Disclaimer:

For Campione! This is an AU fic. You can blame 4chan's jumpchain board for that. I rolled randomly for what jumps to take in my chain and got Campione! and began to watch the anime…. Then I brought it up to the board I was watching the anime and they told me not to because it wasn't all that accurate to the source. So I started the manga, brought that up and was told, they barely had any of the story. So I went to the light novel. I read the first chapter, it was just ok. I went to read the second chapter and found it was oddly familiar. For some reason on the site they had duplicated the 1st chapter as the second… At that point I said screw it, I'll make my own Campione! with blackjack and hookers. So… I am trying to make a story and not worry so much about canon. Hopefully I succeeded.

Prologue:

They say that before you die you see your life flash before your eyes. I could only assume that's what had happened. I watched numbly as events of my life played out before me. It was strange that I couldn't remember how I got here. I watch as an outside observer. I was able to see my triumphs, my failures, things that made me proud, things that made me feel guilty or embarrassed. All of these events played out before me.

It's sad to say looking at it my heart ached. The triumphs were all too few and too brief. While my failures weren't exceptional, what were most disturbing, what hurt the most were the times I didn't even try. Opportunities lost, gone forever now. So much time wasted being afraid.

"Now, now no need to be so hard on yourself" Said a gentle cheery voice beside me. "Everyone when they come here has regrets." She told me.

I looked at the being speaking to me and it seemed to be a beautiful curvy feminine shape made entirely out of soft white light.

"Are- Are you an angel?" I asked as that seemed to be the only thing that made sense.

She laughed softly and waved a dismissive hand. "No I am not an angel, and you're not dead by the way." She informed me. She seemed to be smiling. That was a relief.

"Then where am I? what is all of this? Who or what are you?" I asked her.

"Ah easy with the questions; I'll try and tackle those one at a time. I brought you here so you could see yourself and make a point. I am here to offer you something very special however I thought it might take some convincing to get you to agree. As for who I am… well let's just say I am an outside observer who likes to help those who look like they are in need of it from time to time. I am neither god nor the devil. I could give you my name but it wouldn't hold any special meaning to you. So why don't you call me Jump-chan like in that online thing you like to write stories about."

"Wait but that's not real. It's just something from the internet."

"There is much more than I can explain in the short time that we have together. Just know that this Jump-chain as you call it is very real. I will even use the rules that you humans have created for it."

"Wait, you're giving me a chain?" I asked but then felt kind of silly for asking.

"Yes." She said simply.

"And you thought I would need convincing?"

She gave a small smile "Many people have great desires. However should those desires ever be realized it would become a nightmare for them. I am giving you a chain but I ask something of you. I ask for an honest effort, not running home when things get hard or don't go your way."

I felt my face warm at that as I looked down at my feet. Hadn't I seen so many instances where I gave up or just didn't try at all. "Alright I believe you made your point."

"Good, I warn you the road ahead may not be an easy one but I believe in you. I chose you for a reason."

"Now then I believe according to your rules we have some choices to make…"

Chapter 1

It was my first jump. It was my first step in to a new world. I was both excited and a little afraid. I didn't know what to expect. This was a world that was unfamiliar to me. It would mean a new body and a new life.

I didn't know what to expect but waking up amongst the smoking ruins of several city blocks was certainly unexpected.

At first I was barely conscious, things were blurry. I didn't know who or where I was. The acrid smell of smoke hung heavy in the air. I was amongst the twisted and mangled remains of cars, the buildings around me barely stood. As my eyes began to focus the scene became clearer and clearer. It seemed like I must have been at the center of some huge explosion

My awareness was dulled though with massive pain and exhaustion. My entire body throbbed with pain. It was hard to focus on anything else. It was like my body was burning from the inside out. I was so tired I couldn't move much more than my head.

Thankfully soon the sweet bliss of unconsciousness came for me. I gladly sank into the darkness not knowing what my final fate was to be.

The next time I awakened it was to a white tile ceiling that slowly came into view. As I woke up I could hear the beeps and hums of medical equipment as well as the steady murmurs of voices not far off and the drums of their footsteps. I could smell the sterile smell of cleaning solution mixed with the foul smell of medicine.

It didn't take long for me to realize I was in a hospital. Not that many people love hospitals but I kind of hate them. My now hazy memories of my past life told me I had a few bad experiences with them that left me nervous around them.

I looked down to see a pale blue sheet covering my body. The bed looked huge to me. Though I had had this body for all of this life it seemed unfamiliar under the sheet to me. Unfamiliar but at the same time it felt right too.

I felt groggy and slightly achy but no real pain. My head felt a bit fuzzy but noticing the tap in my arm connected to the clear bag of liquid hanging from the stand beside my bed I couldn't help but assume that it was something from that.

