The Kingdom of Hyrule was a very big place. It stretched from the gentle plains of Hyrule Fields to the snowy mountains of the Hebra region. In the center of it all was the capital surrounding the castle, Hyrule Castle Town.

Castle Town was more like a small city than a town. It was divided into the eastern and western parts connected by a huge fountain in the central square. The town was livelier than usual because it was Princess Zelda's eighteenth birthday. Two women walked toward the central square towards Hyrule Castle. One of them was a beautiful twenty-four year old sheikah woman, she wore a light tan high low jacket, dark navy shorts, and dark color high heeled boots. Her silver hair is tied in a bun with a red streak in her hair with small red glasses on top.

The other person was an eighteen-year-old girl with pale blonde hair that is tied ponytail that stops at her shoulders. Her bangs slightly covered her soft blue-green eyes that matched the small patch of freckles around her nose. She wore a light blue tunic with sleeves that stopped at her elbows, tan colored knee-length pants, and dark brown ankle boots. The pair walked past the town and up the castle gates.

The two of them walked to the guards who bowed and opened the castle gates allowing them to enter.

Now Hyrule Castle was truly a sight.

Perched on top Hyrule Castle Moat the path to the castle wrapped around the cliff-like grounds until you reached the sanctum surrounded by the beautiful lush fields with gatehouses and waterfalls. The castle was known to be the largest in the world even surpassing the palaces of the Mushroom Kingdom and Sarasaland. Guards monitored every person that entered the ground checking their invitations and bags as well as survey the castle grounds.

(I'm gonna have to rush to my room and change. I'm not in the mood to deal with the nobles today.) Lee thought to herself ignoring a few of the noble ladies whispering about her clothes. Luckily, her subordinate didn't seem to notice.

"Excited for my sister's birthday party Purah?" the blonde teenager said amused.

The older woman now known as Purah twirled in front of the girl. "Of course I am! Let's not forget my little sister's now a bigwig at Hyrule Castle. I'm gonna party till I drop! Not to mention Lee, it's your birthday too! What I'm worried about is the lab being in shambles." Purah grumbled, twirling his hair.

"I'm sure Mr. Symin can look after the lab. As for my birthday…I'm not sure, I'm adopted and I lost my memory remember?" the eighteen-year-old girl smiled sadly.

There was tense silence between them. Lee was found by King Rhoam, Purah, and Robbie at the age of twelve during an expedition of the Great Plateau's sheikah tower. Nobody knew who her family was and she didn't either. King Rhoam took pity on the girl and decided to raise her as his own child.

But that doesn't mean everyone was happy. Many nobles and citizens alike called her a "Non blood royal", "Non blood", or "lowly commoner in royal clothing" that was her "favorite."

To the kingdom, it was already bad enough that Zelda refused to train to gain her sealing power and was already an embarrassment, which already angered the king and the people. Zelda thought to be spoiled and selfish, an embarrassment to the royal family. They did not want her, another embarrassment as an heir to the throne.

But the King of Hyrule would not hear any of it. He was very protective of his daughters and Princess Lee was grateful for her father. If it wasn't for him she wouldn't want to think where would be. And she loved her kingdom, which is why she worked so hard with Purah and Robbie researching sheikah technology. It was thanks to her research they were able to activate the divine beasts and guardians four years ago when she was only fourteen years old. During this time, her father appointed her as the royal scientist and head of the kingdom's research and development with Purah and Robbie as her subordinates.

But many still consider her not worthy as an heir to the throne. This Lee could agree too, if anything it would be Zelda, but as of right now Rhoam was still king and so far he hasn't decided who would take the throne. And she wasn't in a hurry to take the throne, the princess preferred to do research at her lab.

"Hey don't be so glum Lee, this is your party too! Besides, you have worked hard for Hyrule so enjoy today. Tomorrow we have to go right back to work?" Purah asked her assistant.

From the castle's grounds, the princess looked at the Ancient Research Institute also known as the "Ancient Tech Lab." It was actually her lab that the king gave her in order to continue further development on sheikah technology. Although they did do research at the castle as well, it was mostly done at the royal lab where she directed. Which reminded her why they also came. The International Research Convention was going to take place tomorrow at the Ancient Research Institute. With the rising prophecy of the rise of Calamity Ganon the entire world was on edge. Everyone was to understand the ancient technology before the calamity came.

When they arrived at the castle Purah turned to the princess who was starting to look nervous. "Let me guess. You want to sit this one out." she smirked, her hands on her hips.

"Of course not. I….You know that I'm the one hosting the convention tomorrow and this is my first time too. I just want to go over my notes-"

"Relax, you'll do just fine. You're the expert of ancient technology and if anyone knows about it's you. Believe in yourself." Purah said, placing a hand on the princess's shoulder.

