IAML3G3ND: Understandable. I don't blame you.
MysticMauler: Sorry it felt clunky. I'm glad you like the idea though!
Hitler's Moustache: Thank you. And I'm aware of how major of implications it has for Remnant. Though Salem does have at least one canonical spy I know of that would know the truth of who and what Schwarz really is. So while her plans would certainly have to adapt to development she would be fully aware of the truth of the matter.
CykaBlyatintensifies: Because the main point of the golems was to protect settlements outside of the major cities from the Grimm and golems that are made of crystal really can't be dismissed as being Atlesian robots since they're literally made of moving crystal. Also Schwarz doesn't know about Salem yet and Ozpin isn't going to tell him until later on in the story. So Schwarz doesn't realize that the Grimm are being controlled by anyone, and thus doesn't realize actual strategy matters. And Ozpin doesn't trust him enough to tell him about Salem so he can't tell Schwarz that the Grimm are being controlled by anyone either. So this was the only real option other than not using them at all.
Guest: That is a misconception. Big Hat Logan only went insane from reading the Archives as reaching the Duke's Archives and reading them was his entire purpose as an undead. So once he accomplished his purpose he started going insane because he was going Hollow as he had already fulfilled his purpose and there was nothing keeping him sane anymore. And the Dark Soul can be split infinitely. That means the Dark Soul's power can grow infinitely no matter what age it is. Thus Manus' power can grow infinitely no matter if it's the Age of Fire or not.
Guest: In the first chapter it was because he had nothing to hide. He wanted to be imprisoned and if there was one thing he could trust humans to help him with it was imprisoning himself. After that he had no reason not to trust them. If they meant him any harm they would have just let him imprison himself. The fact they didn't do that and even gave him a purpose so he could retain his sanity means they are more trustworthy to him than half the people in Lordran. Essentially he was the one who wanted inside the prison and they're the ones that wanted to keep him out of the prison.
Guest: Who said the illusion can fight? It's just like the illusion of Gwynevere that Gwyndolin created in Anor Londo. One hit and poof. It's gone. Though Schwarz would then "smite" the person who dared to attack it before recreating the illusion immediately afterwards sooo... Also it's a lot easier to convince people that a giant shadow creature is a god then it is to convince them that a guy in a mask is a god. So yes he could do all of that but why would he bother when he could just make an illusion? And read my previous response. He's not actually that trusting. Its that he has no reason to distrust them as all they've done so far is help him.
Enthessi: Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it! And I'm glad you like the god/crusade thing.
When the ride was over Schwarz was actually one of the last people to leave the ship as he had been near the back for the entire trip. Almost as soon as he exited the ship he heard an explosion. Concerned, he looked in the direction of the explosion and saw two girls. One was covered in soot while the other appeared to be completely clean and unharmed.
Deciding it wasn't his problem he ignored it and continued on his way to the auditorium. They could settle their issues themselves. He didn't need to involve himself in other people's affairs, let alone on the first day.
Eventually he got to the Auditorium and waited around until Ozpin finally started giving his speech. "I'll… keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge. To hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy in need of purpose and direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." With that being said, Ozpin turned and began walking away from the microphone.
In his place Glynda stepped up and said, "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed."
Later Schwarz was in the ballroom with the other students. He had to stay there with them for now though he would be staying in his dorm from the next day forward. Even when he was eventually put in a team he wouldn't be staying with them as there was only so much room in each dorm and none of them were built for five people. But that was a concern for later. For now the worst part about having to stay around so many people at night was the fact he was going to have to pretend to sleep even though he was physically incapable of it. So he would be extremely bored for pretty much the entire night.
Sitting down on his sleeping bag, he pulled out a book that he stole from the Duke's Archives and started reading it over for what he knew was likely the fifty thousandth time. It was simply one of his favorites as it went into detail about some of Seath's darkest experiments. What the dragon did was absolutely appalling, but Schwarz couldn't help but have a sort of morbid fascination with the details of the grotesque experimentation. A few people tried to ask him what it was about and he told them it was a fictional horror story written from the perspective of a mad scientist conducting horrifying experiments on living Humans and Faunus and just ignored them until they left him alone if they tried to continue speaking with him.
