That's... REID!
Hotch turned on the emergency lights and put the car in park and immediately hopped out and ran to whoever was in-charge of the scene.
"I'm SSA Aaron Hotchner of the FBI what happened here?" Hotch said while showing the police chief his badge.
"Well apparently based on the person driving the car was that the man who got hit-"
"Spencer Reid!" All 5 BAU agents shouted interrupting him.
"Sorry, the person driving the car hit that hit Spencer explained that he was just driving down the road and even though he was not on his phone and had his high beams on and driving the speed limit, it was still very difficult to see so far ahead of him. and then in a blink of an eye Spencer appeared in front of him and because of the rain he was unable to break in time causing the collision. The ambulance is taking him to the hospital now."
"How bad is he?" Garcia almost cried?
"Not sure haven't talked to the EMT yet. Wait how do you guys know him?" The police chief questioned.
"He works for the FBI just like we do. We are all coworkers." Rossi explained.
"Oh okay. All i can tell you in terms of Spencer's condition is that based off the damage of the car, how fast the car was going and my experience, not great. Not death but not great." The Chief said.
"Okay well thanks for everything we are going to head back to the hospital then." Hotch said to the chief as he made his way back to the SUV.
"Wait what do you mean back to the hospital?" The chief said.
"Long story." Morgan finished as the 4 BAU agents ran back to the SUV.
"Someone should contact JJ or Will and tell them what happened to boy wonder." Garcia said.
"I'll take care of it." Hotch said as he let Morgan drive them back to the hospital intending on calling JJ anyway.
"Hey Hotch." JJ said sitting with Henry in hospital room.
"JJ I'm not really sure how to sugar coat this but Reid'd been hurt."
"Wh- What?" JJ gasped. suddenly feeling her stomach tightened. "What do you mean he's hurt."
"We were driving back from the hospital to the BAU and we drove past a car accident. Garcia noticed it was only a one car wreck and Morgan was the one who noticed Reid being lifted on the Stretcher and into the ambulance." Hotch said to JJ not expecting how she'd react.
"Oh, my god! This is all my fault Hotch! If I wasn't so mean to him he never would have gotten hurt!" JJ started crying just as Will returned to the room after getting a cup of coffee.
"Whats wrong JJ?"
"Reid got hit by a car and is on his way to this hospital." JJ cried.
"Oh my Is he alright?" Will said
"I'm not sure Will i just got off the phone with Hotch and it didnt sound good."
"Its alright JJ, Reid's a fighter he'll be fine." Will tried to comfort JJ by hugging her.
"You dont get it Will this is my fault if i wasnt so angry toward him he never would have gotten hurt! This is all my fault!" JJ cried into Will's shoulder.
"Its okay JJ its okay." Will said not knowing what else to say. "When the team gets here you should go wait in the ER waiting room with them. Henry will be fine here with me.
"Okay thank you Will." JJ said while sniffling.
"No problem"
20 Minutes later the team arrived back in the waiting room seeing a greif-stricken JJ pacing in a circle.
"How is is?" Morgan said
"I don't know yet i thought you guys would know more. I dont even know if hes here yet." JJ said swiftly.
"How are you doing JJ? you should sit down." Emily tried to console her friend.
"I can't. I can't sit down knowing that Spence got hurt so badly because of how i reacted to him earlier." JJ cried.
"Its not your fault you need to understand that." Garcia said.
"Yes it is!" JJ almost yelled causing Morgan and Hotch to stop discussing between them and to look at her. "If i never got so angry at Spence he never would have stormed out of the hospital and he never would have gotten hit!" JJ's legs started to give out causing her to lean on Emily more who she was already hugging and crying into.
"It's ok JJ Reid will be okay." Hotch said.
"I hope you're right Hotch because i dont know what I'm going to do with myself if he isn't." JJ confessed.
Hours past with no words on Reid's state and it became so late at night that the only people in the waiting room were the 6 BAU members. That didnt mean the Tension in the room was any less than high. All 6 of them were anxiously waiting on finding out how their resident genius is doing.
"Family of Mr. Spencer Reid?"
"Dr.!" Rossi, Hotch, Morgan, Emily and Garcia corrected.
"Yes How is he." JJ didn't notice or care about the correction as she jumped from her seat and practically ran toward the doctor.
"Are you all family?" The doctor questioned.
"Yes we all are." JJ lied
"Ok well I'm Dr. Taylor and Dr. Reid is in very critical condition."
"What do you mean critical?" Hotch said.
"He has a broken arm, 5 broken ribs, 3 of them were fractured, a serious concussion and minor scrapes and bruises throughout his body. He is also currently in a coma." Dr. Taylor said to the team.
No one on the team could speak. They were all in shock as to what Reid did to himself.
He's in a coma and he may never wake up and the last thing he might ever remember of me is how i told him he was a horrible godfather. JJ thought to herself and almost started crying just thinking about that.
Dr. Taylor decided to speak up since he noticed the agents wouldn't be for a bit. "I can take you to his room now if you'd like."
One by one they all gradually made their way into Reid's room. They all internally cringed at what they saw. They saw Reid with a breathing tube down his throat and a bunch of wires coming off of him and heart monitors. They saw all of his visible skin either cut up or bruised. He looked terrible.
"Oh my sweet boy wonder." Garcia softly said.
"What do we do now?" Emily said
"Now we just sit and wait and hope. Thats all we can do now." Rossi stated.
Its been roughly 5 hours sitting either in the room Reid was being held in or the waiting room because there was only so much room 5 agents can comfortably get situated in for a long period of time. They all had an unspoken rotation that they used to stay with reid while the others either stayed in the waiting room or went down to the cafeteria to try to get something inside them. But none of them really wanted to leave Reid.
It was just Morgan who was sitting by Reid's bed at hour number 6. Garcia had left the hospital to get some actual food for him and his favorite strawberry Jello. JJ Emily and Hotch were in the cafeteria while Rossi stayed in the waiting room reading a magazine.
All of a sudden Reid's machine started to beep rapidly until the constant beeping turned into one static noise. One noise Morgan wished he never heard come from that machine. Reid was flat-lining.
