Chapter 6: Bad Luck
Cera was back on Saurus Rock. On the same tooth that fell off. This time, only she was on it and it fell off again. Cera screemed as she fell down with the tooth. Just as Saurus Rock crumbled into peaces and barried her.
Gasping, Cera woke up to find that what happened was just a sleep story.
"Oh what has gotten into you?" Came Topps' voice. "First you believe that Longneck nonsense and now you're having sleep-stories?"
"Sorry Dad. I can't help it."
"You better. You're a Three-horn. You don't have Sleep-stories and never believe in any nonsense."
"Yeah. Hey Dad. Sense Saurus Rock is broken, wouldn't bad luck desend upon the valley?"
"Bad luck? There's no such thing. I told you before, you need to grow up."
As Topps went back to sleep, Cera was starting to worry even more. She can hear her father and friends in her head.
Ducky: First we have bad luck.
Topps: Bad luck.
Ducky: Then the whole dinosaur world.
Grandpa: Bad luck.
Petrie: Bad luck.
(The next morning)
"Bad luck?" Petrie asked as Cera told him what she's afraid off.
"Yeah. Ever sense we came back from Saurus Rock."
"Me no believe in bad luck."
However, Petire gasped as Littlefoot and Ruby walked over with Tree-stars wapped on their tails.
"Littlefoot. Ruby. What happened to your tails?" Cera asked them.
"We got them stuck in a nest of buzzing stingers." Said Littlefoot.
Just then, Chomper showed up with Tree-stars whapped on his nose.
"What about Chomper's nose?"
"Same thing." Chomper answered as Ducky and Spike walked over.
"You don't call that bad luck?" Cera asked Petrie.
"Oh no. Could happen to anybody."
However, Petrie fell down a hole. In which was latter revealed to be a buzzing stingers nest as he flew out with a swarm of them chasing him. Fortintly, he managed to lose them and fly back to the others.
"Do not worry Cera." Said Ducky. "What is a little bad luck?"
"I know a bit." Said Littlefoot. "We know a little bad luck at least."
(Song start)
Littlefoot: If the mountain starts to blow its top that's bad luck.
Chomper: If the sky water falls and it just won't stop that's bad luck.
Cera: If your feet get cought in bubbly goo.
Ruby: And you're stuck no matter what you do.
Petrie: If a Spike-tail sits on top of you.
Ducky: That is bad luck.
Chomper: Hit it Spike.
Spike: Buh buh buh buh. Buh buh buh buh. Buh buh. Buh buh.
Cera: If the log falls down when you cross the creek that's bad luck.
All: Bad luck.
Petrie: If a bee leaves a boo boo on you beak that's bad luck.
All: Bad luck.
Ducky: If a big wind comes and blows and blows.
Ruby: And drops a rock right on your toes.
Chomper: If a fuzzily bug flies up your nose.
All: That's bad luck.
Spike: Buh buh buh.
All: Bad luck. When things go wrong and you feel just like you're cursed.
Spike: Buh buh buh.
All: Bad luck.
Littlefoot: It could get better.
Cera: Yeah. But it's gonna get worse. First.
Chomper: When an Earthshake scrunches up your home that's bad luck.
All: Bad luck.
Littlefoot: When a dangerous Sharptooth finds you all alone that's bad luck.
All: Bad luck.
Ruby: When he chases you into the stream.
Petrie: And your mouth won't work when you try to scream.
Chomper: And you're stuck in the middle of a very scary dream.
All: AAAHHH! That's bad luck.
Spike: Buh buh buh buh buh buh buh.
All: Bad luck.
Spike: Buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh.
All: That's bad luck.
Spike: Buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh.
All: Bad bad bad bad luck.
(Song end)
All of them can see that bad luck. It was happening.
"Are you sure you believe in bad luck though?" Chomper asked Cera.
"At first, I had the bad luck of watching the twins. Now Dad treats me like a baby."
Speaking of Dinah and Dana. They were now walking over to her.
"Cerry. Grampy Topsy. You ho goo goo. Now."
"Uh, your dad wants you home." Ruby transelated for her.
"See what I mean? Now they're in charge of me." Cera said as she walked to them. Only to trip over them and roll onto a pile of tree-stars. "It's just like Grandpa Longneck said. If something bad happened to Suaurs Rock, bad luck will disend upon the valley."
"Maybe." Said Petrie. "But so far, we the only ones having bad luck."
"But what if it'll start happening to everybody? It'll be our fault."
Later, everyone was gathered around a dried up watering hole.
"This is searious Sharptooth." Topps said to Bowser. "What could have made the watering hole dry up like this."
"Hmm." Bowser said as he looked closer. "Judging by the cracks, perhaps the last Earthshake moved it under the ground."
The others were getting upset that this watering hole was dry now.
"Everyone. Please." Grandpa said to them. "Calm down. There's still plenty of water in The Great Valley."
"Yes but this watering hole was the coolest and the clearest." Said Topps.
"Oh why did it have to be the one to dry up?" Mrs. Miea asked.
"Very bad luck if you ask me." Said a black Two-claw.
Cera was watching from behind. She was upset that the bad luck was her and her friends fault. Until she saw Doc not too far away and ran to join him.
"Hello kid." He greeted her.
"Hey Doc. Mind if I hang around?"
"Soot yourself."
As the two had some lunch, Cera began to question him.
"Say Doc. Do you believe in bad luck?"
"Seen too much of it not to."
"Say you're having a lot of bad luck. What can you do about it?"
"Change what you can. Acsept what you can't."
"You can change luck? How?"
"If there's a problem, try and fix it. If not, sometimes you just have to move on."
"But what if you don't wanna move on?"
"Then you're asking the wrong Longneck. I'm a loner. That's how I've always been."
"Do you get lonesome?"
"Sometimes. Sometimes I feel a bit crowded to. There are valleys out there just as nice as this one. My foot steps were panted on the wandering trail long ago. I'm too told to change now."
Not too far away, Grandpa, Topps, and Bowser overheard the talk with Cera and Doc.
"As much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to see that Cera might be right about Doc." Topps said to them.
"For once I have to agree with you." Said Grandpa.
"Even if he is The Lone Dinosaur, we still don't know if the story is true or not." Said Bowser.
