At Burger Boy's restaurant in Transylvania, the manager is giving Frank the job. "I'd be happy to hire you, Frank," he said. "If you need $20,000, then I sure can help you."
"Oh, thank you, sir!" Frank thanked him. "I really need that money within 47 hours!"
"Well, you're in luck. You're standing in the richest hot spot in Transylvania. They say that long ago, there used to be trees that grew money. Pretty weird if you ask me."
"Okay then! How much do I get an hour?"
"$1,000."
"Holy cow! At that rate, I'll get the money in less than 20 hours. That's not so bad! Please tell me I'm not dreaming!"
"You're not dreaming." Wayne said.
"YAY! I'M NOT DREAMING!"
Unfortunately, eight hours later, Frank somehow gets fired and he is forced to pay all $8,000 he's made up or go to prison for five years. Once he returned to the hotel, he vents his frustration over his failure to make up the required amount of money he needed to pay back Queen Grinder and her colony. "Dang it! I was so close to paying my dues. What in the universe gave them the right to take all the $8,000 I made up?"
"Well, Frank, the restaurant was in the richest sector in Transylvania." Wayne answered. "So, their government is pretty unfair. I mean, I have heard stories that Burger Boys has been picked on for being 'too generous' and finally decided that they should follow proper restaurant protocol, starting by letting go those that ask too much! I still got my job, but only with the 'proper' minimum wage of either one or three dollars, give or take the occasional raise strictly on special occasions."
"Well, I'm never going there again for a job. Maybe just a visit for drowning my problems in 'Burger Boys' trademark milkshake' but that's it. And we've got only 38 hours left." Frank sighed. "Let's face it, we're finished! We're finished like Daffy Duck was when he got mixed up with the ghost of J.P. Cubish!"
"You've seen 'Daffy Duck's Quackbusters' before?" Murray asked.
"Of course. But the point is we'll never get the money in time!" Just then, Frank's luck started to turn as he notices a poster that says, "Wrestling Competition Tomorrow at 8:30 sharp". "Oh my god!"
"What is it?" Griffin asked.
"Look out there! 'Wrestling Competition!' C'mon, we gotta take a closer look!" They go outside to the forest and Frank grabs the poster that was posted on a tree, then reads it. "'Wrestling Competition starting tomorrow at the Stadium in the city at 8:30 pm. If you've got what it takes to beat our world champions, then come on down and fight them. Whoever wins the competition wins a $20,000 cash prize.' Guys, look! The prize money is exactly $20,000! If I can get someone to beat all those world champions, I'll win that money and pay my debts! It's perfect!"
"Frank, I don't think that's a good idea." Wayne spoke up with concern, "You can't convince someone living in the hotel to fight these champions just to get all that money for yourself. It just doesn't work like that."
"What do you mean?"
"He means that you're planning to force someone to get you that money." Murray answered. "And according to the rules of wrestling, the prize money belongs to the wrestler only, and not anyone else. You have no idea what the penalty is for something like that."
"Murray, there's nothing else we can do about it. We have to do it, guys! We can't afford to have fire ants swarming the hotel. Now, are you with me or not?"
"Fine, we're in!" Griffin replied exaggeratedly.
"Awesome! Now, who do we know who is excellent at fighting, but can keep a secret?"
"What about the yeti?" Wayne suggested. "He's a good fighter, and I know he can keep a secret."
"Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Yeti really is a hush-hush guy. But wait, he's not exactly the brightest star in the galaxy."
"Hmm, good point." Murray agreed.
"How about Johnny? He's good at keeping secrets."
"Actually, even though he's a good fighter, I really doubt he can handle those rough champs." Griffin said. "I mean, remember when the Kraken nearly crushed the guy with his tentacle?"
"You're right…Well, I guess there's only one fighter left that can keep secrets and won't end ratting on us and/or getting easily pummeled: Dracula."
"Frank, he has to be there for Mavis and Dennis when they return from the seaside resort." Wayne reminded his friend.