I was surprised though even through the mental fog that I didn't feel any real pain, not at the level of pain that I had felt when I woke up the first time. I took a look at my body and though there were some bandages around my ribs and some around my arms and legs I looked mostly intact and unharmed which seemed strange from how I felt previously and all the destruction that had been around me.

It was about at that point I heard the coming from the constant drum of footsteps and murmurs of voices someone approaching. My senses in this life were outstanding; superhuman really.

I looked up and sure enough a nurse with short dark hair and brown eyes emerged from the doorway.

She gasped in surprise and stated I was awake and immediately called for a doctor.

Within moments a tall gentleman with greying hair and dark eyes in doctor's clothes emerged behind her and quickly set about examining me.

He asked me to set up if I could. It took some effort but I did. As I sat up there was a new large bounce in my chest. My attention was drawn to my rather large breasts. Even through the haze I couldn't help but think that the endowed perk was a hell of a drug. It looked like puberty had hit me like a Mack Truck. I knew from the memory of this new life that despite my small frame, what I had would make most full grown women envious despite me being in my mid-teens.

He flashed a light in my eyes and asked me to follow them. I did. He asked me my name and birthdate and without hesitation I gave him my new name. Raven, It was strange as it was so natural to me. In a way it had been my name all my life, in another it was brand new.

He did a few tests checking things like reflexes and listened to my lungs. He then informed me that I had been unconscious for 2 days. It wasn't a Coma just a deep level of exhaustion.

What he said somehow made sense from how I felt. I still felt tired but strangely I felt different… stronger. I felt a strange energy within me. I didn't know quite what to make of it except it must have been something in one of those purchases.

I got a clean bill of health from the doctor. Though he decided he wanted to keep me an extra day for observation.

He moved the bag that was hooked to the tap to a mobile stand so I could move around.

I was to be left to my own devices for the rest of the day. Nurses would come in and check on me periodically to make sure I was still ok but with his examination done the doctor and the nurse left.

This gave me a chance to finally sneak off to the bathroom to examine myself. In truth I actually had to pee anyways. After doing the deed I got a chance to stare at myself in the mirror. It was strange I knew what I looked like. I was quite familiar with myself but still I needed to see myself now with my own eyes.

The bathroom mirror was a bit small but I made do with it.

It's strange to say, my hair was a mess, I had a black eye and a few cuts on my face… but I was an absolute knockout. Actually that was underselling it. I was nothing short of a goddess. Even the cuts and black eye couldn't mar my beauty.

I was short, I knew that I barely stood 5 feet tall. I had long at the moment messy red hair that reached down to the small of my back. I had deep green eyes the color of emeralds that often got me complemented.

My body was small and slim but toned except in a few places. My memories of this new life informed me that I was actually exceptionally good in sports. In particular I was the top in my school in track and field.

Looking at myself objectively I was one of those girls who were truly stunning but never thought they were anything special. I usually wore baggy clothes to cover up my figure and focused more on comfort than on looks.

I was still tired after doing my business and getting a good look at myself. I decided to retreat to my bed.

It was not long until they brought in the joy of every hospital stay… hospital food. Genuine imitation food designed for nutrition and nothing else.

As I was picking at my food my parents came to visit. It was strange to have two parents again. These parents were similar to the parents in my old life. There were differences, My mother looked more like an older version of myself, My previous mother hadn't been unattractive but not nowhere near the goddess standing before me. Her hair color matched mine. My father was basically the same appearance: large, barrel chested dark haired and dark eyed.

There were other differences too among them having lived in japan made different choices maybe slightly different personalities. They also seemed to have been luckier in general in life and had less mental health problems.

They were still together and got along well… usually. It was a strange feeling, both happy and sad to have both of them there. It was better than my old life and that gave me mixed feelings.

They were quite worried of course but the doctors hadn't let them near me while I was unconscious. I needed my rest, they said.

I assured them I was alright, even though the doctor already had assured them. They told me how worried they had been and how grateful they were that I was ok.

As always it's nice to know the people you love care about you. I felt a bit bad about worrying them. As nice as it was to have them and despite the fact it was good to have some normalcy in a place like this, one of the nurses came to shoo them out under the excuse that they wanted to keep the visits short to ensure I got my rest.

It was a while later when I got another visitor. There is an old saying about visitors bearing gifts, maybe I should have been wary of the man in the glasses with a ponytail dressed in a business suit as he brought me a couple hotdogs and some fries and a coke from a fast food place that he managed to sneak in.

He had black hair and black eyes. I would say he was in his forties, he had a serious face. He seemed to be a professional of some sort.

He introduced himself as Amakusa Touma, a member of the Historical Compilation Committee

"Ah, here I know how bad hospital food can be. Why don't you try this." He suggested. It's almost as if he knew my weakness for junk food particularly fries.

To me however at that moment he was like my savior and I happily took what he was offering.

