Sari laughed as she rode on the back of a giant dog made of a blue, magical light. Her hands glowed the same color indicating that she was casting it to carry her all around Mystacor. She made her dog jump an incredible distance before landing right at the front of the school where her mother, Castaspella, waited. When Sari jumped off her projection, she dimmed her hands and the dog disappeared.
"What do you think, Mom?" Sari asked. "Cool or what?"
Castaspella chuckled. "Well, that was certainly surprising. I didn't think you'd create a projection that well at your age. I'm almost worried about what you'd be able to do during the Moons of Enchantment aligning."
Sari looked up to see the three different-colored moons nearly getting into a straight line. "Oh, right. That's when all the magic in Etheria is stronger. Honestly, I'm just excited. Thanks for letting me learn magic. You're the best mom ever."
Castaspella smiled at that compliment. Then, she looked out into the distance. Her expression changed to joy seeing her niece and her friends arriving. Glimmer, Arcee, Adora, Hot Rod, Bow, and Bumblebee walked across the courtyard toward them.
"Oh! Looks like Glimmer and her friends are giving us a surprise visit!" Castaspella said. "You go welcome them, dear. I'll spruce the place up." She ran back into the school.
Sari shrugged before meeting the Autobots halfway across the courtyard. "Hey, guys! Glimmer, how's my favorite cousin?"
Glimmer barely answered. She just chuckled softly and nervously. "Hey, Sari. Um… Can we talk?"
"Is this about Fixit?" Sari asked. "Believe it or not, he's doing really well. By the look on his face, I can tell he's having the best vacation he's ever had."
"This… This isn't about Fixit." Bow said nervously. "Although, it is good to hear how he's doing."
Sari raised an eyebrow. "Then what's this about?"
Hot Rod scratched the back of his head. "So… You know how we've been looking for pieces of a Golden Disk to uncover a big secret?"
"Yeah." Sari replied. "Why? Is there a piece here in Mystacor?"
"Maybe." Arcee said. "But first… We've got some questions for you."
"Me?" Sari said. "I don't understand."
Glimmer looked to Adora, who shook her head. "Come on, Glimmer. She's your cousin."
Glimmer sighed before coming clean. "Sari… Are you… a Cybertronian?"
Sari paused for a moment. She had a blank stare on her face the entire minute. After a very short while, she burst out laughing. She fell to her knees pounding the ground below her.
"OH, THAT'S RICH!" Sari laughed hysterically. "THAT IS PRICELESS! I'm an alien robot from the other side of the universe?" Sari kept laughing, but stopped when se saw that no one else shared her laughter. "Wait. You're serious? You actually think I'm Cybertronian?"
"That's what the Autobot pod computers said." Adora said. "Apparently, you're the guardian of the last Golden Disk piece."
"This has to be a mistake." Sari said. "I'm Etherian, born and raised. I've lived in Mystacor my whole life, and I've never seen a Golden Disk piece anywhere around here."
Bumblebee buzzed.
"Good point, Bee." Bow said. "Sari, where's your mom?"
"She's inside doing some last minute cleaning for you guys." Sari said. "Look, she'll set the record straight."
"I hope so." Glimmer said nervously.
At the Fright Zone, Catra was perched on top of a balcony railing. Starscream approached her from the door behind her.
"Credit for your thoughts?" Starscream asked.
"Nothing." Catra said brooding.
Starscream sighed. "Worst credit I've ever spent."
To add to Catra's annoyed state, Scorpia joined her and Starscream on the balcony. "Hey, Catra."
Catra sighed. "Why am I being ganged up on today?"
"Seriously, what's wrong?" Starscream asked. "Something's clearly bothering you."
Catra growled silently before deciding to confess. "Hordak wants me to send Shadow Weaver to Beast Island."
"Wait. Beast Island's real?!" Scorpia gasped. "I thought that was just a story our superior officers told to keep us in line."
"What's Beast Island?" Starscream asked.
"It's the worst place to send an enemy of the Horde." Catra said. "It's full of monsters and wild plants and anything else that could harm you. It's basically a death sentence. Shadow Weaver won't last a day."
"About time." Starscream said. "That witch has been doing nothing but gather dust in that cell of hers for the past few months."
"Hordak's given me two days to get anything useful out of her before I have to send her away." Catra said.
"What?" Starscream asked. "That's a terrible idea. Shadow Weaver's too dangerous to be left to chance. It's best to deal with her now."
