When Sam arrived home that evening Cassie was getting ready for their date. She was sat at her dressing table wearing a short ivory silk robe putting on her make-up. "Hello Sam," Cassie greeted her husband just as he was about to enter the room. He smiled to himself, he still didn't know how she did it but he hoped that she would never stop. "Hi," he said as he kissed her cheek, "Good day?"

"Um, well..." Sam turned to look at her, his concern written on his face.

"I'm sure it's nothing, I've just had this strange feeling for most of the day. It's just left me feeling a bit...unsure of things." Sam put his arms around his wife and kissed her temple. Well if there's anything I can do to make you feel better, just let me know."

Cassie smiled, "Thank you, I will."

"Now, I'm going to take a shower, I've got a hot date to get ready for."

Cassie finished doing her make-up and dried her hair whilst Sam was in the shower. She was stood in front of the closet deciding what to wear when Sam came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. "How did you meeting go?" Cassie asked as she selected a purple dress with a criss cross neckline. "It was fine, it was to go through applications for medical research and trials."

"That sounds interesting."

"It is, it's just difficult deciding which ones we should fund. All of them have merit and the potential to help a lot of people." Sam finished drying himself off and went to the closet and selected a pair of dark jeans and a white shirt.

"I'm sure you will make the right choice," Cassie smiled as she took off her robe and stepped into the dress. "Can you zip me up?" Sam moved over to her, pulling up the zipper making sure to graze his finger up her back as he pulled it. It sent a shiver down Cassie's spine. "I love it when you do that," Sam said a little huskily. Cassie turned around and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "I remember the first time I saw you wearing this dress. We kissed in the kitchen whilst making dinner. We were going to tell the kids about us that night but they had a big fight."

"I remember," Cassie replied with a warm smile.

Sam skimmed his hands down Cassie's hips, then back up. He began to trace the criss cross of the fabric over her chest. "I was so distracted by how you looked in this dress, I could barely think straight."

"I did notice," Cassie laughed.

"Oh," Sam smiled sheepishly. "I thought I did a good job at hiding it."

Cassie laughed again, "Not really." Sam pretended to look offended. "Now, come on. We'll be late for our reservation."

Sam reached over to hold Cassie's hand, whilst they waited for their dessert. "So, I've got a late start tomorrow morning. And as we have no guests tonight I thought maybe we could have a lazy morning, maybe have breakfast in bed. What do you think?"

Cassie smiled at her husband, "I already asked Kate to open for me tomorrow."

"Of course you did," Sam laughed.

"It will be nice to relax a little before Grey House gets busy this weekend and Nick and Grace come home for the holidays."

Sam squeezed her hand, "I can't wait to see them, I want to hear all about college."

"Yeah, me too. It's feels like forever since they were last home. I've really missed them."

The waitress put down the chocolate souffle onto the table along with two forks, "Ooh, I've been looking forward to this all day," Cassie exclaimed as she ate a mouthful.

"And here's me thinking you were looking forward to dinner with your husband," Sam joked.

Cassie giggled, "You know how much I love my chocolate desserts."

"That I know," he laughed.

Back at Grey House, Cassie was in the kitchen boiling the kettle on the stove to make some tea. "Sam, would you like a cup?" she asked.

"My tea that tastes like coffee?" he asked, Cassie nodded , "Please." Sam circled the counter and stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Cassie leaned back a little, enjoying the feel of Sam's body pressed against her own. He began trailing kisses up her neck, eliciting a soft moan. "Maybe we should should take the tea upstairs to drink in bed," Cassie whispered.

"Mmm, now you're talking," Sam mumbled against her skin.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door, "It's nearly ten o'clock. Who's knocking at this time?" Sam asked with a furrowed brow.

Cassie shrugged, "Maybe it's an unexpected guest?"

"You make the tea and I'll deal with whoever it is," Sam said as he pulled away from her and made his way towards the front door.

Sam opened the door to a man, he seemed familiar but Sam couldn't place where from. "Hi, are you looking for a room?" Sam asked.

The man nodded, "Yeah, sorry it's so late."

"No problem," Sam gestured to the man to follow him. "My wife is in the kitchen, she runs the bed and breakfast."

"Your wife?"

"Yes, Grey House has been in her family for generations." The man nodded at Sam's explanation. "Cassie", Sam called, "We have a guest."

Cassie had just gotten two mugs out of the kitchen cupboard and went to place them on the counter when she heard Sam call, moments later he entered the kitchen with the mysterious guest. Cassie looked up, a shocked expression on her face. She dropped the mug she was holding, it shattered into pieces as it hit the floor.