"You're right, thanks Purah." Lee smiled at her friend,

"Right. Now let's party!" Purah cheered, taking her hand and running through the door.

"W-Wait! I still need to change my clothes!"

-Hyrule Castle-

If you think that the castle was beautiful on the outside, then the inside was gorgeous. The luxurious red carpet decorated the floors, large glass windows everywhere. The royal family crest decorated the walls. The castle was livelier than usual since it was the princesses' birthday. The ballroom was filled to the brim with people all over the world, walking around laughing, playing games, and in good cheer.

It was Princesses Zelda's and Lee's birthday and naturally King Rhoam threw a big party for his beloved daughters.

In the midst of good cheer was Peach, Mario, Daisy, Luigi, and Toad, King Rhoam invented Peach to the festival as a guest of honor since the two kingdoms are allies and since they haven't seen Bowser for six months the princess happily accepted the invention. Mario, on the other hand, wasn't too big on the whole thing. "I'm telling you this isn't a good idea." Mario grumbled while taking a sip of wine.

(What if Bowser invades the castle?) he thought in terror. A thought bubble was visible and it showed a cartoonish looking Bowser breathing fire at the castle.

Luigi and Toad sweatdropped at his antics

"Will you stop? It's been forever since we had a chance to relax!" Luigi groaned and that was the truth. It was another peaceful morning at the castle which was NOT normal at all and it's been like that for six months since they've seen Bowser and in all honesty, it was getting into the plumber's head.

"Dude, we're at a birthday party. Will ya just chill out?" Toad snapped, rubbing his head in annoyance, muttering under his breath. On the upper level of the ballroom, a young man sat down at a lone table, he was wearing a black hood silently so it was impossible to see what he looked like.

The sound of trumpets began to play, gaining the room's attention as three people walked in with the royal guard. The first one was King Rhoam, a tall and tanned man with sharp cyan-green eyes, shoulder length white hair and a thick beard. He wore his normal royal attire with a royal robe. His crown on the top of his head gave off the aura of authority and strength.

To his left was Princess Zelda, her long golden blonde hair stopped at waist and her bright green eyes looked around with excitement. She wore a beautiful dark blue dress with the sleeves hanging low enough to reach her waist. and a crown kept her hair in place.

To the Rhoam's right was Princess Lee. Her dress was similar to Zelda's, the only difference was that her dress was a beautiful sky blue color. Her bangs were slightly parted revealing a glittering crown and light blonde hair was not in a ponytail anymore and went down to the top of her shoulders. Her blue-green eyes sparkled in the light, and unknowingly caught the eye of someone who was sitting at the top balcony.

"Welcome friends! I would like to personally thank you for joining me in celebrating my beautiful daughter's eighteenth birthday." Rhoam said in a loud voice.

The room exploded with applause.

"Today we celebrate Hyrule's two jewels. Please enjoy yourselves and let the celebration begin!" the king said.

"What can I get for you sir?" a waiter asked a man who was sitting alone at a table on the balcony.

"Two Noble Pursuits please." the stranger said, handing him the menu. As the waiter went to the kitchen to take the order a blue ball of light flew out of his hood and flew over to the crowd below where Princess Zelda was.

"Mario, would you cut it out! King Rhoam invited us here so stop complaining will ya!" a brownish-orange haired princess named Daisy snapped, she wore a lovely floor length orange dress with a daisy brooch on the center of the dress. Her bright blue eyes looked at the red-capped hero in annoyance. For some reason, Daisy was not wearing her crown.

"Daisy's right. Besides, I have to pay attention to the international convention tomorrow so we'll have to come here anyway." Princess Peach said. Her blonde hair stopped at her waist, she wore a lovely floor length pink dress with short puffy sleeves, a dark shade of pink raised collar and hem of her dress. On the center of her dress was her mother's sapphire brooch and she wore white evening gloves and red high heels. A golden crown was resting on the top of her head.

"That's my point. When was Boswer ever not doing something, Besides, I heard a weird rumor about him while we were at Delfino Plaza the other day." Mario said.

That definitely caught his friend's attention. Peach was the first to break the silence. "Let's talk about it when the party's over. If the rumors are true we may investigate it." the mushroom princess said.

Just then, Hyrule's royal family walked over to the group of heroes. "Greetings King Rhoam, this is a wonderful celebration. Thank you for inviting us to partake in this event." Peach said with a bow.

"Ha ha ha! Come on now, there's no need for you to be so formal! I've been friends with your parents since you were a child. I still cannot believe how you all have grown." Rhoam said with a good hearted laugh hugging the young princess who happily returned the hug.

"Princess Peach, I received your letter the other day. One of your research teams has found more guardians." Lee asked, her blue eyes glittered with excitement. Zelda also looked excited.

"Yes, the report says that the researchers from the Mushroom Research Lab found them outside of Flowers Fields near Toad Town. According to the locals, they're deactivated and the research team has already secured them." Peach said excitedly. Despite coming from two different kingdoms one thing the three princesses both enjoyed was research.

