Ch 4: Opened Eye's
I woke up to a text from somebody, however it was a few minutes before my alarm went off so I'm debating if I want to get up or not. With a sigh I sit up and grab my black scroll and open the message
[Ruby] Hey! Good morning, I wanted to ask when a good time was for you? I don't have anything all day so whenever you want me to come over so you can shape my small brain just let me know :)
[Michael] Good morning. And I just have to get ready and go get some groceries and then I'll message ya. Probably and a few hours by the time all that's done. I'll let you know though so don't worry
[Ruby] Alright, just let me know!
I laughed at the bubbly girl's energy as I threw my scroll back onto its stand. I stand up and stretch my limbs, slowly as I make my way to the bathroom in order to brush my teeth to rid my mouth of the gross morning smell. After that I hopped in the shower and stayed a little longer than I probably should have. A half an hour later I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off. I look into the mirror, my hair is getting pretty damn long, reaching past my nose now "I should probably get a haircut" Ruby also has silver eyes, I wonder why it's such a rare eye color. I looked it up once and it said that those with silver eyes are so rare that people think it's just a myth. I mean when my uncle saw me with silver eyes he was shocked by it. Why uncle Sie was shocked is beyond me
I get dressed with normal blue jeans and a black T with a gray jacket over it. I look into my closet and see a black antique necklace with a silver wolf on it. It was my mothers… I haven't worn it even though she gave it to me in her will. What this necklace's importance is I don't know, but apparently important enough to be in the will. I put it on and walk out of the apartment building and to the garage that holds my beautiful Crescent Eclipse. I threw my helmet and grocery bag holder onto the back of the bike. It's just a big black leather holder that can be attached to the back of the bike. Once it was attached to the bike I hopped on and started to drive. I read a little bit more of that book before going to bed. Apparently to that guy there are three kinds of vampires. The weak ones, which are referred to as Succubus, the second being normal Vampires, and the third being those of legend. They are the fastest, strongest, have the best hearing, and have a unique ability that allows them to turn into a bat. But they still have the normal weakness of being killed by the sun. Although I don't know if any of this is true… I mean it's just a book I found in a study room so I don't see any reason to believe it. But right now it's the only source of explanation I have for what happened to Coco
I reached the store and quickly grabbed a cart to get in and out quickly. I'm not much of a shopper. I tend to try and get in and then out as fast as possible. I turned into the pasta Isle and saw a girl with long white hair that was curled in a styled say. It reached to her upper back as she wore a white Blazer that hugged her figure well with white heels, However, even with the heels the girl was short. She looks like she's 4'10 or at most 5 feet even. Though with the heel's she's about 5 to 5'3, assuming the heels are 3 inch heels. Being distracted in looking at her I almost passed the pasta, though I regained my mind and grabbed two cans of pasta sauce, along with one box of pasta noodles. I turned back around and the white haired girl seemed to be waiting for me
"Oh sorry" I said as I started to move out of the way
"No it's-" She stopped as she tripped and started to fall. I moved quickly and caught the girl before she fell "Fuck!" she screamed as she fell
"Hey I got you, are you okay?" I asked. The girl looked up at me, being so close our faces were only a few inches away from each other. She stood up and backed away quickly and fixed her blazer
"I-I'm okay thank you" She moved to her hair after she fixed her dress, propping it up. Her eyes are so blue, and she has a scar on her left eye "You have quite the reflexes, thank you…"
"Oh sorry, Michael, Michael Vahill. What's your name?" I asked. She laughed and walked past me to grab pasta sauce
"As if you don't know my name, I'm not looking to talk to someone who pretends not to know me" She said grabbing a box of pasta as well
"Wait, I saw you with Ruby, so do you know her?" I asked, trying to ignore the fact that she was very rude to me
"Uhm, yes, Ruby is a dear friend to me… Wait, do you really not know my name?" The woman asked
"Well I heard it before when you yelled at Ruby when she grabbed your hand and started dragging you, but I don't remember. And if Ruby's friends with you then you have to be a nice person. So I'd like to know your name" I asked again
"It's Weiss" She said bluntly, though her face seemed to get red
"No last name? Ah that's fine if you don't want to tell me. Only really care about people's first name. Last names generally lump them into their family rather than them as an individual" I said. I do believe that, for me it doesn't really mean anything since my family hasn't really done anything special. But for most when people hear a last name they judge the person by their family members and based on what they've done. Not really on the individual
"Oh, uhm okay" She said. She moved her hair behind her right ear, which I'm assuming is a nervous tick
"Sorry if it made things awkward" I said as I scratched the back of my neck
"No no, you didn't make things awkward… Just everyone doesn't think that way, so it was surprising to hear. But in a good way" She said with a smile
"So why are you so short?" I asked, the girl immediately went from a smile to an annoyed look "Sorry! It's just… are you even 5 feet?"
