It was barely a pond and not nearly enough like a lake. Only about 7 meters across and the water only reached their shoulders because they were swimming when they stood at the deepest part; it was only mid-chest deep. The water was slightly murky and Harry might have been worried about the source if he didn't have magic or it wasn't so hot!
The whole last week has been one blazing day after another, only a single degree less than the record. The water was warm but still cool enough that it felt heavenly to swim in as the sun beat down on their heads.
There wasn't a lot of room for fancy tricks. Not that Harry knew many of them anyway, though he had gone swimming a bit more since leaving Hogwarts.
-Ron splashed him, stalling Harry's train of thought. He focused on his friend swimming not that far away.
Ron was grinning, he was so freckled if you weren't paying close enough attention he looked quite tan. He had filled in quite a bit due to quidditch, and auror training and his build was quite athletic. Harry splashed him back enjoying the feeling of his weight being suspended in the large body of water and being able to relax and enjoy himself. Even if it was just for a little bit, and avoid thinking about the pile of cases on his desk waiting for him when he got back.
There weren't enough people to play any games, like Marco Polo that Hermione had taught them. So the two of them were just swimming around, sometimes racing each other which Ron tended to win since he was a better swimmer than he was.
The pond was about 4 Kilometers away from the Burrow which now that they two could apparate it was very simple to get to regardless if they were staying there or not. Though when Hermione came they usually went to a lake that was busier and further out.
Hermione unsurprisingly was working overtime, again. If anyone thought that Hermione would slow down after graduating from Hogwarts, they would have been mistaken.
Harry rolled onto his back and briefly enjoyed the feeling of being suspended weightlessly before a shower of water hit him again, Righting himself until he was treading water again, Harry noticed that Ron had moved closer. The splashing was probably just him moving rather than actually splashing him this time. Ron's chest was very captivating and he noticed himself staring at it as it moved closer to him. His muscles rippled slightly as Ron moved somewhat gracefully through the water until he stopped about a meter away.
The water dripping down Ron's face from his red hair was clearer now, before Harry could really even think about it, he impulsively launched himself at Ron's torso. Thankfully the pond was so shallow and Ron so tall, since he had put his feet down to support Harry who had wrapped his legs around Ron's back.
Ron's expression was briefly surprised but then more puzzled and amused.
"Maybe a bit of warning next time?" His voice came out softly and Harry found himself warmer than he had been just a minute ago but not minding in the slightest. In fact, he adjusted his legs to bring Ron even closer to him and pulled himself up slightly so that the two of their faces were aligned. Ron was smiling softly at him and Harry couldn't stop himself from closing what little distance there was between the two of them.
Ron eagerly accepted his kiss and his tongue in his mouth as it explored all the little crevices trying to figure out what Ron had for breakfast. He felt hands on his shoulders. Harry used his hands to grab the back of Ron's neck.
Harry placed his head on the top of Ron's chest when the two of them eventually pulled apart to breathe. Ron's hands started moving to his back and then lower and lower. Harry froze for a second before remembering this was an isolated pond and not many people came here much less used it. He moved his own hands up as Ron's continued their slow trek down.
"I love heat waves," Harry whispered mostly to himself as he started searching Ron's mouth again. If all of them turned out like this he wouldn't mind having one every day.
