Smiling, Barry walked around the Avengers tower. After he had explained his past to both Phil and Steve, they had wanted to test his speed so he was given to S.H.I.E.L.D under Steve and Phil's supervision. Of course though, Barry exceeded every test thrown his way. Now, he had been officially allowed to join the Avengers, only until they manage to get him home that is.
As Barry walked into the kitchen, he was welcomed to the sight of Natasha, Steve, Clint and Tony all at the breakfast bar, eating away. Steve was the first person to notice him standing awkwardly by the entrance to the room. The blond stood up and walked towards Barry, bringing him into the mix. Natasha and Clint looked at the speedster curtly before diving back into their food, and Tony, well he's just Tony.
"Cap, you need to return this kid," Tony began, "You cannot kidnap random kids from the street. It might've been how things were from your time but this is the twenty-first century, you cannot just go and randomly select a kid"
Natasha spat her food out and Clint began choking on his as they laughed at Steve's annoyed face. Barry, however, smirked and looked down, remembering all the times he had been called 'babyface' back at C.C.P.D.
Steve cleared his throat after a moment, "This is Barry, he is joining the team"
Clint and Natasha turned to Steve in shock, whilst Tony just looked at Steve and Barry in disbelief. Tony was actually gaping at Steve, and Barry did find it quite amusing to see. The Scarlet Speedster blushed slightly as Tony continued to stare at him in shock.
"So you're the one who is the walking multiverse theory!" Tony exclaimed, wrapping his arm around the CSI's shoulders. Barry simply nodded as Steve just smiled playfully at him.
"Now, they tell me you're a CSI?" He questioned the CSI, slowly dragging him away from the group, "We have much to discuss then, young Padawan"
Natasha and Clint turned towards Steve. Natasha spoke up first, "Steve, what's the kid's backstory?"
Steve sighed and took his original seat back, not answering Nat's question. Clint shared a look with Nat before he kicked Steve in the shin, smirking as Steve winced.
"Did you really pick him up from the street?" Clint began to question Steve, "Does he come with a receipt so we can send him back if he's faulty?"
"A) I did not pick him up from the street. B) He's only staying here until he can find a way to get back home" Steve told the two assassins, beginning to eat his now cold food.
Elsewhere, as Tony continued to give Barry a tour of the building, they entered Bruce's lab. Barry smiled when he noticed it was in fact Banner and not his other half. During his training with S.H.I.E.L.D he had heard numerous stories of the rampaging beast from within the doctor.
"Banner, this man speaks our language," Tony began as he waltzed into the room and sitting on a random chair.
Bruce turned around and waved slightly at Barry, not wanting to scare him away. Barry flashed the doctor a light smile.
"So you're the person Cap just won't shut up about," Bruce joked, making Barry's smile widen, "I've heard a lot of good things from him about you"
The smile faltered on Barry's face. Steve shouldn't have to lie for him.
"So, Steve also mentioned that you're a scientist," Bruce began once more, "sounds like you and I will get a long swimmingly then"