"Ah thank you."

"Don't mention it. Say I was hoping we could talk a bit. Please feel free to eat while we talk." He said.

I am guessing he was trying to put me at ease. I was hungry after not really eating the Hospital food so I obliged him.

"I heard that you were found in the middle of the destruction downtown. Do you remember any of it."

I blinked and thought for a moment trying to remember something. I swallowed a piece of hotdog with fries on it, got a drink and then wiped my mouth before answering.

"No. All I remember is waking up."

"Ah that's quite alright. Do you remember anything particularly strange about that."

"Ummm I hurt real bad and was very tired. Like more tired than I have ever been."

"Ah I am not sure what happened but that's understandable."

"Tell me have you noticed anything different about yourself?"

I was taken a bit back by that. I opened my mouth and then closed it to think again. Finally I sighed making my decision. "You're going to think I am nuts." I began.

"Oh no please I will do my best to be understanding."

"Well… I feel different, stronger than before and like I am filled with some sort of energy that I can't describe. I feel a strange energy inside of me but I can't really describe it."

With that he simply smiled and nodded

"Ah then it is as I suspected."

"Huh?"

"I have a lot to tell you. Please understand some of this may be a bit hard to swallow but every bit is true." He began.

"This world is a bit different than we think it is. There are things that exist that most people don't believe at least not anymore?"

I blinked unsure how to respond to this. On the one hand this sounded like it was going to be some crazy talk but on the other I was a dimension traveler on my second life after having met a strange entity… I decided to let him talk.

He seemed relieved when I said nothing and listened.

"The gods of old actually exist. Most believe them to be myths or legends and in fact they seem to be shaped by these myths."

"Ok…"

"I told you it would be hard to believe but please hear me out. Now usually people can't perceive them; only those with magic are able to."

"So… magic is real too." I said trying not to let skepticism creep into my voice. A part of me knew this to be true… but part of me was still a mostly normal young girl who had no experience with this, at the moment I was kind of at odds with myself.

"I shall show you in a moment but let me just continue for a minute. These Heretical gods as we call them have somehow escaped from their myths and usually when they do they cause a lot of trouble. Their powers are very destructive…"

"Like the crater that I woke up in?"

"Exactly."

"So this was a… heretic god that did this?"

"We believe so. Anyways we believe that somehow in this heretic god attack, you managed to overcome it and kill it?"

"Huh?" was the best I can manage.

"Well first of all you are still alive despite the damage that was done to the area. That is unlikely but you also describe yourself as being stronger and more powerful than you were previously. You not only slew it but gained its power"

"Wut?" I said. Somehow though it tugged at one of those muddled memories of stuff I chose with my benefactor. It seems whatever else I was, I was a main character in this world.

He sighed. "I know this is a lot to take in. However you are what's called a Campione; A god slayer. One who can kill gods and take their powers."

"Umm so I killed a god?"

"Apparently so."

"How?"

"I am afraid I don't know. I would imagine through sheer survival instinct mixed with a lot of luck."

"But…"

"You are the eighth Campione. Usually there is only one king per continent but it appears that you're the second to emerge in Japan."

"King?"

"Ah because of their great power Campione are seen as kings in the magic world. Both Feared and admired for their great power."

"Ok. So what can I do?"

"You should have some idea."

I reached out with my power and tried to summon it… and a metallic sphere appeared floating above my hand. It seemed to bob up and down. It felt… no it was alive.

I gasped.

Amakusa's grin grew

As I summoned it I also got information on it. This was Hunter of Immortals. It was the Authority that could form weapons suited to fighting an opponent. It had the power to slowly steal their strength and abilities as the fight carried on.

More information filled my head now two other authorities. Will of Magic allowed me to analyze and reproduce magic that I saw and World's maker gave me the skills and tools to create virtually anything.

"Whoa…" I managed.

"I see that you have finally awakened your abilities. My Organization is devoted to controlling all magic within Japan and helping to keep it secret from the rest of the world. We will pay your hospital bills. Beyond that we would like you to work with us. We can help you get training with your new powers and you can help us to stop any heretical gods that happen to pop up."

I blinked "Umm you're offering me a job?"

"Yes I think talent such as yours could be quite useful and you wouldn't be the only Campione to work with us."

"Ah so the other Japanese Campione is already working with you."

"Yes, he isn't an agent of ours but we work with him on occasion."

"Can I think about it?"

"Sure, let me just give you a little gift, something to help you decide."

He reached in to his wallet and pulled out a check…

It was a check with a lot of Zeros. As in, buy a nice house kind of lots of Zeros.

"Ahhhh." Always the articulate one I managed to say.

"Anyways I have kept you long enough. Enjoy the hot dogs."

With that he left me… with my meal and huge check.

I blinked and pinched myself to make sure I wasn't still asleep.