"Yes actually! 5'3 thank you very much" She said as she turned around and put her items into her shopping cart
"With or without heels?" I asked with a smirk. Weiss turned around and punched my shoulder, though it wasn't hard
"With them off!" She said and crossed her arms. I just gave her a look and she sighed "Without the heels I'm 5 feet tall" I laughed at her defeated tone "Oh fuck you mister 6 feet"
"Hey that's the perfect height for a guy" I defended. She just gave me a look and a blush "Alright well it was nice meeting you. I have to hurry up though because I'm tutoring Ruby today"
"But the study rooms are closed on off days? You guys going to a library or something" She asked as she got ready to go off in a different direction
"Nah, my house. Anyways see you later Weiss" I said. The girl seemed to shift at the new information, but recovered
"Oh, well, teach her well, god knows she needs it when it comes to history" She said "Alright, Nice meeting you as well Mr. Vahill"
"Nope, call me Michael, no formal shit, it always makes me feel weird" I said cringing at the formality
"Oh, okay then, nice meeting you Mr. Michael" She said with an attempt at a smile
"Alright we'll work on it. See ya" She waved, though with a pout. Well that was something, she's a very interesting person. I finish my shopping and shoot Ruby a message
[Michael] Hey Ruby, you can come over in about 10 minutes
[Ruby] Alright! I'm at my house so it might take a little longer than that. See you when I get there:)
I smile at the message before putting my scroll into my pocket and getting onto my bike after I put the groceries into the container on the back. It wasn't a long drive so I was there pretty fast. I hop off the bike after parking it in my garage, quickly grabbing the groceries and heading up to my apartment. When I got to my floor Ruby was standing outside of my door
"Oh hey, I got here faster than I thought I could" Ruby said. She clasped her hands together and started rotating her thumbs around each other. A very unique tick if you ask me. She's wearing something that she generally doesn't wear at school. She has black jeans on with black boots that ended half way up her knee. And a simple loose red T with her classic hoodie
"No it's fine, but it's only been like six minutes… how did you get here so fast if you were at your house?" I asked while walking up to my door to unlock it
"Oh uhm, I guess I've gotten faster recently because a few weeks ago that's how long it would have taken me to run here" She said with a shrug, thumbs still rotating around another. The door unlocks and I walk into the apartment while Ruby stays outside
"So you've gotten fast enough in a few weeks to make a normally more than ten minute run into a six minute run? Actually shorter than that since you were waiting here already? That's… Why aren't you coming in?" I asked. She stood out there standing on her tippy toes
"Oh right" She said as she quickly walked in "Sorry, my dad always told me to wait and be invited in, sorry" She says sorry a lot
"Alright well I'm gonna make some pasta, I hope you like beef" I said as I put all the groceries away before putting a pot with water on the dust powered stove
"It's my second favorite thing to hunt" She said as she sat down
"Oh you hunt? What kind of gun do you use?" I asked. I used to really be into guns, but not all too much recently. Though Ruby jumped at the question
"Oh nothing really that grand… it's an old traditional weapon on my moms side" She said taking her hood down, revealing her Faunus wolf ears. I nodded and brought out the meat and seasonings "What kind of seasoning are you using?"
"Northern Menagerie Cajun, I hope you like spice. Though if you don't I won't use it" I said as I held up the black seasoning container. Though her big smile tells me that she's okay with it. Her long hair fell over her right eye. Her eyes are so captivating, they're like mirrors
"Michael?" I blinked and saw that she was blushing. I guess I was staring
"Oh sorry, uhm I'll take that as a yes… So I met Weiss today at the story" I said seasoning the meat
"Oh really? She can be a bit much, I'm sorry for her behavior" Ruby said clasping her hands together in front of her
"Ah no she was fine. I mean she was actually pretty nice, though in a bit of a weird way if you ask me. But no she was pretty cool, I can see us being friends, like you and I" I said as I walked over to her and opened a book. Ruby smiled at what I said, but went into a frown when she saw the book
"Ugh, can we eat first? Get my brain fed" She sighed and laid her head onto the kitchen counter
"Yes, I was just reviewing it to see if this is a topic that will be on the test" I said looking through the paper. Ruby moved her hand to my necklace
"What's this? You weren't wearing it yesterday" She asked as she sniffed the air, a little weird but not too weird
"It was my mothers. It reminded me of her too much, but I think I'm ready. She left to me in her will, though I have no idea on why she would want to leave me a necklace" Ruby moved closer and smelled it "Uh?"
