"There's nothing to apologize for, starshine. You didn't choose this. A psychotic vampire tried to murder you. I can't blame you for what you said when you thought you were dying. You did manage to tell me you loved me though, so I'll let that one pass." He said.

"I do love you, more than anything." I told him proudly.

"And I love you too, more than the universe."

It took me another week to fully recover and I was still getting used to my new senses. So far I had a heightened smell and hearing. I was finally back to working with Emily, even though Seth begged me to wait another week to make sure I was fine.

I had yet another double crescent shaped silvery cold scar on my neck, curtesy of Edward, but Seth's own bite mark between my neck and shoulder was at least 10x more sensitive to me now.

I was baking with Emily when Seth came in from patrol and dipped his finger in the cake batter, licking it off, before wrapping his arms around me from behind, leaning forward to kiss my mark.

I sucked in a breath as a rush of heat ran to my core and turned to face him with narrowed eyes.

"Not fair, you know what that does to me." I whispered to him as Emily giggled.

"I do, starshine." He told me as he leaned forward to kiss my lips.

"I can finish this one up myself, Bella." Emily winked at me before Seth lifted me up to swing my legs around his waist, carrying me outside.

"Did you finally decide I was healthy enough again?" I asked him as we walked me into the woods.

"My wolf did." He smirked at me. "You needed the time to rest."

"I've been ready the past three days at least." I pouted.

"And it took everything in me to tell you no, but even my wolf knew you needed to wait. Now you don't, and I plan on taking full advantage. My wolf is begging to have you out in the woods." He whispered in my ear as he lowered me back to the forest floor. "Spirits you smell so good."

"Then take me." I dared him with a smirk.

He didn't waste his time. My clothes were in shreds once more and I really hoped none of the wolves were patrolling in the area, otherwise they would've gotten a show and a tell.

When we were both fully sated, he carried me (naked) back home and snuck us in past his mom, who thankfully didn't see us. I giggled as we made it into our apartment.

"I owe you another pair of clothes… sorry starshine." He told me, scratching his head as he placed me in our bed.

"Don't be. I loved every second of that." I told him honestly.

Three days after that, Seth got a call as we were in the grocery store in Forks.

"Who is it?" I asked him as he opened his cell phone to answer.

"Charlie?" He questioned as he answered it.

"I need you to come to my house, son. We have a problem." Charlie told him.

Oh no.

"What happened?" Seth asked him immediately as we abandoned our groceries and quickly made our way to the exit of the store.

"I came home from work and I noticed a car in my driveway." Charlie explained.

"Who is it?" Seth asked him quickly.

"Carlisle Cullen."

"We're on our way." Seth told him, hanging up the phone. We left my truck in the parking lot, opting for the faster path, aka wolf.

We were there within two minutes and I saw Carlisle's car in the driveway, just as Charlie had said.

Seth let me off his back and walked around the back of the house still as a wolf, growling when he saw Carlisle standing in front of Charlie, who was pointing a shotgun at his face. I was thankful to my new super hearing when I could hear what they were saying from so far away.

"I know this won't kill you, but I'm sure it'll do some type of damage." I heard Charlie say to him.

"You know about us?" Carlisle questioned him.

Charlie chuffed and replied, "I know about a lot of things now, 'cold one'. Your 'son' damn near killed my daughter."

"I don't understand, Charlie." Carlisle responded to him as he held his hands up in front of his chest.

"It's Chief Swan to you." Charlie grunted.

"Chief Swan, please, I assure you I have no idea what you're talking about." Carlisle said to him as we came around the corner.

Seth pushed me close to his side with his muzzle as we approached.

"Bella?" Carlisle questioned as I walked up with my wolf.

"Carlisle." I responded.

"I assume this is one of the wolves from La Push?" I nodded. "What does your father mean by Edward almost killed you?" He asked quickly as Seth growled at him menacingly.

I pulled my hair back over my shoulder and turned so that he could see my new scar. He seemed taken aback.

"Edward did this to you?"

"Only about a week and a half ago." I replied with a sneer. "He said you didn't know about his 'change in diet' as he held me hostage in front of my mate and my best friend."

