Chapter 12
It's the day we were dreading and I go into surgery to get the tumors removed. I ended up in the hospital sooner than was scheduled when Sebastian found me passed out in the bathroom and he rushed me to the hospital. Apparently I had a seizure and it caused me to black out and I passed out from it. It scared him. I ended up missing school and he thinks it's best to withdrawal for now until I am cancer free and healthy again. He says it'll be better on me if I do. Luckily I have my inheritance to pay for all this. I hope at least. I'm not too sure.
My cousin Lizzie came from London to be with me. She was shocked to find I have a boyfriend and that I was so sick.
"Are you ready?" The nurse asks as she hooks a syringe to my I.V. and I nod. She pushes in the medicine to make me drowsy. Then a minute later they are taking me to the operating room. They tell me to count backwards as they give me the anesthesia and I fall asleep.
I wake and I'm in a dark room with a low beeping sound and I have an oxygen tube running under my nose blowing air into it. I have more tubes and wires on me than I did going into surgery. I feel a hand holding my left hand. I turn to see Sebastian looking at me with so much sadness and worry.
"How did it go?" I ask with a hoarse voice. He sighs and grips my hand.
"They found more behind the biggest one and they said all of them are cancerous tumors. You had five all together removed. The biggest one was their main concern since it was pressing against your skull. But the rest were small tumors and easy to remove. You most definitely have brain cancer." He says in sadness.
"I'm sorry." I say.
"Ciel it's not your fault you are sick." He says leaning closer to me.
"I know I just feel bad and like a burden." I say.
"I called your aunt and told her how bad it is and told your cousin. She's in the waiting room." He says.
"How long have I been out?" I ask.
"It took five hours for the surgery and you been asleep for almost a day. Your blood pressure dropped and it worried them. Your oxygen level is low too so they have you on oxygen." He says.
I look back at him and he looks exhausted. He's been so anxious lately over me and not sleeping well. He still been going to school. He quit his job to focus more on school and me. I feel bad but he says he get's an allowance from his father and it will take care of the bills. His father has been very compassionate towards our situation. He feels bad that Claude did what he did to me and Sebastian. He has helped us a lot in the past month. He and his wife have split up and are talking about divorce. Sebastian said he saw it coming long before what happen to me.
"How are you feeling?" He asks as he lightly traces my face with his fingertips.
"I'm okay. Just tired. My head doesn't hurt so much." I answer. He nods and stands up and leans to kiss me. He sits on the bed next to me. "I have been meaning to ask this for a while now but to afraid to ask. I was planning to do this in an elaborate way but I feel like it's the right time to ask." He says and I look at him confused.
"What?" I ask.
"Ciel Phantomhive, will you do me the greatest honor and marry me?" he asks and looks in my eyes and I gasp with surprise.
"What?" I ask in shock.
"Will you marry me? You don't have to answer right away and you can have a few days to think about it." He says as he places his hand on my cheek.
"Yes!" I answer in a low voice. He looks at me when I answer him. He smiles and leans to kiss me with passion.
"I love you so much and I am the happiest man on earth right now." He says as he pulls from me. "I want us to marry as soon as possible. I also wanted to marry you so I can better take care of you financially. I know you have money but you can't pay for all this by yourself and also when you marry me you automatically become an American citizen." He says as if to take off some of the stress of paying the medical bills and getting my citizenship since I am no longer attending school.
"When do you want to marry?" I ask.
"As soon as possible. I worry you will be deported for not being a full citizen." He answers. I nod in agreement and I don't ever plan to go back to England. "Rest my love. You need your sleep." He says and I nod and go to sleep.