"I know, but she'll be back tomorrow. So, all we need to do is wait until he comes back after picking them up at the airport, then sign him up. Are you with me?"
"I am!"
"Me too!" Murray agreed secondly.
"Me three!" Griffin also agreed.
"Good. Let's do it." Frank said.
The next day, Sunday, at 6:30 pm, Mavis, Dennis, Winnie and Tinkles are returning to Transylvania on the plane from the resort they had their vacation at.
"That was amazing, mom!" Dennis said to his mother before addressing Winnie. "I had a great time meeting all those people and having fun with you, Winnie and Tinkles."
"It was an honor, birthday boy!" Mavis replied as she hugged her son.
"Thanks for taking me with you, zing-zing." Winnie thanked her best friend and secret crush. The vampire/human hybrid and werewolf pup sat and cuddled next to each other with their arms wrapped around one another. After a short while, Winnie smally kissed Dennis on the cheek, causing him to shiver nervously.
"Now it's time for us to head home." Mavis said.
"Yeah, we need to see how Papa Drac and the others are doing." Dennis replied.
"You said it." Winnie spoke up.
Later, they arrive back in Transylvania and have returned to the hotel after Dracula picked them up.
"We're back, everyone!" Mavis announced when she, Dennis, Winnie and Tinkles entered through the doors.
"Mavis, you're back!" Dracula exclaimed with glee as he runs up to his daughter and grandson.
"Welcome back, Mavis and Dennis." Ericka Van Helsing greeted them. "How was the trip?"
"It was wonderful!" Mavis answered. "I got along well with the humans and other monsters who lived there, and we stayed in a hotel run by a lady and her black cat."
Abraham Van Helsing came rolling up to Dracula. "Okay, Dracula, I need to tell you that Frank, Wayne, Murray and Griffin need to talk to you in private for some reason." The man-machine said. "They're in the briefing room and they asked for complete privacy."
"Really?" Dracula asked. "Well, what kind of secret thing could they have possibly done to make them come crying to me?" In the briefing room, Frank, Wayne, Murray and Griffin told Dracula about the situation they're in. "YOU MADE A LOAN TO A FIRE ANT QUEEN?!"
"SHH!" Frank shushed the vampire. "Be quiet, Drac! We don't want anyone to know about this."
"Well, I'm sorry, Frank, but I'm going to have to tell everyone about this very serious situation."
"Maybe a certain someone wouldn't want these to exposed in the hotel." Murray said. He shows pictures of three of Wayne's sons stealing from a cookie jar.
Upon seeing them, Dracula screams with an aoogah sound. "How the hell did you get these pictures?"
"Simple. No flash photography." Frank answered. "Works every time."
"Frank, do you really think blackmailing can get you through everything?" Wayne addressed Frankenstein. "First, you blackmail us, and now you blackmail him? That's just wrong."
"Shut up, Wayne! Look, Drac, we need your help! We gotta get those $20,000 or else this hotel will be overrun by trillions of fire ants. Just like when the pyramids were infested with those flesh-harvesting scarab beetles in 'The Mummy'."
"Well, how exactly do you plan to do it?" Dracula asked.
"With this!" Frank shows him the wrestling competition poster.
"So let me get this straight. You want me to fight in the wrestling competition for $20,000 just to pay off a loan?"
"Precisely!"
"Well, count me out, buster! I'm not fighting those buff bullies."
"Fine, refuse our offer! Just hope you have a backup plan should Mavis get blistered by fire ants and get a serious allergic reaction and possibly die. I mean, not a lot we know about her. We don't know how she reacts to fire ant stings!"
"FINE, I'll do it! How much time do we have?"
"18 hours until the Queen invades."
"Okay, let's do it."
Looks like Frank found a way to repay $20,000 to Queen Griner by having Dracula enter a wrestling competition. The next chapter is where the main plot of this story kicks off, so be prepared!