"I heard a rumor that not all of them are on our side, is it still alright to use them?" Daisy asked everyone to hear of the fairytales when Calamity Ganon appeared over one hundred years ago. During that war, the three powerful nations joined forces and defeated him, but in response, he took possession of the sheikah technology. Luckily for them, they managed to stop Calamity Ganon from controlling all of them by burying them underground.

The three nations that won the war and hid the guardians were the people of the Three Great Kingdoms:

Hyrule.

The Mushroom Kingdom.

Sarasaland.

"It's the only way to defeat the X-Naunt Nation. Not only that the fortune teller's prophecy of the rise of Calamity Ganon is still too real, we must use every advantage we have to stop them." Rhoam said to the brown-haired princess. The X-Naunt Nation hailed from the northwest of Sarasaland.

Last year they declared war on Sir Grodus. Grodus an evil man and with his X-Army, he declared war on Sarasaland and managed to kill everyone in the royal family except for Princess Daisy.

In a desperate attempt to protect their princess they send Daisy, the last member of the Sarasaland's royal family to the Mushroom Kingdom where she would be safe.

Peach gave Lee a yellow file where the report was in. "Princess Lee, you are the top authority of ancient technology. If you have the time, I would like you to come and assist us in the study." she requested. The princess looked at her father silently asking for his permission.

"Yes, I agree you should go. It's vital we understand everything about the guardians and divine beasts before the calamity returns. Of course I will.I'll send this to Purah and Robbie for them to analyze. We'll get them in working order so we can defeat Grodus and his X-Army. We also must take the fortune teller's prophecy to heart." the king of Hyrule said grimly.

A tense silence came over them.

"According to all of the research it seems the legends are true. Calamity Ganon existed and how he's coming back. And what about the sealing power and the sword that seals the darkness? We still haven't found it yet." Peach asked worriedly.

Of course everyone knows the story of Calamity Ganon. It's first appearance and how it almost destroyed the world. They were not going to let the same thing happen again, not if they had anything to do about it.

"That's true, but we must not be afraid. One of the great fairies has told our monks where we will be able to find the sword. I believe if we find the sword that seals the darkness. Zelda will awaken her sealing power before Calamity Ganon returns. Tomorrow she will go to the Spring of Wisdom where she will train." Rhoam said not looking at his daughter's darkened glare.

Zelda opened her mouth to speak against this, but Lee stepped on her foot silencing her.

"No need to worry Peach-wait what the?!" Daisy shrieked, pointing to the hylian princess's now floating crown.

Just then, the same blue ball of light from earlier grabbed Zelda's crown and flew away towards the unknown stranger who took the two bottles of noble pursuit and ran out the door.

"M-My crown!" Zelda gasp

"THIEF! GUARDS STOP HIM!" the king ordered.

And was once a birthday celebration turned into a high-speed chase to catch the thief.

"Damn it this bad." Mario said, following the guards out of the ballroom. He ran through the luxurious halls and only saw castle guards lying on the floor unconscious

(He managed to beat all of these guards? ) he asked himself.

Hyrule Castle was bigger than Peach's castle so it was easy to get lost and that gave the thief the advantage. "Crap! Where did he go?" he asked himself

"Mario…. over here." an injured guard called

"Hey, you okay?" the plumber asked, helping him stand.

"Yeah, I'm alright, one thing about the thief is strong be careful." the guard said.

"Where did he go?" Mario asked

"Towards the courtyard, if you hurry you can catch him." the guard said

Just then Lee rushed over to him and the guard. She had changed back to her blue short sleeve tunic, tan knee length pants, and ankle boots. There was a bow and a quiver of arrows strapped against her back with the sheikah slate attached to her hip. Quickly the princess opened up a heart potion and gave it to the injured guard.

(The thief isn't killing the guards. He's only knocked them out. Either he's in a hurry or confident that we won't get to him in time." she analyzes.

"P-Princess! What are you doing here?!" Mario gasped.

"What do you think? I'm getting my sister's crown back. He's trying to get to Hyrule Field, the only way to get there you have to go through the Sacred Grounds. I know a shortcut so follow me." Lee explained putting her crown in her bag and tied her hair in a ponytail.

"But wait a minute you might get hurt.." he said, but he realized that she was already taking off.

"Come on!"

"W-Wait a second!" Mario stammered up following the hylian princess.

….

In the courtyard, the thief hid behind a wall as the group of soldiers passed him by. He climbed up the wall and jumped over the fence making his way down the road towards the forest. "Nice job Navi. That was easier than I thought." he grinned, taking off his cloak and looking at the blue ball of light.

The light dimmed down revealing itself to be a fairy with blue curly hair and purple eyes and the fairy wore a light blue knee-length dress and slippers on her feet.

