Alina huffed furiously as she rounded the corner of the small clearing. She was fuming inside from Zoya and she felt her light balling up inside her, ready to shoot out. She wished she have given her a proper beating, just to show her up. Kirigan followed behind her. He too was furious with Zoya but he kept his calm and he would deal with her later.

"Saints who does she think she is" Alina huffed and when they reached the clearing, she paced back and forth, her hard footsteps leaving a small trail.

"I haven't even done anything horrible to her and yet she comes at me like that, not to mention what she said about my parents" Kirigan had never seen Alina this mad before. The only time he saw her frustrated was the first time they met when he saved her from being murdered by the Fjerdan's.

"Why has she got such a problem with me… Uhh I can't stand her" Alina gritted, her anger growing more and Kirigan stepped closer to her, placing his hands on her shoulders to stop her pacing.

"Hey, hey, hey calm down" he said softly, his hands pressing into her shoulders to relax her. He could feel the tension building inside her and Alina sighed loudly but the anger was still there.

"She had no right to speak about my mother like that" Alina said furiously.

"I know, she crossed the line and I'll deal with her later" he said and Alina finally relaxed. Her rage had simmered down and her light slowly vanished, the temptation to shine it now gone.

"Don't let her get to you, Zoya is jealous because you can fight the same as her and she's been training since she was ten and you've had only months of training" Kirigan said and Alina looked up into his dark eyes.

"Not just that though, she thinks I get special treatment… which is guess I do" Alina said quietly and looked down on the floor. If Alina could decide, she'd get rid of the guards and would want to be treated like any other Grisha. But she was the sun summoner. She wasn't just any ordinary Grisha. She was the only one and Kirigan wasn't going to let one jealous Grisha depict Alina's lifestyle here at the little palace.

"Those guards are there for you safety. I assigned Genya to you because I wanted you to be comfortable here. You chose to wear this kefta, you could have worn the blue one but you didn't. None of this is special treatment and it doesn't mean you should be singled out. I will not have any of my Grisha being treated as anything less, especially you" Kirigan said and Alina looked up at him.

"The only thing that makes you different is you are the only sun summoner here and it's my duty to make sure you learn you power and embrace it. Two threats have been made to you and I won't have anything happen to you" Alina stared up at him, her face softening and she offered a gentle smile.

Kirigan smiled back, his hand reaching up and cupping her cheek. He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. Alina moaned quietly, her hand cupping his shoulder as she fell into his embrace. His lips took over hers in a deeper kiss, the edge of his tongue touching the tip of hers.

They pulled back and Alina grinned up at him. She could stay in his arms for ages if she wanted to. Kirigan brushed his thumb against her cheek.

"How was your training anyway, besides Zoya?" he asked. The whole purpose was to make sure Alina remembered her fighting so that if anything did happen, she could defend herself.

"It was good, I remembered everything he taught me which I was worried about seeing as I hadn't trained with him for a while" she said happily.

"Although it got me thinking, if something did happen, I could just use my powers, no?" she said. It would be the most logical explanation. Her powers against self defence came on top and surely it would be easier to do so.

"Perhaps but say you're in a situation where your hands are immobile and you cannot summon, then what are you to do" he said and Alina nodded.

"I guess your right" she said.

"It's good to keep up and refresh every now and then. Also just so I know the details, who started the fight" he asked curiously and Alina looked away with blushing cheeks. She was a little embarrassed to admit she started the fight.

"It was me" she said quietly and Kirigan nodded and smirked.

"Ok" he said.

"What are you going to say… don't go too hard on her, I don't want to make things really awkward between us" Alina said but Kirigan narrowed his eyes slightly.

"She crossed the line Alina, the second time. I won't put up with it again" he said sternly which showed his anger towards Zoya.

"I know but I'm over it now" Alina didn't want to make her life unbearable by being an enemy of Zoya.

"Just leave it with me alright, don't worry about it" he said softly and pressed his lips to hers once again.

Zoya waited in Kirigan's office, hands clasped behind her back and foot tapping on the hardwood floor. when Ivan had come and informed her that Kirigan wanted to speak with her, she knew it was because of Alina.

Zoya rolled her eyes in disgust. She didn't see what was so great about her. She didn't even know she was Grisha for ten years of her life and now she comes to the little palace getting the best treatment because she's the general's new toy.

She was still holding a grudge against Alina from that day she first trained with Botkin and she punched her in the face. that was the first reprimand she got and now she was in the same position as last time.

The doors opened to the office and Kirigan waltzed in, shutting them loudly behind him, a stern expression on his face as he walked over.

"You wanted to see me" she said flatly and waited for his reply. Kirigan rounded his desk and stared hard at Zoya.

"Yes… I think you know what this is about" he said. Zoya stayed quiet, her eyes glued to Kirigan as his stare was deadly and intimidating.

"You should know better than to bring up the misfortune of someone else's parents" Kirigan started and Zoya sighed.

"With all due respect Sir I- "Kirigan held his hand up to silence her.

"I wasn't finished… I don't care if you are jealous of Alina and her abilities but I don't ever want to hear you speaking to her like that" he seethed and Zoya clenched her hands behind her back.

"I only said the truth" Zoya murmured softly.

"And what truth is that?" Kirigan demanded.

"That she thinks she has it better than us, that she gets personal guards and a suite, we never got that" Zoya raised her voice.

"Those guards are for her protection and as for her room I want her as comfortable as she can be. She is the sun summoner, the only one and I will not have any threats come to her including you" he stormed round his desk and stood in front of Zoya.

"You will apologise to Alina and from now on you stay out of her way unless I say otherwise. One more incident like this and I'll have you sent off finding supplies instead of training Grisha, do I make myself clear" Kirigan said sternly and Zoya nodded.

"Good, now get out" he ordered and Zoya turned swiftly, leaving his office and slamming the door.
