a piece of paper and place it in something called the Goblet of Fire. Tonight we pulled out 3 names 1 from each school since there are 2 other wizarding schools here and they each have a champion. For some reason, your name got pulled out as a fourth champion." Dumbledore concluded. "But since it must have been a mistake, I don't have to do it right?" Harriet questioned. "The rules specifically state that once someone is picked you can't back out, and that unfortunately applies to you as well," Crouch said matter of factly.
Well... my plan for updating every Sunday went to shit real fast. Sorry about that. My teachers have decided they all wanted to give out lots of homework and assessments during this lockdown which is not fun at all. I will try sort out a plan of writing this but it may be a slow process of writing this story.
If you want please leave a review I would love to hear some feedback and try make it better.