"He's drinking from humans?" Carlisle seemed almost jarred.

"You really don't know, do you? Why are you here at my father's house?" I asked him as Seth continued to growl.

"Your father's house? You do not live here any longer?" he questioned.

"I live in La Push now. Why are you here?"

"I tracked Edward's scent back here. We'd lost touch with him a while back in Alaska and I was trying to find him." He told me.

"You won't find him." I replied honestly. "He broke the treaty, then tried to kill me. He almost succeeded, too. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm mated to a wolf, I would have either died or been changed. My wolves did what they needed to do." I explained to him as I watched his expression fall.

Suddenly, the rest of the Cullens showed up out of nowhere and I heard growling coming from the trees behind me. I turned to see the rest of the pack walking out to stand around Seth and I.

"Dad, go to our house. Now." I told Charlie and I knew he would understand. He nodded and took his gun with him, leaving immediately.

Sam phased back human and pulled his shorts on as he walked in front of me towards the Cullens.

"Edward is… dead?" Alice asked me in particular.

Esme started dry sobbing.

"The treaty is broken. Edward came with threats at Bella's graduation and he already had red eyes. He then came back with the intent to change or kill her. He bit Bella right in front of her mate, one of our pack. Her mate showed him mercy by finishing him quickly while Bella writhed in excruciating pain for eight whole days, hovering on the edge of death, then only just fully recovering a few days ago." Sam told them angrily.

"Edward would never have—" Alice began. "I saw—"

"Did you see this, Alice?" Carlisle turned to question her. She didn't answer. "Did you see Edward coming for Bella?"

"I couldn't see past the wolves, I just saw that Edward was going to try to bring Bella back to us and he was going turn her…" Alice told him with a frown. "She was going to be part of our family again. I just thought the red eyes were from him changing her..."

"You decided to withhold this information from us?" Esme asked her.

"I didn't think he'd hurt her. I just wanted my sister back…" Alice pouted.

"Leave now. You're not welcome to stay with us any longer." Carlisle told her adamantly.

"But—"

"No, you will leave at once." He repeated.

Alice pulled Jasper by the hand and they sped off in the opposite direction.

"I sincerely apologize for the events that have occurred because of my family. I understand that you did as you needed to." Carlisle told all of us.

"Then you also understand that the treaty remains null and void. We will allow your presence just this once. If you return, we will make sure you share the same fate." Sam told them commandingly.

"We understand. We do not wish any further troubles and will stay away from the Olympic Peninsula." Carlisle replied. "If I may inquire, are you well, Bella? You seem to have a fever."

I scoffed. "Thanks to your son, I now have wolf blood running through my veins mixed with my own because I lost so much blood that my mate had to supplement with his own. My natural temperature runs around 102 now. So yes, I'm just fine." I replied to him.

"I see. While I would like to inquire more, I understand that our presence is making your mate very agitated and on edge, as well as the rest of the pack. We shall take our leave now." Carlisle said to me before turning to leave.

"And Carlisle," I spoke, making him turn to look back at me. "Don't come back. If any of you do, I won't hold him back."

"Understood. Goodbye, Bella."

They disappeared in almost an instant and I felt the tension leave my shoulders.

Seth nudged me with his nose and laid down in front of me so that I could hop onto his back. Sam phased back as well, and we all took off back to the res. My truck would be fine in the supermarket parking lot until we were ready to come get it.

Once we got back home, Charlie was inside with Sue pacing back and forth anxiously.

"What happened? Are they gone?" Charlie asked immediately as soon as we walked in the door. "Everyone okay?"

"We're fine Charlie, there wasn't any fighting. They're gone and not coming back. Bella and Sam explained what happened and what would happen if they were to ever come back." Seth told him as he grabbed me a water and threw it to me.

"Good riddance." Charlie stated.

A/N- The Cullens have returned... and left. I'm so proud of how I wrote Charlie in this story. I know that's kind of 'tooting my own horn' but this whole story just gives me the feels. I kind of based this story's Charlie off of my own dad in a way. What do you think?
