Starfire was done with everything seeing her once best friend turn out like this was hurting her. She decided to head to the Fortress of Solitude to take Raven on her own, she knew her fighting style well and was one of the few people that could match her power especially when her emotions are high which they were at this moment.
There were hundreds of zombies guarding the Fortress so Starfire knew right away that she had the location correct. She flew towards it blasting all of the zombies to ash using her light bursts. Star Sapphire and Damian were guarding the place and went to stop her Damian was quickly knocked down when he tried to grapple up to Starfire. Star Sapphire, however, was able to block her attacks and get a few hits in.
Star Sapphire and Starfire got into an energy attack battle and eventually, both were injured enough that they weren't able to fly anymore.
"I don't need my flight to defeat you," Starfire said.
"Let's fight woman to woman," Star Sapphire said.
"It would be my pleasure," Starfire said.
(Match 1: Starfire Vs Star Sapphire)
"No powers," Starfire said.
"Batman isn't brave enough to come here himself I see so he sent one of his lackeys," Nightwing said.
"Batman didn't send me this is all my decision I have some unfinished business with my old best friend," Starfire said.
"Yeah, that is right, you and Raven were part of some squad called the Teen something."
"The Teen Titans and you better learn to respect that name you brat," Starfire said.
"I don't care, soon me and Raven will restore the Regime and I will prove to the world how wrong my father was."
"Raven does not care about restoring the regime she is lying to you if you want any hope at salivation you need to turn back," Starfire said.
"It is you that is lying Starfire, you will face death by my sword." Starfire fired some light bursts at Nightwing but he used his sword to block them all. Nightwing then ran up to Starfire and attempted to slash her down. Starfire was able to dodge out of the way and shot another Light Burst at Nightwing, which he was not able to block in time.
Nightwing took the hit well though and got back up. Starfire flew towards him and attempted to punch him down, but Nightwing was the better hand-to-hand fighter and knocked her back.
"Without your powers, you are nothing Starfire," Nightwing said.
"I can still beat you."
(Match 1: Starfire Vs Star Sapphire)
"Stay down. Now that, that is taken care of it is time to teach my old friend a lesson," Starfire said.
Meanwhile, Batman and the rest of the league were trying to figure out where Raven had gone. Batman was trying to use his tech to track Raven's location while Flash and Supergirl were running and flying respectively around the world to find her.
Harley had gone to Arkham to see if Raven was hanging out around there, but came back to tell Batman, "Arkham was empty Bats."
"That is not, Supergirl, Flash any luck locating Raven," Batman asked.
"No luck most of the zombies seem to have vanished," The Flash said.
"Yeah, I have been noticing that as well, I wonder where they all could have gone," Supergirl said.
"What is it Bats?" Harley Quinn asked Batman while he was thinking about this interesting development.
"I am thinking, Raven now has black hands ring which means that she can control the zombie army. My best guess is that Raven has called the zombies to some location, possibly to act as guards for her plan of brainwashing the entire world."
"So we just need to track down one of the zombies and it will lead us to Raven," Harley Quinn said.
"That is correct, Flash, Supergirl lookout for any zombies," Batman said.
Meanwhile, Raven was still trying to repair the ring and was mere hours from succeeding. However, Star Sapphire came running in after her loss to Starfire saying, "Mistress Raven she breached our defences Nightwing has lost."
"And who might it be that manages to defeat you and Nightwing?" Raven asked.
"Starfire."
"My father has little tolerance for failure," Raven said using her psychic powers to take the ring off of Star Sapphire killing her again.
"Carol," Green Lantern shouted.
"Your precious girlfriend is no longer of any use to me Lantern soon this world will belong to my father," Raven said.
"So that is what this all about Raven your father, Trigon," Starfire said.
"Star Sapphire warned me about you coming I guess I will have to take care of you myself."
"What happened to you Raven we used to be such good friends and now you are doing this, first joining the Regime and now trying to bring back Trigon you know what he is capable of."
"Father was the only one who ever cared about me," Raven said.
"How can you say that Raven we were your friends, your family?" Starfire said.
"You were nothing to me, Kori."
Starfire was enraged to hear this coming from Raven, who was once a great friend. She started attacking with all her fury and beating up Raven pretty badly. Raven had a backup plan, though he teleported away, but knew that Starfire would follow her.
Starfire did exactly that and flew towards Raven's location near the portal to the Phantom Zone at blazing speed. Right as Starfire got there Raven released Doomsday and took control of his collar to get him to attack Starfire.
"You did get something out of the Phantom Zone," Starfire said.
"Ignorant Kori it was never about getting Superman he was a liability I only tricked my pawns into thinking that was what I was going to do," Raven said.
"I will beat him," Starfire said.
(Match 3: Starfire Vs Doomsday)
"Not bad Kori I can see why you managed to get through the zombies, but you do not stand a chance against me," Raven said.
Back with Batman and his team The Flash finally found a zombie, "Batman I found a zombie I can't tell where it is heading but it is going somewhere."
"That is good keep following it and keep me updated we will come to your location as fast as we can. Everyone, get in the Batplane we need to hurray."
"Right on it Bats, I hope that Starfire is doing okay," Harley Quinn said.
"I am more powerful than you realize Raven," Starfire said.
"Kori I always beat you in our training matches when we were in the Teen Titans."
"That was because I was holding back Rachel."
"Don't ever call me that again Kori."
(Match 4: Starfire Vs Raven)
Starfire so enraged at her former friend beats her up mercilessly. Raven has several bruises from the constant beating and Starfire even takes the time to light her on fire. She has nearly lost control of herself being consumed by her powers. Batman and his team arrive though and see what Starfire is doing.
"Starfire, stand down," Batman said.
"No Batman I have her beat," Starfire said.
"Yes, I can see that let me arrest her, she will face justice for what she did," Batman said.
"No that is not good enough she needs to die."
"Starfire Bats said no killing," Harley Quinn said.
"Don't let yourself become the next Superman," Black Canary said.
These words did manage to stick to Starfire and she calmed down enough to put Raven down. In the confusion, though Raven was able to crawl away and came across Damian.
"Damian help me we have failed, but we live to fight another day," Raven said.
"You don't think I heard everything you said, you don't care about restoring the Regime or rescuing Superman you only care about your precious father." Nightwing got out his sword ready to kill Raven in revenge.
"Damian please don't do it," Raven said. The plea was empty though Damian was minutes away from stabbing her to death Batman caught it in time but was too late to stop him. Damian stabbed Raven in the stomach killing her once and for all. "Father, I have failed you forgive me," Raven's last words.
Batman was upset but at this point, he knew that Damian was too far gone. Batman stunned him with a gadget and arrested him.
The dust had settled Damian was taken to prison where he would spend a long time, Doomsday was placed back in the Phantom Zone, and Raven's death meant that all the black rings stopped working getting rid of all the zombies including Luthor and Shazam. Black Adam had once again returned to Khandaq, Solomon Grundy, Livewire and Killer Frost had all been detained and sent back to prison, Deadman had to go back to the land of the dead and Green Lantern went back to Oa to handle a situation there.
This victory was Bittersweet though, as they had lost Batgirl as a result of the battle the rest of the team set up a funeral to mourn her death.
"It never ends, we keep losing good people first to Superman and then whoever springs up afterwards," Harley Quinn said.
"I know Harleen we have lost so many great people," Batman said.
"I will miss Barbara," Black Canary said.
Inside the phantom zone, Superman was continuing to sulk when he came across Doomsday again. "I guess Batman was able to defeat Raven and place Doomsday back in this place, can't say I am unhappy about this."
