PREVIOUSLY-

"Two years, mom?" He asked as if he were taken aback, "Nah, I don't think I can wait that long. Maybe one." He smirked. "If you're lucky."

"It better be a long engagement then." Sue told us, pointing between us both with narrowed eyes.

"I guess I could do that for you, mom." Seth replied to her with a smirk.

I shook my head at their conversation, smiling to myself.

Sue invited Charlie down for dinner and he arrived right on time. Leah also joined us for dinner as a favor to Seth.

I was beyond nervous. Seth tried to reassure me the entire time, but I couldn't help it. When Charlie came through the door, I felt my hands get sweaty.

"Hey there, Bells. How have you been the last few days?" Charlie asked me as took his jacket off and hung it up. I swallowed nervously, not wanting to let him know just how difficult the last few days had actually been.

"We've had tons of fun, Charlie. I even somehow managed to convince Bella to go with me shopping up in Port A, though her only interest was the bookstore, where she ended up falling down the stairs and cutting her hand." Leah chimed in. I mouthed a 'thank you' to her.

"Sounds like my Bells. I'm surprised you got her to go shopping." Charlie said with a laugh.

"She practically twisted my arm." I told him with a laugh.

"So why the dinner with everyone tonight, Sue?" Charlie asked her and I felt my hands get sweaty. "Not that I'd ever pass up a hot meal."

"I asked her to, Charlie." Seth spoke up beside me. This was it.

"What is it, son?" Charlie asked him.

"Sir, Bella and I are—"

"Dating? You really thought I didn't know? I've been wondering when the two of you were finally going to spill the beans." Charlie said, leaning back in his seat with his arms crossed.

"You knew?" I asked, astounded.

"You're not the most subtle, Bells. And believe me, I knew well before Seth's birthday." I paled and looked back at Seth. Charlie then turned to Seth, too. "You're lucky I like you, son. I thought the age difference was a bit much at first, but then I remembered that Renee was 5 years younger than me, so I can't really judge, as long as you make sure you take care of my daughter."

"I would never hurt her, sir. I know I'm only 16, but I already love her." Seth told him as he grabbed my hand under the table.

"I can tell, son. Now, Bella is legally an adult, so she can make her own decisions, but you're not." Charlie looked over at Sue. "You okay with all of this?"

"I am, Charlie. Those two are meant for each other. I can see it clear as day, and you'll be able to as well. My son loves your daughter more than life itself and we both know love never takes age into account." Sue told Charlie with a smile.

"As long as you're okay with it. How long have you known?" Charlie asked Sue as my face reddened.

"Since the very beginning." Sue explained to him. "I've been keeping a close eye on them."

"And when Bella stays the night?" Charlie asked, making my face start burning.

"Dad!" I cringed, putting my face into my hands.

"I make sure she stays in Leah's room, Charlie. You don't have to worry, I'm a light sleeper. Nothing happens that I don't know about." Thank you, Sue.

"Alright then, I think that's good enough for me. Bella, can you pass the mashed potatoes?" Charlie responded, and I just sat there with my mouth open like a fish.

"Come on, starshine, your dad wants the potatoes." Seth laughed as he bumped his shoulder into me, knocking me out of my trance.

I sat in another trance-like state the rest of dinner, kind of working on autopilot. I was still in complete shock that Charlie knew. I'd been worried for nothing.

After dinner, we all moved to the living room as Charlie prepared to leave. "You going to stay the night here, Bells?" He asked with a raised eyebrow as he put his jacket back on.

"Is that okay with you?" I asked, wondering if his response would be different now that he officially knew.

"As long as you stay with Leah. No funny business, got it Seth?" Charlie said, and I could feel my cheeks getting red again. I looked over at Seth whose cheeks were pink himself.

"Loud and clear, chief." He somehow got out.

"You know she's in good hands, Charlie." Sue told him.

He said his goodbyes and shook Seth's hand before leaving. Only when he was finally up the road did I let out a deep breath and nearly fell into Seth's arms. He kissed my head and then burst out laughing.

"You both are lucky that I know how to keep a straight face, otherwise he would definitely know what the both of you get up to." Sue said as she pointed to the both of us.

"I really had to try pretty hard when he told me 'no funny business'." Seth said with a chuckle.

"You both love to embarrass me, don't you?" I protested, burying my face in Seth's chest.

"You do look pretty cute when your cheeks go red, starshine." Seth winked at me as I looked up at him.

"You both should just be glad that you have a mother that knows about the pack and imprints. If I didn't, things would probably be a bit different. You remember that." Sue told us pointedly.

Seth and I both turned to her and somehow in sync we both said, "Yes, mom."

I hadn't even realized I'd called Sue 'mom'. It was odd because I never even called my own parents by 'mom' or 'dad'. Seth must've been rubbing off on me too much.

Seth and I then made our way up to his room and he closed the door.

"I can't believe Charlie knew." I muttered to him.

"He isn't the chief of police for no reason, starshine. I'm just surprised that he waited this long to confirm, and let you stay here in the meantime. I have to admit, I really happy that he's not taking that away." Seth told me as he leaned forward to kiss me.

"Do you think he knows?" I asked him before kissing him back.

"I'd be surprised if he didn't, starshine. He probably just doesn't want to acknowledge it." He told me as he dragged me to the bed on top of him. "You called my mom 'mom'."

"I did. I didn't even know I did until after i'd said it." I told him as I laid on his chest.

"I like that. You're already part of my family. Leah thinks of you like a sister and my mom thinks of you as a daughter. One day you will be officially." He told me with a smile as his arms wrapped around my body. "I love you, starshine."

"I love you too, Seth." I murmured into his chest happily before falling asleep in his arms.

A/N- You guys know Charlie is perceptive. He's a police officer, he knows things. He's also known Seth since he was born. In all of my stories, Charlie is pretty chill, because I feel like he would be unless Bella got hurt.

What do you think?