It wasn't that he had a problem with speaking to others. He most certainly didn't. He simply didn't exactly know what he could possibly talk about with any of them. He couldn't mention anything from his world and the only thing he was really familiar with in this world was their technology and killing Grimm and he sincerely doubted they cared about either technology or slaughtering Grimm nearly as much as he did. So he kept to himself as he thought that was the best thing he could do at the time.
Eventually it was time for lights out, so he closed his book, layed down, and pretended to go to sleep. After about two hours he became bored. So, using his semblance he engulfed the entire room in pure darkness save for a tiny bubble around himself. He then began using pyromancy as a light source and continued reading. Being able to feel everything in his darkness, he could tell that a few people woke up during the night. But when they saw how unbelievably dark it was they seemed to decide whatever they woke up for wasn't worth it and went back to sleep. That was until one of them picked up their Scroll and Schwarz was forced to dispel his pyromancy flame, lay down, and retract his darkness from most of the room. The only exception being the windows as he had to make it seem like it was genuinely this dark because there was simply no light entering the room. He had to keep watching the individual who was using their scroll until they finally turned it off. At that point he covered the room in his darkness again and continued reading.
He checked his scroll every so often to keep track of what time it was, and once it was time for the sun to start rising he let his darkness dissipate and layed back down pretending to sleep until it was time for them all to get up.
The next day in the locker rooms he proceeded to put on his Black Knight armor. He could have put on his Black Iron Armor or even Havel's Armor but he honestly didn't think he was going to need that much protection during the initiation. When his armor was on someone approached him and said, "Woah… Uh… Don't you think all that armor's a bit much?"
He looked and saw it was a girl with long yellow hair. He then shook his head and said, "No. The more defense the better. Our auras can only protect us so much. Once they fall we're defenseless. So it's always wise to wear proper armor. If anything I find it odd that so many of you are wearing so little armor. In fact, you yourself are only wearing basic clothes. Why is that?"
"For extra mobility, duh! Wearing clunky armor all the time is just going to limit your mobility when fighting Grimm. And if you aren't as mobile as possible you're as good as dead even with armor." The girl responded.
"Tell me miss, you have never actually worn a full suit of armor have you?" Schwarz inquired.
The girl shook her head. "No I haven't. Why?"
"Armor does not impair one's movement. In fact I can do all of the same things while wearing this as when I'm not. The concept that armor hinders movement is pure myth. It's not even that heavy. So there's really no good excuse for not wearing it." Schwarz explained as he slung his rifle over his back via a leather strap and sheathed his rapier at his hip.
"Huh. I never knew that. Well still, don't expect me to go running around in armor." The girl stated.
"I don't mean to be rude but what you choose to wear honestly isn't any of my business. I wear armor for the defense it provides. I don't expect anyone else to follow my example." Schwarz said.
"Fair enough I guess… Oh hey, there's my sister! Sorry I gotta go!" The girl said before running off towards another girl.
Schwarz just shrugged and continued preparing for the initiation. After thinking about it for a few moments he decided to take Priscilla's Dagger and his Lifehunt Scythe — both of which he had fully reinforced — just in case he needed more powerful weapons than Velka's Rapier. He found it unlikely that he would need them but without his sorcery he felt better taking them just in case.
Since he was taking his Lifehunt Scythe he decided to change his rings since the power of Lifehunt was dangerous even to him and the scythe's power would turn on him since he wasn't Priscilla. Thus he decided to wear his bloodbite ring, hornet ring, old witch's ring, and his last ring of favor and protection. He was reluctant to use his ring of favor and protection knowing it would break if he ever took it off and it was the only one he had left after the one he took from Lautrec's corpse had broken but it would help him stay alive if he ended up having to use the Lifehunt Scythe and ended up falling victim to the power of Lifehunt himself. He always hated using that damned scythe for that very reason, he much preferred Priscilla's dagger, but sometimes it was just too useful to not use in certain situations.
Eventually there was an announcement over the intercom. "Would all first year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."
