Lee sang softly. It was bright and early in the morning at the castle. The sun slowly began to rise to let the birds know that it was time to wake up. This song was her favorite. It always gave her comfort when she was upset about anything. This song and harp were the only links to her past.
A past she will never remember.
"Follow the Book of Stars and find me."
(The Book of Stars..Is this what she meant? What does this mean?) the princess pondered holding on to the book Fi had given her.
"So it is really you then. Been awhile huh?" a voice said softly which revealed to be no other than Link.
"Link. Yes, it has been five years. You couldn't call once in a while,old friend?" she said, slightly bitter.
"I'm sorry I should have it's just-. " Link began.
"Link it's okay I understand. You had to go, after that day I know. I'm sorry for saying that. I…I just missed you." she said feeling horrible.
"No it's not okay. I should have called or written a letter or something. And I…I missed you too, really I did. You're my best friend." Link said softly.
There was a small silence between them. Not a bad one, but a good silence. A comforting feeling of forgiveness between them.
"What's that?" Link asked.
"It's called the Book of Stars. Fi told me to show you guys and find her" the princess explained.
"Seriously?" Link questioned.
"Link, we've seen hundreds of blood moons and the one last night was not normal at all. Something is going on, and we're not gonna get an answer until we figure it out." Lee told her friend.
He had to admit last night was unusual. It was very unusual. And he would be lying if he said there wasn't something going on. "What's your plan?"
"Well first we all need" the swordsman apologized
The two hylians sat in silence watching the sky but it was broken when the mushroom princess came over to them.
"Hey, there you guys are!" Peach called jogging over. "We're all meeting up in the lounge so come on. Breakfast is waiting!"
"No need to tell me twice!" Link cheered.
(He hasn't changed at all.) she giggled softly before running after her new friends.
The beautiful castle of Princess Peach settled in a vast field filled with flowers with a bridge connecting the field to the castle with a river underneath it. Iwas the home to many people from the servants to the royal family themselves. There were over two thousand room and it was easy to get lost but to make it easier the castle was designed into four sections:
F1: kitchen, library, royal lounge, swimming pool, dining hall
F2: servants and guards bedroom quarters
F3: Peach and her friends' bedrooms and guest rooms
F4: throne room and meeting room
The royal lounge was argued as the best in the castle. It was a luxurious room with three flat-screen TVs with a bar in the back. There were two red love seats across from each other with a coffee table in the middle of the room and it also had a red carpet. There was a pool table, an air hockey table, several video game consoles, and two vending machines. Everyone was gathered together in the lounge that afternoon around the table staring at the ancient book on it. "Alright, so who's going to open the book?" Toad asked
Nobody answered. Nobody moved.
"Open it my milady." a mysterious voice said to the hyrulean princess.
She gasped looking around if somebody was calling her, but there was no one there. (Fi?)
"The others will hear my voice soon. This book...it's for you. No one can read this book. But you can." Fi continued.
Following the spirit's instructions she opened the book and the pages flipped to a certain page by itself. There was something written on the page, the group of friends leaned in to take a closer look. "What kind of language is it written in? " Toad asked
"I don't know I've seen this before." Peach said
"Odd it looks familiar, but I can't put my finger on it." Lee whispered.
A bright light similar to the one from the Shrine of Stars as Fi appeared right in front of Toadsworth startling him so badly he fell off the couch.
"Fi! How did you get here?" Navi questioned.
The spirit said nothing, muttering some sort of spell that transported them to the Shrine of Stars.
-Shrine of Stars-
"Great stars!" Toadsworth yelped.
"Where are we?" Toadette asked, looking around confused.
"We're in the Shrine of Stars again." Link noted.
"Fi, you spoke of a great mission, please tell us what you mean? What is happening?" Lee asked her.
"I am your guide for this is the task I have been given long before the calamity. This book is called the Book of Stars. It was written in the language of the Zonai by the Goddess my creator. However, Her Grace has allowed Lee to read this book since all of you have been chosen to complete Hylia's mission." the spirit replied.
"Who are the Zonai?" Navi asked.
"All questions will be answered in time." the spirit replied.
"Well, it seems like we have quite an enigma here. What is this mission you speak of" Toadsworth said, adjusting his glasses.
"The rising numbers of monster attacks, the growth of malice that is poisoning the land, the increasing occurrence of the blood moon. All of this was prophesied ages ago long before humankind remembers. This malice is becoming so powerful it will take over the world and this world will be destroyed. That tornado that attacked you before I rescued you is only the beginning of the end." Fi said in a monotone robotic voice.
"The end…OF THE WORLD?!" Everyone screamed.
"What can we do to stop this?" Peach asked .
"Is there anything we can do?" Lee asked
"This is why Hylia has chosen you all. To aid her in this mission. These are Goddess Hylia's words: 'The Three Legendary Heroes will rise to gather the Crystal Stars. They will not be alone. I will be with them and the gateway to the Door of Stars will open and seal the darkness away.' Those are her words. And the mission is your destiny. You all were destined to do this long before you were born." Fi said.
"So Fi, who are these Legendary Heroes?" Toadette asked.
