AUTHOR'S NOTES

I never see too many fanfictions out there in the wild where the Fire Emblem character of Greil is listed as the focus character. So, I've decided to do a short story where he is the focus character. But the main elements to the story are Greil himself, a song, and a shining silver star. The original elements are just some original characters and concepts.

A Song of the Silver Star

A Fire Emblem Story

Chapter I

Once upon a time, in a small village long ago in the land of the beast tribe laguz nation of Gallia, there lived an ex-general now serving as a mercenary for the Gallian lion king Caineghis. His name was Greil. Formerly known as Gawain, he was one of the legendary Four Riders of Daein, a beorc nation where he himself was born. He had a family, consisting of his two young children, Ike and Mist, and his wife, Elena.

One evening, during the middle of the night, a dragon's roar was heard outside of Greil's house. Waking up to the notorious dragon's roar, Greil jumped out of bed and went to the main window. It appeared that to his blaring blue eyes, a flock of wyverns were flying high in the night sky. But what could this possibly mean? In a hurry, Greil woke up his wife, and told her to get dressed.

"Now why do I have to get dressed in the middle of the night, honey?" Elena asked her dearest husband.

"Elena, there is no time to explain everything, my dearest darling." Greil said. "We must get dressed now and go outside to see exactly what is going on out there."

"…Fine…" Elena said. "But what about the children? They can't stay here by themselves! It's just… it's just too dangerous!"

"I'll hire a babysitter." Greil said. "Possibly Jopie Restivon's mother will watch the kids for us. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with Ike and Mist anyways?" Elena remained silent.

After Greil and Elena were dressed, Greil grabbed his sword while Elena grabbed her staff and the artifact known as Lehran's Medallion, which was the Fire Emblem of Tellius. Together, the couple went outside. To their surprise, everyone was outside looking up at the sky. But what could possibly be up there?"

"What is it?" Greil asked his neighbor Mrs. Restivon.

"I don't know… But I'm keeping Jopie out of this, Greil." Mrs. Restivon said. "Just in case it's something dangerous to the village."

"We really don't blame you, Mrs. Restivon." Elena said. "We're keeping Ike and Mist out of this, too."

"But where are you guys going all dressed up?" Mr. Restivon asked Greil and Elena." Nighttime date under the stars or something?"

"We are going to go see why there is a flock of wyverns up in the sky where that silve star is." Greil responded.

"I see." Mr. Restivon said. "Be careful out there, you two. Okay?"

"We will, Mr. Restivon." Greil responded. And so, both Greil and Elena mounted on Greil's white horse, Rose, and rode off into the countryside of the wild to see what was going on with the wyverns.

When Greil and Elena reached their destination of the countryside plains near a shining, azure blue lake, the silver star was shining on the couple. It was unknown what was going on, but Greil suspected that it was something bad. But Elena disagreed with her dearest and most loved husband. Then, the star later granted Greil and Elena with divine powers. The powers, which made the couple stronger, represented something inside of them. Greil was given the star's great power of strength. This meant that he would be stronger with any weapon he could master. And Elena, with the shining silver star seeing how she was good with a staff and magic, gifted her the great power of magic. This meant that Elena could master any type of holy magic presented to her by the star itself. Then, the couple was given a message from the star by its invisible voice.

"My blessed couple of Tellius," the shining silver star spoke, "There is a holy song of which I possess. The wretched German Shepherd Labolas Caacrinolaas has traveled here from Bran Castle in Bran, Transylvania in the real world to come and take control of me. Please, my fairest ones. You must go to Gebal Castle across the river and through the forest where Labolas is and stop him from taking my song." Greil and Elena later accepted the quest. And so, a true adventure through Gallia was about to emerge for both Greil and Elena. They also knew very little information about the dangers they had to face throughout the countryside of Gallia. From the laguz slaves to the beorc soldiers all under the control of Labolas Caacrinolaas, this would not be an easy task.