"No." Catra said. "She's still useful to us. She has information that we may need."
"Does she though?" Scorpia asked. "Like Starscream said, she hasn't done anything but sit in her cell. I thought you'd want her gone."
"For once, I agree with her." Starscream said. "After the way she's treated you, I'd think you'd be the first to want Shadow Weaver gone."
Catra lowered her head. "You wouldn't understand."
Starscream sighed. "Fine. But until she's gone, I'll be accompanying you when you visit her. If she does share any information, I want to be the first to hear it alongside you."
"Fine." Catra replied.
Castaspella used magic to levitate the cleaning supplies. With twenty chores done at once, the room was spiffed up in only three minutes.
"That oughta do it." Castaspella said. She turned her head right when the door opened. Sari lead her friends into the room. "Oh. Hello, everyone. Glimmer, what brings you and your friends here?"
"Well… It's kinda… hard to ask." Glimmer replied scratching the back of her head.
"Mom, you're really going to love this." Sari said. "Apparently, these guys say that… I'm an alien." She laughed while her mother widened her eyes.
"R-Really?" Castaspella asked.
"Castaspella," Adora said, "Something strange is going on, and it looks like Sari is involved somehow. If you know anything, you've got to let us know."
"Or, at least to me, assure that I'm not an alien." Sari said.
Castaspella frowned falling silent. This concerned the audience, especially Sari who stopped laughing.
"Mom. Just say that I'm not an alien."
…"I can't." Castaspella admitted.
Sari gasped a silent breath. "What?"
"I can't admit that… because it's true" Castaspella admitted. "I'm sorry, dear. I didn't want you to find out this way."
Sari took a step back nearly falling into disbelief. Her eyes shook. "No. What are you saying?"
Castaspella frowned harder and walked into the hallway. "Everyone, follow me."
The Autobots followed Castaspella down the halls through the halls of past great wizards. Along the way, Adora focused her eyes on the darkened, rotting statue of Light Spinner, or as she knows her as, Shadow Weaver. Glimmer also locked her eyes on the statue of her father, the late King Micah.
They stopped when they approached a large doorway. It opened and Castaspella lead everyone in. They all looked around the white, shining room with flowers decorating the shelves and blue, starry curtains on the walls.
"Your office?" Sari asked. "I don't understand."
Castaspella didn't say anything. She went to the nearest desk and reached her hand behind it. She shifted it around until she got ahold of something. And what she pulled out was identical to what the Autobots have been searching for the past few weeks.
"The last piece." Bow gasped.
"You've had the last Golden Disk piece this entire time and you never told us?" Arcee asked.
"I was scared." Castaspella explained. "I was worried that if I gave this to you, you'd ask me where I got it and my secret would be…"
"Where did you get it?" Sari asked interrupting her mother.
Castaspella's face shook before she lowered her head and took a seat. "It's a bit of a long story."
"We've got time." Hot Rod said. "Just… Tell us."
"All right. Twelve years ago, it was just a normal day in Mystacor. But suddenly, Shadow Weaver arrived with a brand new power. It was clear to us that she had created a connection with the Black Garnet that the Horde had. She tore through most of our sorcerers claiming she had come to finish what she had started. I knew I wasn't strong enough to fight her, but I still tailed her all the way to where her office once was. Once she made it there, she opened some kind of secret door that concealed a big, metal machine shaped like an egg."
"A pod." Arcee said.
"Shadow Weaver casted a powerful spell that shot red lightning from her fingers and covered the entire machine. She managed to get it opened, and when it did, I figured it was my chance to get her by surprise. I blasted her while her back was turned, but that just made her angry. She attempted to blast me back, but I shot her again which redirected her blast right into the pod. Shadow Weaver got angry assuming that whatever was in the machine was destroyed. She was going to kill me then, but she sensed that more sorcerers were on their way, so instead, she flew out of the office and into the hallway.
"While the sorcerers were chasing her, I turned to investigate the machine she came to open. I saw two things in there that clearly weren't destroyed. One was this golden thing. And the other was some kind of metal baby that… slowly transformed into a baby girl. I figured the Council of Elders would see you as some kind of threat created by Shadow Weaver to be used against us, but I knew better. So I sneaked you out of Mystacor, told the Council I was leaving to recover, and a few months later, I returned claiming the baby girl was my own. Everyone believed it and I've been raising you as my own ever since."