"For years, you have trained to become warriors. And today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin explained to the students assembled on the cliff.
"Now I'm sure some of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates… today." Glynda informed them.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years. After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die. You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path, containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Ozpin told them all.
"Yeah, um… sir?" Said a blond boy, raising his hand.
"Good! Now, take your positions." Ozpin ordered them.
"Uh, sir? I've got, uh… a question." The blond boy continued.
Schwarz didn't get to hear the rest of the boy's question as he was suddenly launched high into the air off of the side of the cliff. He frowned under his helmet. If only he had his catalyst with him he could just cast Fall Control on himself and this wouldn't be that much of a problem. Unfortunately he did not have his catalyst so he was going to have to figure out something else. He thought about it for a few moments. Unfortunately, having never been in this situation before he honestly had absolutely no clue what to do. So he just raised his arms in front of himself defensively and braced for impact. Crashing through tree branches he hit the ground with a loud Clank, having landed face first on the ground.
Getting up he noticed that one of his arms had been forced out of socket by the impact. Grabbing it, he quickly forced it back into socket before drawing his rapier and starting to head north.
As he was walking he was attacked by some beowolfs, which he quickly dispatched before moving on. He kept running into Grimm as he continued onwards and as such he kept killing them with barely any effort. He had killed gods and compared to them the Grimm were nothing. However by some miracle he didn't end up running into anyone else. It was as if he had been intentionally launched towards an area where he wouldn't run into any other students until the rest of them had all found other partners already. Knowing Ozpin, Schwarz actually suspected that was probably the case.
Eventually he reached the ruins and saw that there was no one else there. Before the initiation even started Professor Ozpin had given him a White Knight chess piece and informed him that he would be attached to whatever team chose that same relic. So he decided to just wait at the ruins to see who would choose the same relic and thus be his teammates. He would then head back to the cliff with them.
Surprisingly enough the first pair of partners to arrive at the ruins included the blond girl that had spoken to him in the locker rooms earlier that day. Next to her was a girl with black hair wearing a bow on top of her head. The blond girl waved at him as the two of them approached. He decided to be friendly and wave back. "Hey armor guy! How's it going? You don't have a partner yet, I see."
"It's going as well as it can, I suppose. And no, I do not have a partner. But that's fine by me. I killed the Grimm I encountered without any issue on my own. Anyways, I already chose my relic. Right now I'm just waiting to see who else chooses the same relic and will be on my team." Schwarz explained.
"What relic did you choose?" The girl with black hair inquired.
Schwarz chuckled slightly. "I'll be keeping that information to myself until after you've chosen your relic. After all, I wouldn't want to influence your decision."
"Pfft, lame…" The blond girl said before walking up and looking at the relics. She then grabbed one and held it up. "How about a cute little pony?" She asked, looking at the girl with black hair.
"Sure." The girl with black hair stated.
Schwarz chuckled and shook his head. "Well, in that case I suppose introductions are in order. I am Schwarz Albrecht. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, my new teammates."
"Wait, you chose the White Knight too?! No way! I mean, you couldn't have, there's another one right there." The girl with blond hair said pointing at a White Knight piece.
Schwarz reached into his bottomless box and pulled out his chess piece before holding it out for them to see. "My name was apparently selected at random from the list of first years by Professor Ozpin so before the initiation he approached me and let me choose a piece beforehand. Apparently there's an odd number of students this year so he said I would be attached to whatever team chose the same piece as the one he gave me. You chose the same piece, so we're part of the same team."
"Huh… Well alright then. I'm Yang Xiao Long. Nice to meet you, Schwarz!" Yang introduced herself.
"I'm Blake Belladonna." Blake introduced herself.
Suddenly there were some noises off in the distance. Yang turned and looked in the direction of the noises. "Hey, did the two of you hear that? What should we do?"
Before either of them could respond yet another girl came falling from the sky. "Heads uuuuuuuuup!" She shouted as she fell. Then suddenly a boy came flying backwards through the air and crashed into her as she was falling causing the both of them to go flying into the trees.
