Here is the next chapter for you guys. Fair warning, I am not good at writing romance and fluff scenes. So, I have given it a miss. Apologies, if you were expecting it. I tried and didn't like it myself. Hence, I scrapped it off.

A mighty shout out to all the people who have followed and favorited my story. You guys make it worth the time to keep writing.

A special shout out to Anarion87 who has encouraged me through his/her reviews on every chapter. He/She just leaves a review of 'Nice Chapter'. But thats all i need to feel encouraged. Thank you so much!

Again, J K Rowling is the GOAT. I have just found a small corner in her sandbox to build a small castle and am just grateful that she hasnt kicked me out.

Chapter 10

They had returned to the motel in London and had engaged in some passionate sex throughout. Both had been surprised to find a small advert in the Daily Prophet announcing their wedding the day after

James had tried reaching his parents, but didn't get any answer. He wanted to surprise them with the good news. He tried calling his brother, but couldn't reach him either. He vaguely knew the new place he had moved into the last year. They both planned to visit him in the evening and give him the news.

They had done some sightseeing in Muggle London, had an amazing lunch and done some shopping as well. At sunset, they had hailed a cab and travelled to Daniel's place. They had arrived at the brownstone where he stayed and knocked on the front door. There had been no response. They decided he probably was out and decide to wait for some more time. It was late in the evening, when they decided to return to the motel. Lily had enquired with the neighbors and found that Daniel had left hurriedly early that morning. James had left a letter with the neighbor to deliver to Daniel which had details about his marriage and travel plans, and a promise to contact him once he had settled down in the new place.

Lily had suggested apparating to Manchester. James declined citing that his tail might be expecting him to return and that it wasn't safe to travel there at the moment.

The next day the couple had ventured into Diagon Alley (in heavy disguise, of course) to visit Gringotts. She had wanted to make sure her trust fund was accessible to her and if possible, move the funds to the States for easy access.

The Daily Prophet had a small article about Lily being thrown out of the Black family which had upset Lily immensely. She could no longer reach out to any of her family members. James felt bad seeing her in that state. He felt bad that he could no longer reach out to Sirius.

They had both spent the remaining day with downed spirits. Maybe moving from Britain was the best fot them.

The next morning, both left Britain with a heavy heart.

The couple had arrived in New York with dampened spirits. Their wedding had been the only shining moment in the past few days. They hoped that the future would fare better.

As per the instructions provided to them before hand, they had visited the offices of MACUSA and registered as immigrants to the country. They had received information on potential places to live and a magical brochure on the Do's and Don'ts in the country. Their next stop had been Boston.

They had travelled to Boston by train. Boston was home to many prestigious muggle colleges. It was the same for their magical counterpart. It was host to two of the most prestigious schools in the States- The Salem Institute of Magic and Ilvermony Institute of Magic and Sorcery. The constant competition to one up each other had led to the constant development of both the institutes. This had gradually pushed the level of education in the Magical States to another level altogether. It wouldn't be wrong to say they were some of the best institutions in the world, if not the best. With a healthy respect for local customs and traditions, they boasted a plethora of subjects which branched into all known streams of magic. Graduates had improved the life style of the magical population significantly. They consisted some of the most famous contemporary names in the fields of Healing, Potions, Dueling, Alchemy, Enchanting, Xylomancy, History and Magical Sports. The only difference being Salem only catered to witches whereas Ilvermony had students from both genders.

Lily was scheduled to apprentice under Master Healer Mason Montgomery for two years. He had been known for writing various pieces for the Healer's Guild, apart from being credited with finding the cure for Scrofungulus.

James would be apprenticing under Master Jason Chadwick and learn some finer aspects of Advanced Transfiguration for the next year. He hoped to learn Enchanting in Lily's second year. He hoped to start his own company with enchanted products.

Both would be staying at a cottage in suburban Boston during the entire time.

Dumbledore had started tracking women who were expected to give birth towards the end of July. It helped that he had some good contacts at St Mungo's who helped him identify potential candidates. He had reached out to his Order members to tail some of the potential candidates. He didn't want to lose any opportunity in finding the future Saviour of Britain.

Lily and James had settled into a routine in their new roles. They would apparate to the institute daily, work on their respective projects and return back. Life at home had begun with a rocky start. James had given her Arcturus' letter during their initial days. She had opened it with trembling hands

Lily,

I apologize for causing you pain over the past few days. But it was necessary. I hope you understand the depth once I explain it to you.

You and Sirius are my only hopes for the future of the Black family. Bella and Cissi are lost to me. I don't want my family to be led by the future spawn of either of them. Sirius is my heir, and will be under constant danger with the escalating conflict. Regulus is already following in his mother's footsteps and is sympathetic towards the pure blood movement. I am trying my best to show him the light.

Sending you away from here was the only way, I could ensure you would remain safe. The death eaters don't have supporters across the ocean (yes, I know you are at Ilvermony and No, I didn't have anything in getting either of you enrolled there, you did it on your own.) and it's a culture of Inclusivity. You will thrive there. You were already the target of many failed abduction attempts (the train plan was the only one you are aware of.) They intend to hold me at ransom by doing this. And I can't allow it.