"Is that Sahcri? It's an herb that's rarely used anymore" She said as she let it go and back up a bit from it. I grabbed it and smelled it, it does have a smell to it, though I've never smelled Sahcri. It smells like pepper and blueberries? A very odd mixture of smells
"Huh, I'm surprised you could smell that… I basically needed to bring it right up to my nose"
"I've always had a good sense of smell" She said with a smile. I walked back over and mixed the meat again
"Alright the meats done, just a bit longer for the noodles" I said, stirring the noodles
"Hey can I ask you something?" Ruby asked. I just walked over to her and nodded "Why do you hide it?"
"Hide what?" She laughed and rolled her eyes
"Your Faunus trait, duh" She said
"I don't have a Faunus trait, my mother and father were, and are human" I said with a questioning look "Why would you think I have a Faunus trait?" I asked. She gave me a very confused look before shaking her head
"Oh, it's just you were so friendly that I thought you were a Faunus, generally humans can be… A little harsh" I cringed at her words. I've seen the Faunus be discriminated against before, its sad
"Yeah well let's not delve into societal issues alright. Foods done, let's eat" Right as I was about to turn around Ruby's Faunus ears shifted to my door "Everything Okay-" all of a sudden Coco was behind Ruby. She grabbed the back of her neck and threw her so hard to the wall behind her I could hear a snap "RUBY!" I ran around the counter but Coco grabbed my neck
"My god, do you know how much I hate being told what to do? If I could make my own decision I'd be in Argus right now, and have three men around me doing whatever I want. But apparently you're special" She said as she threw me against a wall "But damn I wish I could have my way with you just for a day or two, I mean those eyes are just gorgeous" She ran a finger up my chest and touched my necklace "AGH!" She screamed and dropped me to the floor as she backed away holding her hand, which was burning. I gasped for air as her hand burned "You fucker, Now you have Sahcri on you? Now I have to take you with me by force"
"Stay away from me" I said, throwing my hands up in an offensive manner. She stopped and just laughed
"Oh please, I've been a succubus for 300 years little man, your punches won't even affect me. But among your kind, strength varys so who knows" She said. I ran forward and punched her in the face. I guess she didn't expect anything because she didn't move, but after the punch she fell to the ground and hit the table hard "Agh! What the hell? How do you have that much strength?" She stood up in almost a blur. I went for another swing, but she grabbed it with her hand easily and bent it to the side, snapping my forearm
"AGH!" She let me go and I fell to the ground. In the corner of the living room I heard something I didn't think I would… growling? I turned to Ruby and she was on all fours
"Ahh! Grrrah!" She growled, I could hear her bones snap, then in almost an instant she grew in size and became the wolf from the beginning of the week
"Oh little pup you think you can take me? You're only as strong as a 250 year old succubus, so you don't really have the strength or ability to… you have silver eyes as well" All of a sudden Coco had fear written all over her face "Two in one town? How?" In a second Ruby ran and jumped on the counter and then jumped onto Coco, biting her neck. Though Coco punched her in the side hard enough to throw Ruby into the lower cabinets. Ruby stood up quickly and growled, blood from Coco staining her black coat. I stood up and ran into the living room snapping the leg off my coffee table, making the wood have a sharp point
The most known, or rather the most shared method of killing a vampire is stalking them in the heart, but it has to be wood, otherwise it won't have any effect
Ruby came flying over the counter and crashed into my couch. She recovered, though my couch was killed by her massive claws. Coco came running in and tackled Ruby, grabbing her by the throat. I ran up behind her to stake her but Ruby Barked and kicked me away with one of her hind legs
"Now why would you protect me from being- Oh I see… you don't want him to turn, well I'm sorry but he won't be a werewolf, my master wants him to be a vampire. Apparently this is the first time in history, at least for him that a silver eyed werewolf has had the gene to become a vampire. And he's been around for a very very long time pup" She leaned to Ruby's ear and whispered "And I'll have so much fun with him when he turns, being a vampire enhances every feeling, and you can turn any off. An ability I wish I had, however that's exclusive to vampires. But enough about that, you need to die. If I remember correctly it's the heart or head right? Oh and lost of blood"
She grew Fangs and went to bite Ruby's neck, However, Ruby turned the tables and Pinned her down and quickly bit her neck and ripped at it, spraying blood everywhere on her and the surrounding area. Ruby grabbed Coco's head with her maw and ripped it off and tossed it into the wall, more blood getting all over my apartment. She turned around and looked at me. The black with red tipped ears and tail now had red from its bottom jaw, all the way down it's chest and front legs. Ruby started to wince with a growl as she started to shrink. I watched as the hair started to disappear and was replaced with her skin. When she was back to her normal self she had a very angry look on her face, while blood covered her mouth and breasts and her normally straight long hair an untamed mess
I stood up and ran to her "Hey Ruby are you okay?" I asked
"Yeah, just get me something to cover up" She said, with a tone that's far from her usual bubbly nature. She seemed agitated. And then I looked down and realized she was completely naked in my apartment. I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks. I looked away immediately and rushed to my room and grabbed my gray jacket from the other day. I ran back into the living room and draped it over her
"If you want to take a shower you can-"
"Just shut the fuck up and be quiet!" She bursted "Give me a minute to calm down before you talk" I did as she said and sat on the floor next to her, as my couch was completely ripped to pieces and thrown across the room. After about half an hour later she took a deep breath "Can I still use your shower? Please?"
