PREVIOUSLY-
I walked into school with a smile on my face, ready for whatever the day was going to throw at me.
I sat through each of my classes impatiently until the final bell rang, then made my way back home to talk to Charlie.
He was more than happy that I'd be doing something I loved, and also getting paid for it. I told him it would probably be an everyday thing and that I was totally fine with driving back and forth to the reservation, and some weekends I would probably stay with Leah or Emily. To my surprise, he was cool with all of it, saying he was planning on picking up some extra shifts at the police station anyways because one of his officers quit and there had been another missing hiker.
I knew what the missing hiker meant.
I made my way as quickly as I could back to the reservation and pulled into the Clearwater's house where Seth was already waiting.
I jumped out of my truck and ran right for him. He wrapped his arms around me and then pulled away and put his hands on either side of my face.
"What's wrong, Bella?" He asked immediately, a worried look etched on his face.
"Victoria is back again! There's reports of another missing hiker. It has to be her… Charlie is the lead officer on the case. Seth, if something happened to him…" I cried, worried for my dad and the wolves.
"Bella, Bella, calm down. We were tracking her all day… I picked up her scent when I left you this morning. Embry stayed in the woods outside of your school while we chased her, but she got away again." Seth told me, wiping my tears away with his thumbs. He then pulled me into his chest and held me there until I calmed down.
"I'm sorry." I muttered into his chest once my tears subsided.
"Don't be sorry, Bella, I know you're worried, but we won't let her hurt you or Charlie." Seth said to me before kissing my forehead softly. "Come on, lets walk down to Emily's."
He held my hand as we walked and asked about my day and what Charlie had said. He was ecstatic when I told him that Charlie okayed me staying down on the res most weekends.
Just before we got to Emily's, Seth pulled me around to face him and brushed a piece of hair out of my face before leaning down to kiss me gently. To my amazement, it still felt just as incredible as the first time.
"I've been wanting to do that since I left this morning." He whispered to me with a shy smile before continuing to pull me toward the house.
When we arrived, only a few pack members were there. Emily came right up to me and hugged me, making me let go of Seth's hand.
"So, what did your dad say?" She asked quickly.
"He loved the idea. He pretty much gave me free reign to be down here as much as I want as long as I get to school on time." I told her with a smile.
"Eek! I'm so excited. I'm setting up a meeting with our first client tomorrow if you want to be here." She gushed.
"Of course! I'm really excited too." I told her happily. I felt my eyes wander over to where Seth was talking to Sam.
"It's changed, hasn't it?" Emily asked me, causing me to look back at her in curiosity. "Your relationship." She clarified. I blushed deeply.
"I know it's quick—" I began but she cut me off.
"Trust me, Bella, I understand completely. It just sort of hits you. This person is your forever person, and you know it with all your heart." It felt like she had said exactly what I knew already.
"And I won the bet." Leah said proudly as she walked in.
"Dude, you guys went official already?" Paul asked Seth as he walked in. Seth made his way back over to me and put his arm around my waist.
"Not publicly official yet." Seth told him before the both of us walked over to the couch. He sat down and pulled me down on top of his lap, making me giggle.
"Oh yeah, they're totally official." Jared said, looking over at us.
"Who's official?" Jacob asked as he walked in. Jared pointed over at us and Jake's eyes followed.
He scowled and then walked right back out the door.
"I need to talk to him, Seth." I whispered and he nodded, understanding that I needed it.
"Just be careful, Bella. Stand a good distance away just in case." Sam told me as I walked toward the door. I nodded and made my way outside. Jake was pacing back and forth like a caged animal as I walked over to him. I did as Sam asked and stayed further back than I usually would have.
"You're already shacking up with him? He's 15, Bella!" Jake asked, infuriating me.
"No, I'm not 'shacking up' with him! We've only kissed. And seriously, Jake, you're only 16! He'll be 16 in less than a month. So, you think it's okay for me to be with you, but not my imprint?" I asked him angrily.
"It's not fair! You were supposed to be mine! My imprint! Not Seth's!" He yelled back.
"No, I wasn't. I was never yours. That wasn't ever in the cards for me, no matter how much you wanted it to be. You were my best friend, Jake, nothing more." I told him honestly, trying to push past the anger.
"Why can you move on with him when you couldn't with me?" He nearly broke down, the sadness evident in his eyes.
"Because he is my perfect match, Jacob. I can feel that with every part of me." I replied.
"But even he said you could just be best friends if that's what you wanted." He tried.
"I didn't want that, Jake. I initiated everything. My feelings changed. I kissed him. He was more than prepared to wait as long as I needed, but I need him, Jacob. I don't care about his age. He is my forever, so I'm sorry if you don't like it, but you'll have to just deal with it, because it's not going to change." I told him angrily before storming off, back into the house.
Seth welcomed me back onto his lap when I walked back inside. I knew they'd all heard it all. I buried my face in Seth's neck in embarrassment.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly, playing with my hair.
"I'm okay. It needed to be said." I told him honestly.
We hung out there for a while before it was time for me to go back home. Seth rode home with me and kissed me sweetly before running back home as a wolf.
A/N- She finally confronted Jake! Guys, I've been writing a bit ahead on this story because I had a specific scene in my mind that I just had to get down and let me tell you, it is a rollercoaster of emotions. It even got me as I was writing it. It's still a few chapters ahead, but man will it be worth the wait.
