Bonnie was amazed at how well her wedding dress fit. She still wasn't showing much, but she felt like a cow. "You look gorgeous," Caroline yelled as she looked at Bonnie. "I can't believe you're officially going to be my sister in just a couple of hours."
"I know this is so trippy," Bonnie laughed. "I'm getting married," she said with tears falling already.
"Now baby girl let's not mess up your makeup," Gloria said grabbing some tissue.
"Yeah because you are a messy crier," Caroline said making them laugh.
"I'm going to finish up Hayley and Katherine should be ready and Lucy should be working on the flower girl," Gloria said.
"Thanks Gloria for all your help," Bonnie said grabbing her hand.
Gloria put her hand over Bonnie's and smiled a warm motherly smile. "Thank you for taking care of Damon. I've never seen that boy so happy. You are wonderful and I hope he spends the rest of his life making you see that," she smiled.
"Thank you," Bonnie said as she wrapped her arms around Gloria. "Thank you so much."
"I'm going to check on the caterer and make sure Tyler is keeping an eye on things. I'll be right back to do some more maid of honor bridely banter in a sec," Caroline said quickly switching on her wedding planner mode.
"Care this wedding is going to be perfect," Bonnie smiled.
"I hope so," she smiled back.
"It will, just remember to breathe," she laughed.
Caroline took in a deep breath making a show of it. "I will," she winked.
Bonnie sat in the vanity chair and thought about her family. She missed them more than anything and decided to call. Caroline's phone sat staring her in the face so she grabbed it out of her bag, and dialed her house. She didn't know if anyone would pick up but she needed to hear their voices. It was Saturday her dad coached little language on Saturday in one of the poorer neighboring counties. She hoped her mom would answer, but it want to voice mail.
It was their old family voicemail she was surprised they didn't change it.
Abby started the greeting, "Hello you have reached."
"Bonnie," she said.
"How come she gets to go first," Jaime complained. That made Bonnie laugh.
"Just say your name, Jaime," Rudy yelled.
"Jaime."
"Abby"
"And Ruby."
"We aren't"- Beep
Bonnie couldn't keep from laughing at her crazy family. "I miss you guys so much. I'll be home soon." she said and ended the call. Bonnie went off on a laughing fit for another minute and Stefan decided to pay her a visit.
"Hey," Bonnie smiled as she got up to hug him.
"You look stunning," Stefan smiled.
"Thank you," Bonnie smiled.
"Is everything okay?" Stefan asked. He was always good at sensing when people were pretending to be happy.
"Yes Stefan everything is perfect. I'm marrying Damon today," she smiled.
"I guess I wouldn't be thrilled about that either," he said making her laugh.
"You are probably more excited about this than Care is," Bonnie smiled.
"Caroline always believed in you guys," he smiled.
"But you were the one that told Damon were to find me when I rented that hotel room for me and Marcel. And you got everyone out for the weekend in case we came back, didn't you Stefan?"
"I don't know what you're talking about Bonnie. But if I did, not saying that I do know-anything, the person that did all of that must have really believed in you and the effect you have on Damon."
"I'm glad to have that person's trust. Let them know that if you ever meet them," Bonnie smiled.
"I'll let them know," he laughed. "I came here for a reason. Your groom really wants to get this show on the road and he can't wait to see you. But I calmed him a little and Caroline is yelling at him, but he wanted to give you something old, something new, and I swapped out his something barrowed for a gift from Kat," Stefan said.
Bonnie took the gift bag from Stefan and went through it. Bonnie pick out a small envelope from Caroline's stationary and inside was a wallet size picture of Damon doing his freaky eye bulging thing she hated, and on the back was a short poem. "For our 'I dos', I give to you, my eyes to use as your something blue."
"Wow no wonder why he told me not to go through this," Stefan laughed.
"That was sweet," Bonnie said smacking Stefan's arm. She reached in to the bag again picking out a jelewry box.
"There isn't a crapy poem with that it's a nicklace I got for Kat. She said it would look nice with your dress," he smiled.
"And leave it to Kat to have you send all he compliments," Bonnie said taking it out of its box.
"Here," Stefan said putting it on for her.
"Thank you, she was right this is perfect."
"It is l love it," he smiled at her.
"Lets see what's next. 'For our I dos I give to you something old, but renewed," she laughed. Taped to the back of the note was a gold teddy bear hair clip. The amber colored crystal sparkled like new.
"That was Isobel's she gave it to him before she left," he smiled at her.
"Wow," Bonnie said. She fiddled with her veil and put the clip in her hair right before her bun. "Next we have 'Just to show how much I care a new pair of earrings for you to wear," she said opening the box to see a pair of gold chandelier earrings. "Wow," she said. "These look really expensive."
"Knowing Damon they are the most expensive and tasteful thing he could fine," Stefan laughed.
Bonnie put on the earrings and turned to Stefan. "What do you think?"
"I think you're the most beautiful bride in the world."
"Thank you," Bonnie said hugging him. She kissed his cheek. "Can you pass that on to Damon and tell him I'll meet him at the alter."
Stefan put his hands on either side of her face and smiled proudly down at her before he tilted her he and placed a kiss on top. "I am honored to do your bidding."