Sari's legs shook. She stumbled backwards landing down on a chair taking a heavy breath. "No. No, this can't be true. So what? What am I to you?"
"You're my daughter." Castaspella said.
"AM I?!" Sari yelled out nearly breaking out into tears. "IF SHADOW WEAVER WAS THE ONE WHO CASTED THAT SPELL, SHOULDN'T THAT MAKE HER MY MOTHER! OR WHAT ABOUT WHATEVER ALIEN MACHINE WAS USED TO MAKE ME!"
"Sari, please…" Castaspella pleaded.
Sari didn't listen though. She broke out into tears and ran right out the door. Castaspella stood trying to reach out to her, but she was already out of sight.
"SARI!" Castaspella yelled out.
"We'll find her, Aunt Cass." Glimmer said.
"We'll get this sorted out." Adora said. "Can't believe Shadow Weaver's involved like this. It's like everything she touches gets ruined."
The next thing that Shadow Weaver touched was her cell wall as she carved a tally mark on it with her clawed fingers. Catra saw it as she entered the cell and scoffed. Starscream stood outside behind her.
"Pack your bags." Catra mocked. "You're heading to Beast Island. Wait, I forgot. You don't have anything."
Shadow Weaver gently turned her head to Catra. "When?"
"Don't you care?" Catra asked. "It's a death sentence. What don't you get about that?"
"I think she understands plenty, Catra." Starscream said. "She's probably been expecting this for a while."
"It was only a matter of time before Hordak decided it's a waste to keep me around." Shadow Weaver said. "That's just how he is."
"Well, you can still make up for it." Catra said. "You're a goner unless you can give us a reason good enough to convince Hordak and Megatron you're worth keeping around. Don't you have anything to say?"
"I have given everything I have to the Horde." Shadow Weaver said. "And what did that get me? I was shown to be obsolete replaced not just by you, Catra, but your alien robot scum as well."
"You know, you've been on our case ever since we set foot on this planet." Starscream said. "Seems more like you're more disgusted than distrusting of Cybertronians."
"I guess you can call it experience with disappointment." Shadow Weaver said. "Let's just say that years of curiosity with a certain item left me feeling like it was a pointless endeavor and a waste of time to pursue."
Catra sneered angrily. "You really are useless. You are getting what you deserve." She turned to leave when Shadow Weaver said something to stop her.
"Wait. Take pity on an old, powerless woman. I know my days here are numbered. I want to see my old Sorcerer's Guild badge one last time. It must be among my things. Bring it to me. It's the last thing I will ever ask of you."
Starscream scoffed. "You got that right. It doesn't mean we're going through with it." He closed the cell door behind Catra and guided her away.
"Are you sure about this?" Catra asked feeling uneasy.
"Catra, Shadow Weaver's obviously setting you up." Starscream said. "The fact that she started it off by admitting she was old and powerless is an obvious sign itself. I don't know what she wants with her old badge, but it's obviously part of a ploy. You're better off ignoring it."
Catra turned her head softly to Shadow Weaver's cell once more before heading out.
The Autobots and the sorcerers combed around Mystacor calling out Sari's name. However, they weren't checking by the steam grotto, which is where Fixit was exiting with a shiny surface.
"Mmm. That hit the spot." Fixit said. "Who knew a few weeks here is exactly what I ne-ne-ne…" SMACK! "Need." He stopped when he saw Sari. She was sitting on a log with her eyes nearly tearing up and her head hanging really low. "Sari? Is everything all right?"
"No." Sari choked up. "Nothing's all right. My mom… Castaspella lied to me. My entire life."
Fixit fell silent for a second before approaching next to her. "I… I'm sorry to hear that. Anything I can do to help?"
"I don't know." Sari asked. "What could possibly make up for an entire lifetime of lies?" A tear escaped from her eye making her more miserable. "How can I possibly get over this?"
Fixit didn't know what to say. He just said whatever came into his head. "Um… There, there. I'm… sure things will work out eventually."
"Work out?" Sari asked getting a new expression. She stood up straight on her feet and her sad face became upset. "Work out?! No! This isn't something one can just 'work out'!" Along with her tears, Fixit noticed a blue flicker escape from Sari's eyes.
"Uh, Sari, you might want to keep calm?"
"Calm? Why should I have to be calm? I have the right to BE UPSET!"