"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake asked Yang.
"I…" Yang started.
However before she could say more she was cut off by the growls of an Ursa and several nearby trees being knocked to the ground as said Ursa burst through them. The Ursa then fell over dead as a girl shouted "Yeee Hawww!" before tumbling off of the Grimm as it hit the ground. "Aw… It's broken…" The girl muttered sadly.
A boy in a green shirt then walked out from behind the dead Ursa and said, "Nora… Please don't ever do that again." He both looked and sounded exhausted.
As he was saying this the girl had already rushed over to the ruins and looked at one of the relics before picking it up and singing, "I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!"
"Nora!" The boy shouted in frustration.
The girl then saluted and said, "Coming, Ren!" She then began walking back towards him.
"Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake inquired.
"I…" Yang started only to be cut off again by a Deathstalker shrieking and crashing its way through even more trees. It appeared to be chasing a girl with red hair.
"Jaune!" She shouted as she ran towards the boy who was now hanging upside down from a tree.
"Pyrrha!" The boy who was apparently named Jaune exclaimed.
"Whoa!" The girl in the black and red dress exclaimed as she saw the Deathstalker.
"Ruby!" Jaune exclaimed as the girl who was apparently named Ruby jumped down from the tree they were both in.
"Ruby?" Yang inquired.
"Yang!" Ruby said happily.
Right as Yang and Ruby were about to hug one another Norra burst between them and exclaimed, "Norra!"
"Did she just run all the way here with a Deathstalker on her tail?" Blake inquired.
"Grrrr! I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!" Yang shouted as there was a fiery explosion behind her and her eyes turned red.
Nothing happened for about two seconds before Ruby tapped her sister on the shoulder and said, "Um… Yang?" She then pointed up towards the sky.
Schwarz looked up and saw a girl dressed in white hanging off of a Giant Nevermore's talon. "How could you leave me?!" The girl in white shouted.
"I said jump." Ruby said, looking up at the girl in white.
"She's gonna fall." Blake commented.
"She'll be fine…" Ruby stated.
"She's falling." Ren said.
Jaune then jumped out of the tree and caught the girl in white. "Just dropping in?" He inquired. He then looked down and realized the situation the two of them were in. "Oh god." He said in a terrified tone. He then hit the ground face first and the girl in white fell right on top of him.
"My hero." The girl in white said in a sarcastic tone.
"My back…" Jaune groaned in pain.
Pyrra was then knocked towards the rest of the group by the Deathstalker.
"Great. The gang's all here! Now we can die together." Yang said in a sarcastic tone.
"Not if I can help it!" Ruby stated before charging towards the Deathstalker. She then fired her scythe and used the recoil to give her a boost in speed.
"Ruby, wait!" Yang exclaimed, too late to stop her sister's suicidal charge.
"Oh damn it all! Enough of this!" Schwarz growled before drawing his Lifehunt Scythe. He really wanted to use the dagger instead since it had none of the drawbacks of the scythe but since he was facing a Deathstalker and Giant Nevermore he decided he should just kill them both as quickly as possible and get it over with. Using his semblance to create solid platforms of humanity, he very quickly jumped his way up towards the Giant Nevermore before impaling it through the side with the scythe like he was using a warpick. He then used the platforms he made with his semblance along with pure brute force to use the scythe to rip the Grimm's chest wide open. The power of Lifehunt very quickly built up in the Grimm as he ripped its chest open and very quickly ripped all of its remaining vitality away from it. Unfortunately it also built up very quickly in Schwarz and ripped half of his vitality away as well.
Grimacing in pain he quickly took a swig from his Estus Flask to restore as much of his vitality as possible. Then he proceeded to jump down off of his platform of solidified humanity and did a plunging attack right on to the back of the Deathstalker, who's stinger was now trapped by ice somehow. As he was falling he saw both Ruby and the girl in white in front of the trapped Deathstalker and assumed that one of them likely used Ice Dust on the Grimm. A few moments later he landed on top of the Grimm and embedded the head of his scythe in its heavily armored back. He then did much the same thing as he did to the Nevermore and ripped its back completely open, building up the power of Lifehunt in it very rapidly and thus killing it as its remaining vitality was ripped away. Once again Schwarz himself was also affected by the power of Lifehunt and had half of his vitality ripped away as well. Unfortunately he couldn't use his estus flask this time as the other students were present and were likely watching him, and he wasn't allowed to reveal the existence of magic.