Bonnie laughed, "Thank you."
Stefan just gave her a wink and left.
"What did she say?" Damon said disregarding whatever Caroline was saying when Stefan walked through the door.
Stefan walked over and placed a wet kiss on his brother's cheek. "She wanted you to have that, and she said meet you at the alter," he smiled.
"She okay?" Caroline asked.
"Ugh-Yeah she's good," Stefan lied.
"What's wrong with her?" Damon asked looking at Caroline.
"She was fine when I was in there."
"Nothing is wrong, she said she was okay," Stefan shrugged.
"But you didn't believe her?" Damon asked.
"Not at first, but she is. Everything is fine Damon."
"I'm going to go talk to her," Damon said.
"Like hell you are. No seeing the bride before the wedding you guys have two months of honeymooning ahead of you, it can wait."
"What if something is wrong?"
"Damon you are marrying the woman you love, and she loves you more than you can imagine. I won't let anything ruin that. Not even you," Caroline said pocking him in the chest to illustrate her point.
"Fine," Damon said rubbing the sore spot on his chest.
Bonnie heard a knob jingling "Bonnie," someone called from the bathroom. "Bonnie," the said again banging on the door.
"Damon," Bonnie said sure it was his voice. "Damon is that you?" she asked placing her ear to the door.
"Yeah it's me," he said pressing his forehead to the door. He could feel her warmth on the other side. "I need to see you can you open the door?"
Bonnie laughed. She knew Caroline was out there going crazy looking for him and she was all about self-preservation at the moment. "You need to leave before Care finds you," Bonnie warned.
"I just need to see your eyes," he said. "After that I'll leave," he promised.
"Why do you need to see my eyes?" Bonnie asked.
"I need to ask you something and I need to make sure you don't lie," he said.
Bonnie took in a deep breath. She knew opening the door a crack would lead to something more and she didn't want to risk screwing up a marriage for seven minutes in heaven. She slide down to the floor. "Ask me what you want and I'll answer honestly," Bonnie said.
Damon set down and pressed his head against the door mirroring Bonnie on the other side. "Do you want to marry me?" he asked as his heart raced awaiting her response.
Bonnie's heart raced, she didn't know what he was thinking and it scared her. If he didn't want to get married anymore she'd die. "Of course I want to marry you. Do you still want to marry me?" she asked.
"With everything I am," he laughed. "Are you nervous?"
"A little, are you?"
"Yeah, I just don't want to make you look bad," he laughed.
"That face of yours makes up for everything," she said and they laughed together.
"Are you scared?" he asked.
"No are you?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm scared that you'll smarten up and change your mind."
"I'm not going anywhere. I guess I was a little scars that you were going to change your mind too," she admitted.
"You are the best thing that ever happened to me and the quicker I make you mine the better," he laughed.
"I love you Damon."
"I love you more Bonnie."
"Can you believe this is happening? We're getting married today, and soon we'll have a baby," she smiled.
"I know it sounds like some crazy soap opera," he laughed. "I'm so happy that we're having a baby. I never thought I'd be this happy about that."
"I wonder why?" she laughed.
"I wasn't that promiscuous," he chuckled.
"I've heard terrible stories about you Damon," she said.
"This face gets me a lot in this town."
"Are you sure you want to leave?" Bonnie asked. "I don't want you to do it just for me."
"We talked about this. I'm leaving because I deserve to be happy and our child deserves to have a normal life. I want that for him or her."
Bonnie rubbed her tiny baby bump. "I think it's a boy," she smiled. "I think he'll be just like me and look just like you."
Damon laughed. "I hope so."
"I'm so happy Damon, you make me so happy."
"I'm never going to stop." He thought about how trippy it was that they wound up together, "We're getting marry."
"Not if Caroline kills you for sneaking off," she said reminding him of why he came.
"Stefan said you seemed a little funny. I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
Bonnie's heart dropped. "I-Thank you."
"What's wrong?" Damon asked sensing something in her voice.
"I told Stefan it was nothing and it is. I'm fine Damon."
"I know, but if something little is bothering you, you can still tell me," he reassured her.
"I didn't plan it like this," she admitted. "When I was a little girl I didn't picture my wedding being like this. I didn't picture you."
"I'm sorry I'm not Matt," he said.
"Don't be. This is far greater than I could have ever imagined it. You are far greater than I could have imagined." Bonnie said correcting herself.
"But," Damon added for her.
"I miss my family a lot. I always pictured my dad giving me away and my mom and grams crying in the front row, and Lexi and Greta standing behind me, and Jaime giving some embarrassing toast. I still want that part," she admitted. "Sorry."
"Don't be its not your fault," he said feeling like an asshole. He had all his family and friends here to support him and Bonnie had no one. "We're going to get you home soon and we'll have the wedding you always dreamed about. Minus Matt," he laughed.
"I'd love that," she agreed.
"I'm so happy Bonnie."
"I am too. You should go. I'll tell Care I'm ready," she agreed.
"I love you babe."
"I love you more."
Hopefully Care doesn't kill Damon and their is a wedding, or two certain wedding guest behave themselves. I hope the fact that Teresa, Whitney, and Melissa weren't in this chapter didn't confuse you guys.