Sari bellowed out an angry echo from her mouth just as her eyes were completely covered by a blue glow. That's when her feet stopped touching the ground and she hovered into the air. She let out a deafening roar just as her hands glowed blue and a pillar of blue light encompassed around her. Strong gales of wind were just strong enough to send Fixit flying across Mystacor.
The winds started to build up at the center of town where the Autobots met up. That's when Fixit screamed and yelled being thrown backward. Thankfully, he was caught by Hot Rod.
"Fixit, what happened?" Adora asked as her partner let the Minicon on the ground.
"Well," Fixit said nervously, "Sari was feeling bad about something! I tried to comfort her, but she got really angry and…"
That's when the blue pillar became visible as it hit the sky. The Autobots and Castaspella followed it to where Fixit found Sari. They widened their eyes seeing Sari in the middle of the blue pillar with her eyes glowing like she was possessed.
"What's going on?" Glimmer asked. "There's no way she can be this powerful!"
Castaspella gasped looking up into the sky. Her eyes were fixed on the three moons beginning to align in the sky. "The moons' alignment! It gives any sorcerer a stronger connection to magic! Sari's natural talent for magic must be getting chaotic by her anger! This is all my fault!"
"Don't worry about that right now!" Arcee said. She turned noticing the winds getting stronger, strong enough to make cracks at the buildings. "Sari's outburst is going to put Mystacor in danger! Bow, Bumblebee, Adora, Rod, get the civilians to safety! Minimize the damage as best as you can!"
Bumblebee buzzed before changing into his vehicle mode. Bow hopped in and rode out.
"FOR THE HONOR OF GRAYSKULL!"
Adora changed just as Hot Rod did. And like Bow and Bumblebee, they drove to the village.
"We've got to get Sari to calm down!" Glimmer shouted. "It's the only way to stop this!"
"Think you can get in there and talk to her?" Arcee asked.
"Maybe, except I don't even know what to say!" Glimmer replied.
"You don't have to!" Castaspella said. "Glimmer, teleport me in there!"
"Aunt Cass, you're probably the last person Sari wants to talk to right now!"
"Maybe, but I'm the one person she needs to talk to!"
Glimmer hesitated for a moment, but then accepted her aunt's answer. She grabbed ahold of her and teleported. They reappeared right in the middle of the pillar which turned out to be much bigger on the inside. Castaspella separated from Glimmer to approach Sari, who's eyes and hands were glowing blue with lightning-like dispersions shooting out. Castaspella kept looking seeing how sad Sari really was.
"SARI!" she cried out. "SARI, PLEASE! TALK TO ME!"
"WHY?!" Sari shouted in a menacing echo. "SO YOU CAN LIE TO ME AGAIN! THAT'S ALL YOU'VE BEEN DOING MY WHOLE LIFE! YOU LIED ABOUT WHO I AM, ABOUT WHAT I AM!"
"YES, I DID!" Castaspella said taking a foot closer to where she was hovering. "I NEVER TOLD YOU WHERE YOU REALLY CAME FROM! I REMEMBER EVERY OPPORTUNITY WHEN I SHOULD'VE TOLD YOU, BUT I DIDN'T!"
"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU?!" Sari asked.
"BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID!" Castaspella confessed with tears beginning to form in her eyes. "I WAS SCARED OF WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN AFTER I TOLD YOU! I WAS SCARED OF A LOT OF THINGS THAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED, BUT THE ONE THING I WAS SCARED OF MOST OF ALL WAS THAT I WOULD LOSE YOU! I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN YOUR REAL MOTHER, BUT YOU WERE ALWAYS MY REAL DAUGHTER!"
As soon as she said that, Sari's expression started to widen. She slowly began to lower herself and the spell looked like it was getting weaker. Castaspella continued her walk towards her facing off against the strong winds.
"BEING YOUR MOTHER IS THE ONLY THING I WANT TO BE!" Castaspella said with each step closer to her daughter. "I'M SORRY I DIDN'T DO A GOOD ENOUGH JOB! BUT I PROMISE YOU, I WON'T FAIL YOU AGAIN!"
The closer Castaspella got, the lower Sari was to the ground and the weaker the magic became. Soon, Castaspella was close enough to wrap her arms around Sari and hold her close. It was then that Sari's magic completely faded and all that was left was her face was left letting out strong tears as she hugged Castaspella back. The winds completely died down on Mystacor that moment.
"I love you, Sari."
"I love you too, Mom."
Back at Shadow Weaver's cell, Catra and Starscream came on over to deliver a tray of gruel to the powered-down sorceress.
