Note: Some of the human experimentation is laid out here. While it is not graphic, it still is what it is. Feel free to skip this chapter if you're not comfortable with it. We'll hear directly from Bucky about all this in later chapters anyway.
OBSERVATION LOG FOR SUBJECT 17
PREPARED FOR DOCTOR ARNIM ZOLA BY LEUTNANT GERHARD K. SCHMITZ
Day 00
Subject 17 uncooperative. Persuasion tactics employed. Antibiotic and sedative administered. Baseline tissue samples collected: blood (including marrow), liver, cerebrospinal fluid.
Day 01
Physical exam performed. Several fractures noted. Confirmed pneumonia. First dose TH6 healing factor administered.
Day 02
Symptoms of pneumonia improved. Bone fractures improved. Metabolic rate has increased above expected range after initial dose of TH6 healing factor. Second dose TH6 healing factor administered.
Day 03
No remaining symptoms of pneumonia. Bone fractures healed through. Metabolic rate remains above expected range. Additional tissue samples collected.
Day 04
Analysis of tissue samples show Subject 17 has not permanently accepted effects of TH6 healing factor. Administered Serum L1-4. Dwell time 2 minutes and 33 seconds. Administered radioactive catalyst for three 15-second intervals.
Subject 17's temperature exceeded acceptable limits. Urgent cooling protocol used to return temperature within limits. Standard decontamination procedure completed. Subject 17 sedated.
Day 05
Metabolic rate and temperature above expected limits. Third dose of TH6 healing factor administered.
Day 06
Tissue samples collected. Serum L1-4 successful as evidenced by presence in blood marrow sample. TH6 healing factor has not been permanently accepted.
Day 07
Due to prolonged increase in metabolic rate and noncompliance from Subject 17, gavage feeding has been arranged. Authorisation given to repeat gavage feeding procedure for as long as Subject 17 remains hostile.
Day 08
Three 7-second intervals with radioactive catalyst. Fourth dose of TH6 healing factor administered.
Day 09
First electroconvulsive therapy treatment. Subject 17 remained coherent through treatment.
Day 10
Subject 17 attempted to self-terminate the treatment regimen. Subject 17 has been stripped of belongings and searched. HYDRA-issued common field knife confiscated from Subject 17's quarters. Based on tissue samples collected after self-termination attempt, effects of TH6 healing factor have been permanently accepted.
Subject 17 gavage fed.
Day 11
Serum L2-15 administered. Dwell time 2 hours 32 minutes and 12 seconds. Administered radioactive catalyst for six 2-minute intervals.
Standard decontamination procedure completed. Subject 17 sedated.
Day 12
Subject 17 delivered to sensory deprivation chamber.
Day 13
Subject 17 in sensory deprivation chamber. Intermittent bouts of distress.
Day 14
Re-introduction of sensory stimulus indicated successful heightening of Subject 17's auditory sense.
Chamber returned to full sensory deprivation for a dwell time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 53 seconds. Chamber temperature increased from 20.2 degrees centigrade (ambient) to 48.0 degrees centigrade. Dwell time at 48.0 degrees centigrade of 4 hours 13 minutes and 9 seconds. Subject 17 experienced few bouts of distress. Chamber temperature reduced to minimum allowed (-18.5 degrees centigrade). Dwell time of 5 hours 30 minutes and 44 seconds. No distress of Subject 17 observed.
Chamber returned to full sensory deprivation.
Day 15
Sensory deprivation chamber returned to ambient status. Dwell time 3 hours 55 minutes and 28 seconds. Subject 17 removed from sensory deprivation. Subject 17 combative and uncooperative. Brute force method deployed to ensure Subject 17's compliance.
Second electroconvulsive therapy treatment. Subject 17 lost awareness 48 seconds into treatment.
Tissue samples collected.
Subject 17 gavage fed.
Day 16
Between sensory deprivation test results and latest tissue samples, Serum L2-15 has been deemed successfully administered.
Day 17
Administered PA14 cocktail. Mental conditioning.
Day 18
Serum L3-7 administered. Dwell time 35 minutes and 16 seconds. Subject 17 experienced seizures and cardiac distress. Exposure to radioactive catalyst delayed. Dose of TH6 healing factor administered as precaution per Doctor A. Zola.
Day 19
Administered radioactive catalyst for four 10-minute intervals. Subject 17 lost awareness 3 minutes into first interval.
Standard decontamination procedure completed. Subject 17 sedated.
Day 20
Administered PA14 cocktail. Mental conditioning.
Day 21
Subject 17 particularly uncooperative. Non-standard and standard tissue samples collected.
Administered additional radioactive catalyst for two 1-minute intervals.
Subject 17 gavage fed.
Day 22
Additional thermal testing. Subject 17 retained critical functionality at -25.7 degrees centigrade.
Day 23
Administered PA14 cocktail. Mental conditioning.
Day 24
Serum L3-7 determined successful.
Day 25
Administered PA14 cocktail. Mental conditioning.
Day 26
Final Serum L4-2 administered. Subject 17 experienced seizures, cardiac distress, and increase in body temperature outside of acceptable limits immediately. Urgent cooling protocol used to return temperature within acceptable limits. Two doses of TH6 healing factor administered.
Exposure to radioactive catalyst delayed. Gavage feeding delayed.
Day 27
Additional dose of TH6 healing factor administered before setup for radioactive catalyst exposure as a precaution per Doc—
