"Senju," I heard a rough voice say from the darkness of the room.
"Who's there!"
An old man with bandages wrapped around his forehead and left eye stepped into the center of the room, where the light from the window fell. His left hand may have been held in a sling but I was too distracted by the plain white porcelain masks that practically glowed in the darkness, one on either side of him.
"Senju," the old man repeated, as his eyes met mine.
"Why are you calling me that?" I asked.
"I see. No one has told you who your father was"
I growled.
"Senju Haneru"
"Don't EVER associate me with him then!"
"Very well, Kousei," the old man said.
"Why the hell am I here?"
"I have brought you here for one purpose. You are to join Root, a subdivision of the Anbu," the man said.
"Is that an order? Because you sure don't look like the Sandaime Hokage or Kakashi- sensei."
"You don't have a choice. If you refuse, my subordinates will kill you and destroy all evidence pointing to your death".
I tried my hardest to not widen my eyes. Was this guy serious? Was killing people a joke to him?
"Why me?"
"I'll be honest with you. As of right now, I consider you a threat to the village, what with your interesting past, your talent, and your flickering technique. And any threats to the village are to be neutralized as seen fit. However, I would rather have someone like you work for the village than simply disappear, " the old man said.
"Is there anything I get from accepting?" I asked. A faint chuckle from the man sent the slightest of chills down my spine.
"Firstly, you'll receive a rather large sum of money every month, along with special training. And as for what I want you to do….what with your uncanny strength and body flickering I want you to become an assassin".
He wanted me to become an assassin? As in kill people for a living. I couldn't-no I wouldn't accept this deal. I would break these stupid ropes, and get the hell out of wherever this place was. But it was then I realized he could have me at blade point in a fraction of a second if I disagreed with him, much less try to get away.
These Anbu were clearly here to overpower me and make me do this whether I wanted to or not. I decided there was no choice in this matter. Either I kill people or I get killed and no one would know. Not Sasuko, Naruto or Kakashi-sensei..And my mother's sacrifice… would have been completely worthless. So I did the only thing I could do. Didn't ninja kill people for a living anyway?
"I accept," I said with a long sigh.
A ghost of a smile flickered on the man's face. "A wise choice."
He signaled something with his right hand and turned to leave. If I was going to work for him, the least I deserved to know was his name.
"One last question. What's your name?"
"Shimura Danzo. I look forward to working with you, Kousei," the man said without turning to face me. The Anbu were slowly coming closer to me. I realized then that if he thought I wasn't useful, he'd off me in a flash. So I decided to put on a bit of a show to prove my worth.
I dislocated my thumbs and got my wrists free. I stood and broke the chair with ease. I took two steps forward. There was another faint chuckle from Danzo as he turned to face me.