"So, have you come up with anything to save your skin?" Catra asked.
"You know I haven't." Shadow Weaver said.
"Figures." Starscream said.
"Catra, why do you insist on delivering my meals yourself?" Shadow Weaver asked. "Surely, you have more important things to do."
"I guess I like seeing you in shackles." Catra smirked.
"Even you know that's not the only reason." Shadow Weaver said. "What do you want from me?"
"She's still looking for an excuse to keep you around." Starscream admitted.
"Starscream!" Catra hissed.
"You know I'm right!" Starscream argued. "You've been fighting to keep her here even though she's of no importance to us and she has been treating you poorly your entire life! If anything, I figured you'd throw her on the boat to Beast Island yourself!"
"That's what I figured too." Shadow Weaver said. "So why do you still want me here?"
Catra stared at Shadow Weaver trying to work up the words in her mind. "Why… Why did you treat me the way you did? Why was I never good enough? Really, I want to know."
"Because you remind me of myself. You always have." Shadow Weaver admitted. "Nothing was ever easy for me either. I wasn't born to power like Adora and others. I had to earn my power. Fight for it. Why should it be any different for you?"
"I was a child when you took me in!" Catra replied. "What could I possibly have done to deserve the way you treated me? I am nothing like you! You are old and bitter and weak!"
"But you are like me. Same as you, Starscream."
"Me? How am I anything like you?"
"There's a reason you decided to tag along with Catra, and I think I know why. She reminds you of you just like she reminds me of me. And just like me, the both of you are losing your position with your respective leaders, Hordak and Megatron. I can see that even from my cell."
"You don't know what you're talking about." Catra argued.
"You're being pushed out." Shadow Weaver said. "And Starscream, you seem to be scared whenever Catra makes a mistake. Why is that, I wonder?"
"Hey! I am not scared of anything!" Starscream denied.
"And I'm not being pushed out!" Catra added. "It's just Entrapta understands all that tech stuff!"
Shadow Weaver calmed Catra down by reaching her hand out and brushing her hand on her mane. "Sounds to me like Entrapta earned Hordak's trust. Isn't it that clear? I want you go further than I did, but you need to be smarter than me. Stronger than me."
"Then help me." Catra said. "Come up with something so you can stay."
"I will try." Shadow Weaver said. "As a matter of fact, there may be something."
Catra's eyes lit up. "What?"
"Remember earlier when I said I faced disappointment before?" Shadow Weaver asked. "Well, that's because of a strange machine I found."
"Strange machine?" Starscream asked.
"Years ago, before I joined the Horde, I came across a large, strange device during my travels. It appeared to be a container of some kind. I was naturally curious about what was inside, so I brought it to Mystacor with me for private study. But no matter how powerful I casted my spells, nothing I did could unlock it. Then, I left Mystacor and joined the Horde."
"Why?" Catra asked.
"That's not the important part." Shadow Weaver replied. "The point is, soon after I joined and provided assistance to Hordak, he awarded me with the Black Garnet. I forced a connection with it and felt more power than I could ever imagine. Then, a thought occurred to me. 'Maybe now, I'm strong enough to force that machine open'. So I forced my way back into Mystacor to find that machine. There was some resistance, but I managed to unlock it. But whatever was inside might have been destroyed."
"Might have?" Catra asked.
"I can't say for certain because the Sorcerer's Guild was closing in. I escaped and didn't go back for it. I was frustrated seeing that all my effort was just a waste of time."
"But whatever was inside might still be out there, right? And alive?" Catra asked. "We need more information. We need you to tell us everything."
"I will, but I'm tired now. Come back later, please."
Catra nodded and exited the cell. She smiled as she patted the piece of mane Shadow Weaver brushed before. That's when she got a distrusting look from Starscream. "What?"
"So it's affection you're really after?" Starscream asked. "It had nothing to do with power?"
"No. I do want power, but…" Catra said. "Look, it's hard to understand."
"Catra, the minute you start showing weakness for that woman is the minute you're going to wish you could take back." Starscream advised. "Remember how it was for me back when I was an Autobot? When I learned the hard way that all my efforts to win the praise of others was pointless, that was devastating."
"I know. I saw your memory." Catra said. "But I have to at least give her a chance. Just… Help me. Please."
Starscream paused for a moment before sighing. "Fine. I can't do anything to change Hordak's mind, but since he is working alongside Lord Megatron, perhaps I can get him to put in a good word and reduce Shadow Weaver's sentence."