Your disinheritance is a deception. In reality you are not disinherited. I had to do it to make sure Voldemort doesn't attack the family. He believes that the Black family backs him. I am currently creating safeguards to ensure the family fortune or magic doesn't fall into his hands.

It was also me who placed the announcement in the Daily Prophet. It was all part of a plan, and James wasn't aware of it. Don't blame him for it. I had been planning this ever since I got to know of your affiliation with him.

Lastly, I want your child to be the future heir of the family. I am positive you will teach him all the necessary skills for it. Make sure he knows of our heritage and what he stands for.

Hopefully, this explains my motives and intentions. I only want what is the best for our family.

I will ask Sirius to visit you guys once the coast is clear.

With Love,

Grandfather.

Lily had been livid at the deception. She hadn't spoken to James for three days. She understood her grandfather's point of view. She just didn't like that she was kept in the dark about it.

James had reached out to his brother during the same time. Daniel had asked for a quick meet. James informed about him being in Boston. Daniel had come down to New York for a weekend and relayed the news. James had broken down. His parents had been killed the same day he had married. Daniel had given a detailed description about the death and how the police were baffled about it. James and Lily had connected the dots and had given their inference that Death Eaters were involved. There was no other explanation. They had gone on to explain about the ongoing war and how muggles and muggle-borns were the targets. Daniel had just been glad that both the brothers hadn't been there at the time or it would have wiped out the entire Potter family. James' absence had been attributed as hospitalization due to an accident which had left him bedridden. Daniel had brought his brother some memoirs of his parents which he had graciously accepted. Daniel had agreed to stay in touch and to stay safe.

Charles Potter had also left some decent money for both his sons. The house had been left to Daniel, but both of them had added a healthy five-digit sum to their bank account due to some smart investing and insurance policies.

It had been a subdued James who had returned to Boston. Those had been some difficult days for the couple. James carried the guilt of not being there for his parents for quite some time. It had taken an angry Lily explaining that he didn't bear any responsibility for the act. She had gone into one of her famous rants-

"James, you need to stop the brooding now. I haven't spoken anything till now, as I can guess what you are going through. But you can't carry on like this. You need to get your head back. Also, you are not responsible for what happened. You were lucky enough to escape alive. If you would have been there, you wouldn't have survived. We need to stay strong and move forward. There will come a time when we will show these death eaters what we are. But there is no use crying over spilt milk."

What followed had been a long conversation on the situation back home. They had cried in each other's arms the entire night. They would do as Arcturus had suggested and make sure that the Black and Potter family would one day rise again.

One Year later

Time had flown by. James and Lily had been blessed by a baby girl in early September. They hadn't planned for the baby, but had been extremely happy that she had graced their lives. Sirius had come to visit his newborn cousin on the pretext of some business in the States. He had returned happily with some pictures of the family. What had surprised all of them was that the girl was a Metamorphmagus. She had started changing the color of her hair an hour into her birth. The last metamorphmagus Black had been Callidora Black, a witch from the 19th century. They had decided to name her "Nymphadora", a Greek name which literally meant "Gift of the Nymphs" She had been a healthy child, and they had no doubt she would be a strong witch one day.

Sirius had been ecstatic and had rushed back to Britain to deliver the news to Arcturus. Before leaving, he had brought the couple up-to date on all the events back in Britain.

Sirius had been betrothed to Marlene McKinnon, a pureblood whose family had stayed neutral in the past. The entire family had been massacred by Voldemort soon after. Supposedly, it was because they had not supported him financially. It had been a major heartbreak and he had sworn revenge. Remus had gone off the radar completely. According to Sirius, he had moved into a werewolf camp on a clandestine mission from Dumbledore. Pettigrew was working at the ministry and was doing good.

On the war-front, there had been losses on the resistance's end. The heirs of the Prewett family had been killed. Alastor Moody had lost his leg in a raid. Dumbledore was supposedly on a secret mission, which nobody had much information on. Lucius Malfoy was sponsoring a minister aspirant hoping to get an establishment more sympathetic to their cause.

Daniel had also dropped by to visit his niece. He also had given informed that he had finally decided to settle down. He had met an amazing woman called Mary Stevenson who was a fellow professor at his university. They hadn't decided the date yet. James had been asked to be the best man and Lily would be the one of the bridesmaids. Daniel had promised he would inform them in advance, so that they could make arrangements accordingly.

On the Homefront, Lily had entered into her second year, but was currently on maternity leave for the next two months. James had started his 'Enchanting' program. They had kept a low profile and avoided talking about their past in public as much as possible. Life had been good for the Potters.