So just bearing with the pain he ripped the scythe back out of the now dead Deathstalker and put it away before jumping off of its back and making his way back towards the rest of the group. "There… Both of the Grimm are dead. Hopefully we don't run into any more Giant Nevermores or Deathstalkers."
"H-how did you kill them that easily?" Jaune inquired.
"Just a little trick I learned a long time ago from my dear friend Priscilla… Unfortunately she was murdered soon after teaching me. I would tell you what that trick is but I made a promise to keep it to myself so I'm afraid it must remain a secret. Unfortunately it takes a bit of a toll on me so I would rather not have to use it again if I can avoid it." Schwarz lied. In truth, in his quest to relight the First Flame he had murdered Priscilla in hopes of stealing the power of Lifehunt for himself so he could use it to claim the Lord Souls. It was honestly one of his greatest regrets as she hadn't deserved such a fate and after killing Seath he had learned that he could have claimed the Lord Souls even without Lifehunt. So her death had been for nothing and her blood was on his hands.
"Oh, uh… I'm sorry to hear about your friend." Jaune muttered, rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably.
Schwarz just raised a hand signaling him to stop and said, "Don't be. It's not your fault. Besides, as I said it happened a long time ago. My unfortunate past aside, now that the Grimm are gone those of you who only just arrived should choose your relics. Then we can all start making our way back to the cliff."
Ruby and Jaune made their way over to the relics and chose their relics. Ruby picked up the last white knight while Jaune picked up the last white rook. With their relics selected all of them began making their way back towards the cliff.
As they were walking Ruby came up next to him and said, "Sooo… You're a scythe wielder too. That's so cool! I hardly ever get to talk to anyone else who uses a scythe!"
"Well, while I know how to use it it's not actually my weapon of choice. I only brought it along this time in case I ran into any particularly large or dangerous Grimm. I much prefer my rapier, however I realize that it's not the best weapon for killing certain types of Grimm. Thus the reason I carry multiple weapons." Schwarz explained.
Upon hearing that Schwarz didn't actually prefer using his Scythe, Ruby was visibly disappointed. "Aw… I thought I found a scythe buddy… Um… Well, would you mind letting me look at your scythe? I just really like seeing new weapons and yours looks really cool!"
Schwarz shrugged before drawing his Lifehunt Scythe and handing it to her. "Sure. But whatever you do, don't touch the blade and don't hit anything with it."
"Oh? Why?" Ruby asked, taking the scythe and looking at it.
"The blade is a relic of sorts and it's said to be cursed and is extremely dangerous to anyone who isn't its current owner. As I am its present owner, I'm the only one who can wield it safely. Whether you believe in curses or not I myself am rather superstitious and I personally take that curse very seriously. So just please don't do it." Schwarz lied.
"Oh. Alright then… It's a lot lighter than my Crescent Rose. What's it called?" Ruby asked as she examined the weapon.
"It's called the Lifehunt Scythe." Schwarz stated simply.
"Can it do anything else or is it just a scythe?" Ruby inquired, taking a few test swings while being careful not to hit anything with it.
"It's just a scythe. All my weapons are exactly as they appear. My rifle is just a rifle, my rapier is just a rapier, my dagger is just a dagger, and all my other weapons that I didn't bring with me are just what they are. They don't double as anything or do anything other than perform their basic functions. I believe in simplicity in one's weapons. After all, why carry one weapon that's okay at two different functions when you can just carry two weapons that do one thing perfectly? But that's just my opinion." Schwarz stated.
"Well with a weapon that can do both you only have to carry one thing instead of two or more! That's the philosophy that most huntsmen use." Ruby replied before handing the Lifehunt Scythe back to him.
Schwarz nodded. "True. However there are arguments to be had in favor of both sides. This is simply my preference."