Catra smiled. "Thanks, Scream. It means a lot."
As soon as she was sure that Catra and Starscream were gone, Shadow Weaver reached for her gruel tray. But it wasn't for the food. She noticed a glimmer from underneath the gruel earlier. When Shadow Weaver brushed it off, she found her old Sorcerer's Guild badge. She sighed in pleasure seeing it again.
While the sorcerers were beginning to repair Mystacor, Glimmer gave Sari a big hug.
"You sure you're going to be okay?" Glimmer asked.
"I'm not sure, but I'll get through it." Sari said. "Take care everybody."
"You too." Hot Rod said. "And try not to cause any magic storms again, okay?"
"Rod!" Adora shouted just as Sari walked away.
"I believe this is yours by the way." Castaspella said handing the piece she had to Arcee.
"The last disk piece." Arcee said accepting the gift. Bumblebee gave her the rest of the Golden Disk and she slowly attached the last piece. It stayed there becoming a complete set. "Finally. The Golden Disk is whole."
"So how does it work?" Bow asked. "Is there some kind of Cybertronian disk reader or something?"
"Yeah. I there's bound to be one on the Ark." Hot Rod said.
"So we're heading back to Bright Moon." Hot Rod said.
"Sure." Adora said.
"Hey, Aunt Cass," Glimmer said, "Take care of Glimmer. This has got to be a big change for her."
Castaspella looked behind her at the Hall of Sorcerers knowing that's where Sari walked into. "I will." She promised.
As the Autobots left, Castaspella turned and entered the hall. She caught Sari staring up at the dark and overgrown statue of Light Spinner. Castaspella approached and dropped a piece of clothing on Sari's head catching her by surprise.
"HEY! What's the big…" Sari removed the cloth. She gave an unamused look seeing that it was a yellow sweater with the black-font words reading "Sorry, Sari" on it. "Clever."
"Sorry. I thought it'd help make up." Castaspella said.
"This may take some getting used to." Sari said holding up her fist to look at. "After my meltdown earlier, I began to see things, visions. I think it was a long-forgotten memory."
"A memory?" Castaspella asked.
"It might have only been for a quick second, back when I was a protoform. Something opened the chamber I was in and it stirred me awake. My little, young eyes caught a glance at an Autobot I've never seen before. I think it was Zeta Prime. He opened my chamber only to put the disk piece inside. He closed the chamber immediately after and carried it off with me inside. I drifted back to sleep after that."
"Why would he leave a baby in charge of protecting something so important?" Castaspella asked.
"I don't know." Sari said. "But hey, it all worked out, didn't it? You know, except for the part where it was Shadow Weaver, Mystacor's greatest enemy, to bring me to life."
"If it's any consolation, given how Adora always described her, she'd be a terrible mother." She and Sari shared a laugh at that.
Sari then put on a serious face. "Mom, what happened to her?"
"To who?"
"Light Spinner. What made her join the Horde and become Shadow Weaver?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, something happened that drove her to dark magic, didn't it? Shadow Weaver connected to the Black Garnet because of it, and that's the power she needed to make me into this. I'd at least like to know how it all started."
Castaspella sighed. "All right. I suppose you deserve that much at least.
"Back in the early years of the Horde, Light Spinner was a teacher here a Mystacor. Not only that, but she was your Uncle Micah's private teacher. He was very gifted in magic and Light Spinner thought he would be useful. She foresaw the rise of the Horde and went on to present this threat to the Sorcerer's Guild. She then offered a solution: the Spell of Obtainment."
"The Spell of Obtainment?" Sari asked. "I've heard of that, but I've heard that was a forbidden spell that leeches magic. If it doesn't kill the caster, it would turn them into a magical parasite."
"That's exactly what the Sorcerer's Guild said. That's why they denied her plan, so she took matters into her own hands. She brought Micah to help her perform the Spell of Obtainment on their own. However, Micah saw how evil the spell was and broke off midway. That in turn caused the dark spell to infect Light Spinner. And just as predicted, Light Spinner became a force of destruction feeding off of most of the Sorcerer's Guild. She spared my brother who was the only one to survive. After that, she turned her power to serve the Horde, took the name Shadow Weaver, and has served Hordak ever since."
Sari took another long look at the Light Spinner statue frightened by the story she heard. "Wow. She really went that far."
