AN: So yeah, trying to decide what type of Ship Percy and the gang should get while on Tatooine but I'm running into an issue on actually FINDING a list of Star Wars ships by their model and details. I can find a few generic bits for some, but the internet is being uncooperative overall. So, if you know of any lists that would be useful, please let me know! If you have a specific model, you'd recommend I look up I'd love to hear that too! If I don't get any, or anything I think fits, I'll just make something up. I'd prefer he start with a canon ship and build upon it though.
The Force of Fire
Chapter 7
-Percy-
"Mom, I'm home!" Anakin called out as they entered a sandstone building, the storm having recently started, only a small force shield from himself and Qui-Gon keeping them, and Percy's new purchase, safe.
"Ani!" a woman exited what he assumed was a kitchen, looking surprised at seeing more than just her son, "I see you brought friends." She was a woman who would have clearly been an exquisite beauty in her youth and, even with the years of hard aging from the desert world, carried a dignified grace rarely seen.
"Your son learned out ship was on the outskirts and offered us shelter from the storm." Percy approached her, "I apologize if that's an issue."
"No." the woman's eyes turned warm and proud as she gazed at her son, "Welcome to our home."
"Would you like some help with dinner?" Padme offered, likely wanting to avoid being a burden on their host, especially one who was technically living in slavery with little to their name.
"That would be lovely, thank you." The woman gave a grateful smile as the two entered the kitchen.
"Mom, I'm going to show Mari the droid I'm making!" Anakin called to his mother, using a nickname for Marris as he pulled the giggling girl into his room by her hand, the two thick as thieves already.
"Well, I'm going to go call Captain Panaka." Qui-Gon's eyes had a mischievous gleam, "Do keep Jar-Jar out of trouble while I do so." The old Jedi slipped away to make his call before Percy could stop him. The man probably feeling the finger Percy flipped at his back if his chuckle was any indication.
-Obi-Wan-
"Obi-Wan." Looking up, Obi-Wan saw Captain Panaka knocking on the doorframe, rousing him from his meditations "Your Master is contacting us if you'd like to join me at the bridge." Nodding at the soldier, Obi-Wan followed, noting his Master looking somewhat smug as he arrived.
"Alright, so what's the status, did you find the parts?" Panaka asked as everyone else but the two of them and the Queen left the bridge, giving them privacy for the call.
"Yes and no." Qui-Gon's amused smugness vanished as he rubbed a tired hand down his face "There's exactly one merchant here with the parts and not only are they out of our price range, but his species are immune to the Jedi abilities that would have made him more agreeable." Meaning the mind trick, that was a problematic discovery.
"So, what now?" Panaka scowled "We need those parts to get off the planet."
"Luckily, we've thought of a potential solution to that." Qui-Gon nodded "That handmaiden you sent with us made the good point that the Federation might have put some type of tracker on the ship while they controlled the hangar." The disturbing thought that had occurred to none of them in their frantic thought was chilling as Obi-Wan shared a glance with the two natives of Naboo beside him "So, we plan to return to that merchant tomorrow to offer to sell this ship to him if it's agreeable with her majesty. With those funds we can get another fully functional ship that we know the Trade Federation won't have a tracker on and would actually have armaments if needed."
"I shall trust your judgement in this master Jedi." The Queen gave a slow stiff nod, although Obi-Wan wondered if the rigid tones and movements were to convey what she wanted clearly given how little body language was shown with the face paint and baggy robes the woman wore.
"The storm's pretty bad outside. You holed up safely?" Panaka frowned, the man's concern for the group that contained the Dark Force user obvious.
"A local is giving us shelter." Qui-Gon nodded "A young boy who, along with his mother, are slaves of the Merchant I'm having to deal with." It was the years of studying under Qui-Gon that let Obi-Wan recognize the signs of his Master's disgust at the notion of slavery "The boy's become fast friends with young Marris so I wouldn't be surprised if Percy tried finding a way to free them while he was here. He doesn't seem too fond of the notions of slavery on principle." That…was a surprisingly refreshing relief in all honesty.
"That answers most questions I have." Panaka frowned "But I need to ask, why did you look so smug when you came on?"
"When we got to town, we split up to look for the parts and Percy left me alone with Jar Jar." Qui-Gon's eyebrow twitched irritated before the smirk returned "I've merely returned the favor now while Padme is helping our host cook and young Anakin is showing Marris a droid he's building."
"Good grief, you're both grown men. Must you act like toddlers?!" Panaka sounded more exasperated than angry as he gave a look at the innocently whistling Qui-Gon before the call dropped. "Did…did he just hang up on me?"
"I believe so." The Queen nodded while Obi-Wan sighed at his master being so childish.
-Maul-
Frowning, Maul sat nestled within his small shuttle as the sandstorm raged furiously outside. The rapid and violent change of weather had forced him to land far away from where he'd intended to and all he could do was wait it all out. Even still, he could sense five distinct force signatures on the planet. One was all together average and in the middle of nowhere, perhaps the Jedi apprentice or some other force user. He's fairly sure his master had mentioned this planet had a family of crazy force using calamity preppers hiding out somewhere, thinking the apocalypse was imminent. The others were more interesting though as he could sense two powerful and at least partially trained Force Signatures, having to be the Jedi master and this 'Percy' person the Neimoidian's had told his master about, the footage getting Maul excited for the potential fight. The next two signatures felt incredibly young, still children. One had to be the adopted daughter of that 'Percy' person but the other.
Maul let out a dark scowl as the thought of the last Force signature he could actually sense. It felt incredibly powerful, far beyond anything that should have been possible for one as young as it was, and while that 'Percy' person's signature felt…unnatural in a way he couldn't describe, this child just felt like power incarnate. "My Master would cast me aside in an instant over that child." Maul snarled, well aware of the ways of the Sith, ways his Master was technically breaking with him. That one act of Darth Sidious' betrayal of his own Master was all the proof Maul needed to know the truth of that fact.
"I could kill the child." He mused to himself as he checked his saber staff, knowing a fight would be happening no matter what "Or I could steal him away as my own apprentice." A child that strong would be a powerful Sith. One that could potentially even help Maul overthrow his own Master. And if he was careful and did not draw the attention of Darth Plagueis, he could potentially set himself up as a new branch of the Sith. The Rule of two had its purpose but keeping the Sith limited to two also limited what could be discovered or done. And Maul hated to be limited.
"That Percy fellow is quite interesting as well." Maul smirked as he remembered the footage, he'd been sent from Naboo, of a distinctly red-looking lightsaber. Even if the video quality hadn't been the best the Jedi very rarely used colors anything close to that. A saber staff that could split into dual sabers. Oh, the fight would be glorious.
AN: Sorry it's so short but as I said, I can't find ANY resources for ships that would fit here, and I need that figured out before making real progress. Next chapters will be longer, I promise.