"Yeah go ahead… use a towel on the metal hanger, it's a clean one. Do you want me to make you something for when you get out?" I asked as I stood up with her
"Tea, with honey if you have it please" I nodded, not wanting to piss her off again. She walked into my room and closed the door. I walked to the kitchen and started the kettle before heading into my room and getting a plain black T, before I remembered that my sister left her shorts over here one time she stayed… that was a long time ago. I grabbed the shirt and shorts, which are short shorts and knocked on the door before speaking
"Hey Ruby, I left some clothes for you on my end table closest to the bathroom for when you get out" She didn't respond, but after what I just saw I'm assuming she heard me. I left the room and finished fixing the drinks just as Ruby came walking out of the room. She smiled and walked up to the counter and sat on one of the stools. It's weird to see a girl use my shirt
"Sorry, for snapping earlier… it takes anger to change, so after I get out of it I need to calm myself down, which takes time usually" She said taking a sip of her tea "Thank you for the tea"
"Yeah no problem… Okay so I want to know, what was Coco? She said she was a succubus, but what is that?" I asked
"Okay I can see that this will take a while to explain, but I'm not super well versed in vampires or witches, I'm versed with werewolves and Lycan's, obviously. But later today I can take you to my house and you can ask my dad about everything else, or Yang if she's home, she's a Hunter" Ruby said, I wanted to ask her about Hunters, but she just said only werewolves
"How can you turn into a werewolf?" I asked
"Okay, well my mother was a werewolf, which if a person has silver eyes, it means they're a werewolf, it's a werewolf specific trait. And from what I remember there were three families to have it. The Rose family, Calavera family, and the Vahill family. However werewolves are everywhere, well not really, just in comparison to silver eyed werewolves. Silver eyed werewolves are special, we can use it at will while others can only use it during the full moon. Also we gain complete control of the form, though we can still get lost in rage if we transform without the right state of mind. In order to unlock the ability, you need to kill a supernatural being, witch is why I stopped you from killing Coco" Ruby said
"So you don't want me to turn? Also if I'm a werewolf too, then why did you smell the Sahcri but I couldn't?" I asked her
"Well for one, before you get the curse, you are stronger than a normal human, faster, better hearing. However, the smell and taste are the same. But once activated your strength, speed, and your hearing gets quadrupled while your sense of smell is about twenty times better than a normal human. And after transforming all that get's quadrupled again. While for most it's a curse, for silver eyed werewolves it's not a curse, more so a gift, since we have a natural master of it. Now before I answer anymore, I should really take you to my house so you can get more answers than what I can give you, But I'm gonna warn you, it's an info dump" She said, finishing her tea
"Wait one more thing, how did the blood disappear from my couch the night I helped you? And my friend's car?" I asked. She sighed as she stood up from the stool and made her way to the door, with me close behind her
"Any supernatural being, except for witches, their blood evaporates. I don't know why, but pretty much after about three or four hours it will dissipate. Alright you want to go now? We can always wait till tomorrow" I looked behind me and it looked like a serial killer ran through her
"No, I'm free now if you are" With that I locked the door and we hopped onto Crescent Eclipse and headed to Ruby's cabin, which just happened to be the same cabin I was brought to the one time
Author's EndNote: A bit of foreshadowing for the next chapter, and yes it finally happened. Michael now knows he's a werewolf! Well, he's not one technically, but carries the gene. Anyways Review and let me know what you guy's think alright. It really helps me make the story better