"I told you that taking the crown would be easier during the party. And Link, you said we should have done it during the night." Navi snickered. Link slowed down and took his head. He had blondish-brown hair and piercing blue eyes, he wore a blue tunic given to him by his grandfather and tan-colored pants with brown boots and most women would consider him to be very handsome. "This would be better if we didn't do this job for them." Navi glared.

He tossed the golden crown he just stole and placed it in his bag. "I know Navi. Let's just get this job over with and go back to our normal thieving days. We're not gonna deal with those losers again." Link promised his friend.

(It's a shame though. This will definitely cost a pretty coin) he smirked. Sensing someone coming this way he quickly put his hood back on.

"Stop! Get back here!" Mario yelled

"I don't think so." the thief grinned while taking off.

"Mario, wait!" Peach ran after him with Luigi, Daisy, Toad, and a few guards not too far away.

-Sacred Grounds-

The Sacred Grounds was a small patch of land located right outside Castle Town. In those woods Link quickly got rid of his cloak destroying it with a match and quickly set it once the small fire did its work destroying the evidence.

(This should be enough to pay off the debt. Then those losers will leave me alone.) Link said to himself.

"Do you have the crown?" a mysterious person said wearing a red bodysuit and mask with an upside symbol on it.

"Yes I do now take it and leave me alone." Link snapped

"Patience now you know we can't do any business here. Meet us at the Gerudo Highlands. We'll talk there." the man said.

Suddenly Mario ran through the woods disrupting the peace. "So there's two of you? Give back the crown!" Mario yelled angrily pointing to the two of them.

"I'll leave this to you." the mysterious person said, disappearing in a puff of smoke.

(I'm gonna rip him in half.) Link gritted his teeth but snapped out of it to dodge Mario's attack.

"You don't give up don't you?" he smirked, grabbing a sword from its sheath.

"Not when I know you have something that doesn't belong to you, now tell me where did your partner go? Where's the crown?" the red-capped hero demanded. Running at the thief cocking a fist.

Link side swept to the left dodging the blows slashed at the hero's right arm cutting a part of his sleeve and kicked him in the stomach sending him flying into a tree.

(That guard is right. He is strong!) he gritted his teeth.

"That fool is no partner of mind." Link snapped angrily.

"Mario! Are you alright?" Lee called running up to him with Daisy, Peach, and Toad not too far behind. She looked at the man who looked at her, both of them looking at each other in shock.

"Lee?"

"Link?! What are you doing here?"

Unbeknownst to all of them, except for Luigi, a red colored moon slowly began to rise in the sky. "Guys the-" he stammered in fear.

"He knows something. I saw him talking to some other guys who probably took Zelda's crown? " Mario yelled, throwing another punch at the thief.

Link pulled out a large shield and blocked his attack. The shield was mainly blue and it had the emblem of the Triforce above a red bird crest. "No idea what you're talking about pal. You got the wrong guy."

"That's the Hylian Shield!" Peach exclaimed in amazement

"Did you steal that too?" Mario growled

"That's none of your business." Link snarled.

"Then we'll take it by force!"

"GUYS SERIOUS WILL YOU LOOK UP!" Luigi screamed, gaining their attention, but it was too late.

The blood moon stood ominously in the sky like a drop of blood as the sky began to darken. It began to glow an evil aura and just then, a black tornado landed in Hyrule Field tossing carriages, trees, and debris sending them flying in different directions.

And it was coming their way.

-Hyrule Castle-

"Your Highness the blood moon has appeared! And it created some kind of storm!" a guard yelled in a panic

"What?! It only appears once every three months!" Zelda exclaimed

"SOUND THE ALARM!" King Rhoam ordered as his guards scrambled to follow his orders. Before looking at the window and saw the twister outside the castle. Then he realized that his Zelda was standing by side. But his second child was not the king and looked frantically around inky to find that she wasn't here and probably went to hunt down the thief.

"No Lee!" the king gasped in fear as he ran out of the castle to find his daughter.

-Sacred Grounds-

"What's going on?" Lee asked herself in fear. A golden aura cloaked her body like a coat shocking everyone then suddenly, a powerful rush of wind knocked her off her feet.

"AHHHH!" she screamed being thrown in the air.

"Grab it!" Link yelled, throwing her a rope. She grabbed the other end of the rope and everyone did their best to help. The tornado was so strong it ripped a tree from the ground, slammed into all of them causing them all to fall into darkness.

Author's Notes

Strange things do occur during a blood moon, but it never created a tornado. What happened to our heroes? Where did they go? We'll just have to find out next time on Super Mario and the Legend of Zelda: The Crystal Stars.

And Princess Zelda's is eighteen years old right now in this story. I know in the BOTW lore she's seventeen, but I just decided to change it a little bit.

I hope all of you have a nice day and thanks for reading!