"That's fair…" Ruby stated. She was silent for a moment before seeming to realize something. "Wait, you said you have more weapons than the ones you have with you right now. How many do you have exactly?"
"I own a couple dozen or so unique weapons, but if you count copies I have significantly more. I don't have all of these weapons here at Beacon, obviously, but I did bring quite a few with me. So since we're on the same team, you are very likely going to see me use different weapons at different times depending on my mood. Sometimes I may bring this scythe, or I may bring my catchpole, one of my halberds, axes, greataxes, hammers, great hammers, maces, clubs, picks, straight swords, great swords, ultra greatswords, curved swords, katanas, curved greatswords, piercing swords, spears, bows, crossbows, greatbows, fist or claw weapons, and one or two of my daggers. I also have a few different whips but I don't really plan on using them." Schwarz explained.
He waited for a moment thinking she would respond but when she didn't he turned his head to look at her and saw her staring at him, practically drooling. "Er… Are you okay?"
"You have to show me all of them!" Ruby exclaimed excitedly.
"Uh… Very well, I suppose…" He said, feeling extremely confused by this behavior. Did she really find weapons that interesting?
"How the heck did you even carry all of those weapons here and where the heck are they even stored?" Yang inquired.
"Well, my family happens to be quite rich so I was able to hire people to carry my luggage for me. And remember, I didn't bring all of them with me. So most of them are at my home. However, I did bring at least one of each type of weapon and I made arrangements for storage beforehand. I don't expect any of you to try and steal any of them, but I would prefer to keep where they're stored a secret as some of my weapons are quite valuable." Schwarz lied. He couldn't let them know that magic existed so he couldn't tell them about his bottomless box.
"What does your family do to make enough money to buy you all those weapons? My family owns the Schnee Dust Company. Though, recently we've gotten into the business of mining Titanite as well." The girl in white who he still didn't know the name of, inquired.
Schwarz was very quickly getting sick of all these questions. "I would rather not talk about my family, if that's alright. I'm not exactly on the best of terms with them at the moment. In fact I'm quite upset with them right now… Excuse me Miss Schnee but I'm afraid that while I've already heard everyone else's names, I don't know yours just yet. Nor do most of you know mine. So I believe proper introductions are in order. I am Schwarz Albrecht. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"I am Weiss Schnee. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Schwarz." Weiss returned his greeting.
The group continued to make small talk until they finally got back to the cliff.
Later Schwarz and the rest of his team were in the auditorium as the teams were being announced. Their team was called last. "And finally Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the White Knight pieces. However there is an odd number of students this year so there was one more student who also chose the White Knight piece. Schwarz Albrecht. From this day forward you five will work together as team RWBYS. Lead by Ruby Rose." As soon as Professor Ozpin finished speaking the crowd applauded their team.
"I'm so proud of you!" Yang exclaimed before wrapping her sister in a hug.
"It looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year." Ozpin stated.
After all the students were dismissed, Schwarz and the rest of his team were walking back to the dorms making small talk until Schwarz walked up to the door of his dorm. As he was about to open it he heard Yang say, "Hey that's the wrong room. Our dorm is the next door."
"No, that would be your dorm. Not mine. The dorms are only large enough to fit four people. So I'll be staying here." Schwarz explained.
"Wait, so you're getting your own dorm? No fair! Why should you get a room all to yourself when we don't?!" Yang exclaimed in frustration. The other girls voiced their agreements with this sentiment.
Schwarz sighed and said, "Then what would you propose? Because no matter what our dorms are going to be divided unevenly. The only possible solution where one of us wouldn't have a dorm to themself would be to have two people stay in one dorm while the other three stay in the other dorm. After all, the only way we could be divided evenly is if one of us was cut in half, and that's clearly not an option. Either way, two of us are going to have more space and privacy than the other three because, again, there's simply not enough space in the dorms to hold five people."
"So why don't we do just that? Two of us can stay in one dorm while the other three stay in the other dorm." Blake suggested.
"Yeah and we can rotate out who's staying in which dorm every week!" Yang suggested.
