Isaac ended up sleeping for almost six hours. The kids had woken up after about two and Allison had kept her word, coaxing Isaac awake briefly to let him know she was taking them out of the room. He tried to get up, but Allison convinced him to close his eyes again and Isaac's exhaustion quickly won out. Derek took the chair next to the bed and shooed Allison off to do whatever she needed to do, continuing his vigil.

His mom and Chris had come back from their outing with sandwich supplies for lunch and stuff for the grill for dinner. Scott found he quite liked having little kids around, even though this was his first experience with them. They weren't too unlike some of the pets he dealt with at the clinic, although he wouldn't bring up that comparison to their parents.

Allison was just as good of a mom as Isaac was a dad, taking care of all of her children's needs with a smile. Celine happily ate a sandwich, chattering to Chris about something in a mix of French and English that Scott couldn't keep up with. Julian gummed down something mushy and unappetizing, but he seemed to enjoy it. Scott's mom was smiling brighter than he'd seen in years.

They were relaxing in the living room when Isaac finally came back down from his sleep. Scott could hear him grumbling before he saw him, with Derek following behind him.

"I don't think I needed a babysitter," Isaac grunted, his sour face shifting into one of pure joy when he saw his kids again. He immediately got down on the floor and began stacking blocks with them where they were playing.

"Don't look at it as babysitting. Just think of it as Derek being really creepy, if that makes you feel better," Scott chuckled, smirking at Derek's offended face.

"How do you feel?" Allison asked, squatting behind Isaac and draping her arms over his shoulders.

"Better, thank you," Isaac admitted, twisting to give her a kiss on the cheek. "Melissa, I'm sorry it's too late for me to cook dinner tonight, but I promise I'll make it tomorrow."

"Don't be ridiculous! You are much more important than any dinner, even one as amazing as what you're planning," she assured him.

"Could I actually talk to you for a second? In private?" Isaac asked.

"Uh," Scott mumbled, looking around the room.

"Right, I forgot that privacy doesn't really exist around werewolves," Isaac chuckled.

"Is it something bad? Should we go for a drive?" Melissa asked.

"No, nothing bad. I just don't want to put any pressure on you in front of anyone else," Isaac sighed. "It's kind of hard to explain without actually saying it."

"Well, I don't have an issue talking in front of everyone if you don't. The less secrets, the better," Scott's mom shrugged.

"With the way our lives are, it's always best to try to prepare for any situation that can come up," Isaac started, glancing at his kids. "The plan from the beginning has always been for Chris to get the kids if anything happened to us. And now that we're back here and you two are together, I figure you have a right to know about it."

"Okay," she nodded.

"Alli and I have talked it over a bit and we would love for you to stay a part of their lives, even if things don't work out between you and Chris. You were such a good mother to me while I lived here and I would love it if my kids got to experience that from you too."

"Oh, I'd be honored!" his mom cried, dabbing at the corners of her eyes a little. "But until that day comes, which I hope it never does, I will love these kids like my grandchildren. Just because you left for a while, doesn't mean I ever stopped loving you like a son." Isaac nodded, ducking his head as his own emotions started showing.

"So, that's what happened with the picture," Scott said knowingly.

"It just hit me suddenly that that's what it would look like if I was gone. And after what happened, it was a little too close to coming true," Isaac whispered, leaning his head back onto Allison's shoulder.

"Well, it didn't. And we have so many more people here to make sure it never does," Allison assured him.

"Yeah, like Uncle Scott and Creepy Derek," Scott bragged.

"Why do you get to be uncle? And stop calling me creepy," Derek groaned.

"Isaac gave me the title," Scott boasted.

"Well, Julian likes me more than you. I didn't see you holding him," Derek grumbled.

"Oh really?" Allison asked, tipping her head to look at Isaac.

"Barely," Isaac waved off.

"Are you sure?" Scott laughed, pulling out his phone and flashing the picture he sent to everyone earlier.

"What the hell?" Derek growled.

"It's a very cute picture. I'm trying to decide which wall to put it on," Scott's mom cooed.

"Should I be worried?" Allison joked.

"Scott," Isaac whined.

"I couldn't resist!" Scott defended.

"Two days in and he gets to hold a kid?" Chris scoffed in mock offense. "And in public?"

"Only for like, a minute. And it was the carrier's fault. I'm never using it again," Isaac muttered.

"I'll write a letter to the manufacturer about it," Allison soothed, giggling when Isaac rolled his eyes.

"My hero," Isaac sighed, leaning up to give her a quick peck on the lips.

"Where you going?" Celine whined as Julian crawled through her tower of blocks. All the adults watched in shocked silence as Julian crawled right to Derek, pulling on his pant legs when he stopped at his feet. Derek grinned in triumph, sitting down on the floor and setting Julian in his lap. The baby giggled happily, pawing at Derek's beard. Isaac and Celine had matching scowls on their faces.

"Julian McHale. We should've seen it coming," Allison shrugged.

"But I'm the Mc part of that," Scott whined, staring at the scene with a pout.

"Mcdonalds!" Celine squealed. Isaac snorted, shooting him an apologetic look. Scott would have to see about getting them a happy meal later, if that was okay with Allison and Isaac. He wasn't above buying his way into their hearts, at least enough to get his foot in the door.

"I'm sure they'll warm up to you, sweetie," his mom assured him.

"I guess," Scott sighed.

"Oh, don't be jealous, Uncle Scott. Maybe the next baby will like you," Isaac chuckled. Chris started hemming and hawing about Isaac leaving his daughter alone, while Allison lightly slapped Isaac on the shoulder for getting her dad started on that tangent for no reason. Scott's mom pulled Chris toward the kitchen so they could get things ready for the grill, with Chris muttering all the way.

"I don't know why you always do that to him," Allison laughed, moving so she was sitting next to Celine.

"He makes it so easy," Isaac smirked.

"You're lucky he loves you."

"Yeah, I really am," Isaac agreed, looking at his family with a soft smile on his face. They were all lucky to get the chance to be back together again. Not everyone got second chances and Scott couldn't even count the number they'd all gotten. But they were here now, and that's what mattered.