"Mario. Peach. Link. Daisy. Toad. Lee. Luigi….The Three Legendary Heroes will be one of you. Three of you will hear the voice of the Silent Realm and will awaken as the Heroes and find the crystal stars. I do not know who will become the three heroes only Her Grace, Hylia know. The wheels of fate have begun to turn just as Hylia has foresaw. This is all of your destinies." Fi said.
It was so quiet that only the quiet shimmering of the stars could be heard. All of them were trying to process everything that had been told to them.
Is this really true? What is the world really facing its end? Were they really chosen to save the world from malice? From the calamity?
Could they really do this?
"Whoa…this is blowing my mind. It's kinda unbelievable, I gotta sit down." Toadette said sitting on the star-filled invisible floor.
"Yet it's all true and I'm gonna find the crystal stars!" Daisy declared.
Everybody looked at her in shock.
"Daisy, are you nuts!" Luigi cried not believing in what she was saying.
"No, I'm not, this is the chance to save my kingdom! For two years I haven't been able to do anything to stop Grodus. My people...they're suffering. I can feel it. I have to do something to help them. I know it sounds crazy, but this is a risk I'm willing to take." the Sarasslandian princess said with a fire in her eyes.
"Me too, I'm going with you I promise that I will get your king back and I will!" Mario stood up.
"S-Same here friends always have each other's back." Luigi smiled
"That's right!" Toad and Navi agreed.
Lee looked at the book that was written by the Goddess. (Zelda's power has not awakened yet. And Judging on behavior she has given up and I can't accept that! Maybe these crystal stars can help us defeat the Calamity!)
"I'm going to do this as well. As princess of Hyrule, I too, will protect my people and the world from Calamity Ganon." Lee declared
Link groaned, scratching the back of his head. "You really think your Dad's gonna be okay with this? Besides this sounds like a drag….but I can't let you do this alone so I'm going too." Link said.
" Thanks Link." She smiled
"Are you dating or something because you guys look so cute and close." Toadette asked.
The two of them blushed.
"No! We're friends, we have known each other since childhood." Lee and Link spluttered.
"Oh hehe sorry for assuming." Toadette apologized cheekily.
Peach looked at Fi. "I'm going as well."
"Absolutely not! P-Princess it's too dangerous! You can get hurt!" Toadsworth
"We can't just stay still. Sarsaland has been taken overby Grodus, Bowser is always threatening us, and who knows if Calamity Ganon will show up! I've been wondering when it will be over…. Enough is enough! I'm tired of just waiting on something to happen, tired of Boswer threatening us, and waiting for Mario! I am the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom! I know it will be dangerous. I know you and my parents will be worried about me, but I need to do this. Please Toadsworth." Peach said.
"...You have always been strong Peach, you just need to have faith in yourself. And I have faith in you." Toadsworth smiled, giving her a hug.
"You have all made the first step. Lee open the Book of Stars." Fi said.
The hyrulean princess did as she was told and the pages came to life stopping at a page that showed a mountain with a white star at the top of it. "This is the location of the first crystal star, the Diamond Star." Fi said.
"Wait a minute.." Mario peered closer and grinned. "Yeah, that's Corona Mountain!"
"WHAT?!" Luigi and Toad screamed.
"Hey, you right is Corona Mountain!" Peach smiled
"NO WHY?!" Toad cried
"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" Luigi wailed
Link looked at them confused. "What's wrong with that?" he asked, not understanding why they were panicking so much.
Toad and Luigi paused and slowly turned their heads in a creepy-like manner before exploding in his face.
"CORONA MOUNTAIN IS AN ACTIVE VOLCANO! IT ERUPTS ALMOST EVERY SINGLE DAY!" they screamed-behind them was the image of an erupting volcano. The brown-haired princess growled angrily at them before backhanding them both.
"Stop talking nonsense, it doesn't erupt that much!" she snapped
"Come on, it can't be worse than Death Mountain." Navi joked
"Corona Mountain alright let's go!" Mario cheered with a fist pump.
-The Next Day-
Our group of heroes will all be outside of Peach's castle putting their bags in the cars. The boys were going in Luigi's cars and the girls were going in Daisy's cars.
"So how long is Corona Mountain?" Navi asked, landing on the mushroom princess' shoulder.
"It's a five-hour drive from now. We'll make it by nightfall." Peach answered.
"Be careful Princess." Toadsworth said.
"Don't worry, we'll be fine." Peach smiled then turned to her friends.
"Okay, people, let's hit the road!" Daisy announced jumping in the driver's seat.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Mario said, jumping in the passenger seat of his brother's car.
They said their last goodbyes before driving off to Delfino Plaza. Toadsworth sighs softly watching the car drive off into the distance sending a quick prayer for their safety. "Don't worry Toadsworth." Toadette smiled.
"I know, but I've been hearing a disturbing rumor at Delfino Plaza that worries me," he said to the young girl.
…..
"This will be a dangerous journey and you will be tested beyond the limit. Once you start you cannot stop this is the will of Her Grace, the Goddess Hylia." Fi said
"We're ready!" the heroes said in unison.
"Then let the Legend begin."