Schwarz rolled his eyes and said, "Fine. However, I'm keeping all of my luggage here in my dorm. I would also prefer to stay here in my dorm if possible. Unless I am required to participate in this weekly rotation. I don't care if my dorm is the one with three people staying in it or two so I'll leave that decision up to you."
"Oh no. If the rest of us are gonna go on a rotating schedule of who stays where, then you are too. Anyways, I think our dorm should have three people sleeping there and our second dorm here should be the one to have two people sleeping here." Yang stated.
"Very well. Then who are the two that are going to stay here for the rest of this week?" Schwarz inquired.
"Hm… That's a good question." Weiss stated, trying to think of a way to solve this fairly.
"Well we could use a random team generator online." Ruby suggested.
Blake crossed her arms and nodded. "I guess that could work."
Ruby then took out her scroll and looked up a random team generator on the internet. After inputting all of their names she pressed a button and the "teams" were randomly selected. "Okay, Weiss, Yang, and I are going to stay in the other dorm this week while Schwarz and Blake are going to stay in this dorm." She then showed them all the results of the random team generator and that was indeed what it said.
Schwarz nodded. "Well, I'm glad that's settled. I sincerely apologize if this inconveniences you in any way."
"It's fine." Blake said simply.
"Very well. Good night, everyone." Schwarz said before opening the door and walking into the dorm. Sitting down on his bed he took a book out of his bottomless box. Setting it down on his bed next to him, he proceeded to pull his boots off, remove his gloves, and remove his long coat. He then folded up his long coat and set it down on the ground next to his bed. Finally, he picked up his book, laid down and started reading.
Blake didn't enter the room until a few minutes later, having gone to the other dorm to change into her night clothes since that was where her luggage currently was. However, Schwarz didn't notice even when she walked in as he was far too focused on his book. Seeing him reading Blake couldn't help but ask, "What are you reading?"
Looking up from his book he said, "Oh, there you are. I didn't hear you come in. It's just a fantasy horror story written in the form of research notes from the perspective of a mad sorcerer trying to find the key to achieve immortality."
"Sounds interesting. Do you mind if I borrow it after you're done reading it? I enjoy reading." Blake inquired, sitting down on one of the other beds in the dorm with a book of her own in hand.
"Er… Well, a lot of it is mathematics. While I find it fascinating, it's not really the best book for casual reading unless you have a very strong interest in science and mathematics." This was not entirely untrue. There was indeed a significant amount of mathematics in the book. However he only told her that as an attempt to drop the subject since he really didn't want to try to figure out how to explain why it was written in another language or how he learned said language.
"But didn't you just say it was a horror story?" Blake inquired.
Schwarz nodded. "I did indeed. But I also said that it's written in the form of a mad sorcerer's research notes. The horror element comes in when he's describing the horrific experiments he's conducting on living people that he kidnapped and the grotesque results of said experiments."
Blake shrugged and said, "I can just skip or skim over most of the math."
Unable to think of any other way out of this without making it blatantly obvious that he didn't want her to read it he said, "Very well. I'll lend it to you once I'm finished reading through it. I should be done in just a few days."
Blake gave him a small smile and said, "Thanks. I'm looking forward to reading it." She then laid down on her bed and began reading her own book.
Schwarz was cursing mentally. He was going to have to completely copy down all of the book's contents and translate it all to the language of Remnant. To make matters worse he was going to have to do it in just a few days. On the brightside he could write in the language of Remnant well enough to adequately translate the book, but that was a very minor brightside all things considered. He was going to have to dedicate the entirety of his nights solely to translating the book if he was going to finish copying it down before Blake started to wonder what was taking him so long.
Notes: I was originally planning to put Yang in the dorm with Schwarz but I thought the chapter was already focusing a bit to heavily on Yang so I decided on Blake instead. Feel free to tell me who you think his next dormmate(s) should be. He can stay in either dorm, it really doesn't matter all that much.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Feel free to leave a review. I welcome constructive criticism so please don't be afraid to voice any issues you have with my story! If I don't know what I'm doing wrong I can't fix it.