Two Years Later

The Potter couple had been married for four years when their son, Harry had been born. Nymphadora 'Dora' had been just over a year old when they had decided to add another member to their family. He had been born on 31st July. Dora had been jumping around the place when she had met her newborn brother. Almost two years now, she was capable of articulating words and was able to walk around on her own. She had been excited that she would have a baby sister or baby brother. On seeing her brother, she had become a different person. She would spend almost the entire time alongside him. She wouldn't let anybody disturb his sleep and was one of the few who could console him when he began crying.

James and Lily felt their family had become complete with the newest addition. Lily couldn't stop doting on both of her kids. James had already decided to teach both of them Quidditch once they were old enough to mount brooms.

Before Harry's birth, Lily had started working at the Bartholomew Centre of Healing as a Junior Healer. She had quickly built a reputation for herself as one of the budding talents in the field of Healing.

James had completed his 'Enchanting' course and had created a new prototype communication device. It involved a pair of mirrors which could be used to talk to a person. It had started as a way to talk to Sirius, and soon he had patented it and started selling it to all the magical folk. Needless to say, it had a grand success with people thronging to buy them. This had led to the creation of Marauders, with Sirius as a silent partner, which specialized in a wide range of products involving communication. He had been working on increasing the size of the mirrors so that they could be used for wide screen viewing, similar to the contemporary muggle invention called Television.

All in all, they were happy and content. They had pursued their dreams, found ways to make it happen, and most important of all, had been there for each other through thick and thin. They had each other's back no matter what and had gained the respect of the society they lived in.

The situation in Britain had not improved. It had been four years since the prophecy had been given. But there had been no sign of a potential Saviour until now. This year though, the Longbottoms had had a son born to them on the 30th of July. Dumbledore had been ecstatic that a potential candidate for the prophecy had arisen from a family who supported his cause and was one of his staunch supporters in the Wizengamot. The attacks had not stopped though. They had lost too many good people on their end. The loss of the Bones family, minus Amelia and her baby niece Susan had shocked the magical world. Other families like the Dearborns had been completely eradicated. However, there was now hope. Dumbledore had made sure to keep the Longbottoms safe under a Fidelius charm with Augusta Longbottom as the secret keeper. Dumbledore didn't consider it important to inform them about the prophecy and had just cited security purposes for the same.

Augustus Rookwood had been employed in the Department of Mysteries. His father and grandfather had also been part of the same department in the past. What separated him from them was a tattoo on his forearm, an indicator that his loyalty was to Lord Voldemort. It was by surprise that he had found something in the Prophecy Hall. He had been asked by his superior to check if a particular prophecy had been active or not. And by happenstance, his eyes had found another glowing orb with the title

S.P.T to A.P.W.B.D

Dark Lord and Saviour (?)

He had relayed the news to his master. Tom Riddle had never believed in Divination. But out of curiosity, he had wanted to listen to what the prophecy would say. Rookwood had confirmed that only the people named on the prophecy could touch it. The Dark Lord had then planned an operation to infiltrate the ministry and get the orb.

That had been one of the most ruthless attacks in the history of Magical Britain. A total of Two Hundred wizards and witches had fallen that day. But they had been successful. If they hadn't bothered with the orb, they probably would have taken over the ministry itself. The ever-changing doors in the Department of Mysteries had led to some losses on his end as well. It had taken the entire force of the opposition to push back the Dark Lord's army. His only regret was losing Rookwood. He had been sent to Azkaban soon after. Nevertheless, the common public were now even more scared of Lord Voldemort.

The prophecy itself had been meaningless. The Dark Lord had been disappointed. It spoke of a yet to be born baby who would supposedly be the end of a Dark Lord. It didn't even name him specifically. For all he knew, it could have been Grindelwald. And who better than him to usher magical Britain into a new age. He had discarded the orb as crap and continued his other plans. It had been a nice distraction though.

Sirius had mirror called and relayed a message from Arcturus. The Black family patriarch had been ill for a while now. His sons had both died in the past few years. What had been a shocker was the disappearance of Regulus. Sirius had informed them that he had joined the Death Eaters even before he left Hogwarts and had gone missing a few months later. All this had pushed Arcturus to his death bed. He had asked Lily and James to come visit him with their children before he died. They had accepted.

This would be their second visit to the island after they had left Hogwarts. The first time had been James' brother's wedding in London. It had been one of the most memorable moments in their lives. They had had immense fun and everybody had adored Dora (who was under a charm to stop her from changing colors). They had visited the graves of Charles and Dorea Potter in Manchester and paid their respects. They had also made time to meet Peter and Remus. Peter looked happy and content. Remus however looked haggard and aged. His clothes were not in the best shape and he looked more withdrawn. James had propositioned him to move to the states. But he had declined citing the war to be more important.

Harry had been about three months when the Potters decided to visit Arcturus. They would be visiting him on Halloween and return to the States a week later. Little did they know, Fate had something different planned for them. Their small world was going to change forever.

-End of Chapter-

There you have it. Another chapter done. This one was tough to write. I still feel that i could have added some more detail. Maybe i will add snippets of the same in the future chapters. Hope you like it. The excitement is all in the next chapter though. It will be out within the coming week. Thank you for all the support. Happy Reading!