"Light Spinner's flaw was the very idea that power was the solution to every problem." Castaspella said. "Today, you had enough power to level all of Mystacor, and still, it took only a hug to vanquish it."
Sari chuckled. "Sorry about that. Can't believe I was strong enough to do that though."
"Well, the Moons of Enchantment helped too." Castaspella said.
Speaking of the Moons of Enchantment, that was exactly what Shadow Weaver was counting on. In her cell, she had her guild badge in her hand… before smashing it into the ground. Once it shattered, it revealed a handful of blue dust inside. Shadow Weaver used the dust to write down a spell circle. With the power she reached out from the Moons of Enchantment that were temporarily made her stronger, she casted a spell that would change everything.
Up at the Nemesis, Megatron was at the bridge getting a call from the hired bounty hunter, Lockdown.
"So the Autobots have successfully reassembled the Golden Disk finally." Megatron said. "Good. Keep a close eye on their movements and take whatever action you see…"
"Lord Megatron!" Starscream interrupted as he entered the bridge and approaching his superior. "Apologies for the interruption, but I wanted to talk to you about Hordak's prisoner, Shadow Weaver. You see…"
"Silence!" Megatron interrupted before turning back at the comm pad. "Continue, Lockdown. …Oh, no one important."
Starscream's jaw dropped and he scowled before turning his back to leave.
Without Starscream behind her, Catra walked into Shadow Weaver's cell alone. She seemed pretty excited about the conversation she was waiting to have.
"Okay. I know it hasn't been that long, but I figured we could brainstorm together. You know, come up with some theories about that machine you found and how it might benefit us."
Catra approached Shadow Weaver, but put on a suspicious look since the latter didn't respond. She didn't even turn around. Catra reached her hand out to see if she can get her attention, but became shocked when her hand went right through Shadow Weaver's shoulder. Catra removed her hand coming to realize what this meant.
"You were just using me all along."
Catra shook her head grunting before finally shouting. She slashed her claws at what was clear now as an illusion. It disappeared leaving Catra to fall to her knees in self-hate. She saw that all that was left of Shadow Weaver was the spell circle that she drew. Catra scratched at it furiously and broke out into a raging yell, but it didn't change the truth.
Shadow Weaver has escaped.
Back at the Ark, the Autobots and Optimus Prime had gathered around a disk reader. Arcee held the Golden Disk right above it.
"Is everyone ready?" Arcee asked.
"We've been ready for weeks." Adora said. "This thing may contain secrets that Zeta Prime wanted us to know."
"Indeed." Optimus agreed. "Let's not waste another second."
Arcee nodded before setting the Golden Disk down. The machine ran and the disk began to spin. Just then, the screen behind it turned on and displayed a blue image. But it wasn't quite what they expected. What was displayed were a set of white lines written like little glyphs.
"What's this?" Hot Rod asked.
"It looks like First Ones writing." Glimmer said.
"Wait. Did Zeta Prime know the First Ones?" Arcee asked.
"Not that he ever told me." Optimus said. "Adora, can you read it?"
"Sure." Adora said stepping closer. "It says… 'Serenia. Portal. Mara.'"
"That's it?" Hot Rod asked. "That's what all this was for? All the Decepticon battles, the First Ones viruses, and a pouty magic girl just for three words?"
Bumblebee buzzed.
"Good point, Bee." Arcee said. "Adora, isn't Mara the name of the She-Ra before you?"
"Yeah. Light Hope told me she lost control and sent Etheria into Despondos. Though, I don't know what portals have to do with her or even what Serenia is."
"But why just those three words?" Hot Rod asked. "Why didn't Zeta Prime just tell us a complete sentence at least?"
Optimus Prime stepped closer to the computer that was hooked up to the disk reader and took a close look. "I see. It appears that the Golden Disk has more information, but they're all hidden behind layers and layers of firewalls. We may have to unlock each firewall in order to find out the Golden Disk's secrets."
"And how do we do that?" Glimmer asked.
"Maybe these three words are giving us a clue of some kind." Bow said.
"One thing's for certain though." Optimus Prime said. "We may have reassembled the Golden Disk, but we're far from done with it."
Author's Note: I only just finished this and I am glad that I made it. As of this moment, I have only one chapter left before I finish this volume. Next chapter, we will have a final battle against Lockdown, Catra and Starscream in hot water, and a hard truth about Bow's past that he has to face.
Any and all comments are welcome.