The next day I was let out of the hospital. I was very happy to leave that place as stated previously I had no love for hospitals.

Unfortunately that marked the point where I had to discuss Amakusa's Job offer with my parents.

I would love to say it was an easy discussion. It's kind of a lot to absorb. Magic is real. Gods apparently appear in the world and wreak havoc. Also their daughter was now apparently some magical god killer and was being offered a ton of money to kill said gods.

Just the fact that I had apparently almost died made things a hard no. Eventually though I managed to talk them in to letting me test the waters out if only so I could get some training to better protect myself.

So I tentatively agreed under a number of conditions.

Well it didn't take long for the HCC to come calling. Apparently through some magical vision of one of their magic people they had ascertained that there was going to be another incident with a heretical god.

They swore up and down that this wouldn't be dangerous and that I would be able to handle it. They also admitted that a Campione was the only one who could handle a heretic god and their other Campione was busy.

I wasn't sure how much I trusted them but they assured me it would be alright.

I had gotten a little training in with my abilities and even had a few offensive and defensive spells I had picked up so I wasn't entirely defenseless.

I wanted a lot more information but time was apparently of the essence.

They sent me out to a large shrine. At first I thought there must have been some festival going on with all the people out there. There was dancing and singing, and the mood was rather festive.

With me were a couple agents, one an average looking man in a business suit. He had dark hair and dark eyes. He didn't stick out much and though I am a bit ashamed to admit it I forgot his name almost as soon as he told me.

The other agent they sent me out with was Megumi Nobuko. She was a rather pretty woman in her late twenties, long black hair and deep brown eyes. She had a small and slender build being only slightly taller than me. She dressed in a casual white dress but I was told she was a miko and had magical powers.

They explained the situation to me as we were on our way there. Apparently There had been reports of people having outrageous luck and having their wishes fulfilled in the area connected with the shrine. They believed that the luck was due to the actions of her heretical deity.

The reason the HCC was concerned was the powers of Heretical Gods being used caused catastrophes and they believed that if this continued this would cause a huge backlash and great misfortune to strike the area.

Megumi also explained that because I was a campione I had absurd magical resistance. They had information on the deity that I needed but it would take too long to teach me manually. So they had to insert the information directly into me… with a kiss apparently. I was about to ask if there was another way but realized this was probably the best way with someone I didn't know.

So after a rather embarrassingly deep kiss my head filled with a ton of information on the deity Inari, how she or he represented several deities, how they were known as different deities in other cultures. It was strange to suddenly have a ton of information shoved in to your skull. Well technically I guess this was the second time but that didn't make it any easier or less weird.

I was escorted into the shrine with the two agents I was working with. We looked around for an area where people were not being allowed in, and then the average man began to have a seizure like fit. Unsurprisingly this drew everyone's attention. As people were checking him out to make sure he was ok, Megumi slipped me into the closed off area.

In this lavishly decorated room there were a couple priestesses kneeling before a lavish pile of cushions that were being lounged upon by the most beautiful looking woman I had ever seen. She had perfect pale skin, bright green eyes and a playful smile. Her long hair was the color of a red fox's pelt, her body was buxom and well-proportioned with curves too perfect for any mortal, looking like something that had to be airbrushed since such perfection was impossible in reality… yet here she was.

As if to add insult to injury she had fox ears and a tail. Fox girls were super effective.

The woman who I sensed great power from immediately looked up tail swishing with a smirk as the Priestesses turned taking some sort of defensive posture but the foxgirl just waved them off.

"OH my, well you don't seem to be a servant of mine, whatever brings you here?" She asked curiously.

"I am a Campione." I said honestly. "I have come because people are afraid the way you are using your powers is going to lead to some great tragedy if you continue."

My companion face palmed but Inari just laughed and called me "such an honest little girl."

"Are you going to fight me, my brave honest Campione?"

Honestly something in me actually wanted a fight… something in my blood wanted to test out my new strength and my new power. However I remembered from my past life Inari was a cool god or goddess and I didn't really want to kill her.

"I'd rather not honestly, so far you're just helping people. It's not like you're doing something bad. Could you just not use your powers or keep it down so there isn't some catastrophic blowback?"

She smiled and laughed "Oh I like you. You needn't worry unfortunately I left much of my powers behind coming here and the ones that I have left aren't that dangerous to use. I was just waiting to try and reclaim some of my lost power. However young Campione you have sparked my interest. I can see from your earnest demeanor you are inexperienced. I think I shall take you under my wing as your mentor." She mused. Somehow her demeanor made it clear it wasn't a suggestion.

It was about this time I remembered I not only had a perk for attracting girls but a Drawback for it to boot. It's a strange feeling to realize you have just been waifued.

I looked at Megumi who looked at me with a strange mixture of surprise, and amusement. I heard her muttering "So she has that campione power too." Apparently it was alright.
