Chapter 7

Upon arriving at apartment 2J, Mama Knight, Katie, Logan, James, and Carlos entered. Kelly and Gustavo weren't far behind them and would be there any moment. The ride home had been challenging because Kendall kept asking all sorts of questions the whole time, but that was what you got with someone who didn't remember anything. Settling in, Kendall looked around with slight interest while trying his best to remember anything he'd been told all afternoon. Things were so confusing for Kendall, and he felt terrible for some reason when he saw all the sad faces before him. Everyone spread out over the apartment, tired from the long day, and Kendall looked around in awe.

"Do you remember anything about the apartment?" James questions with slight interest at his blonde friend as he raises an eyebrow.

Kendall blinks as the whole group watches him. He frowns as he tries to think; he says. "I remember seeing it before, but that's all.
I'm sorry I wish I could remember everything you've all told me about, but I seem not to be able to for some reason…." Kendall finishes as he trails off the sad faces returning once more.

"That's alright, sweetheart, just take your time." Mama Knight explains sweetly as she side hugs Kendall; Kendall nods and lays his head on her shoulder, feeling comfort in all this for once;
he also wanted to comfort his mom.

However, when all seemed calmed, the apartment door burst open, revealing Gustavo and Kelly. Both came storming in and looking out of breath as if they ran to the Palmwoods.
Kendall jumped at the sound of the door, and he also backed up behind his mother as the two came storming over to him. Kendall had been introduced to the two, but he was still unsure of them.

Kelly and Gustavo stopped a few inches away from them to catch their breath before speaking.

"We do not have time for him to "take his time" we need him to get his memory back now!" Gustavo states as he flails his hands around to emphasize his point.
"If we do not get it back, Griffin will have my head, and the boy's careers will be over! Big Time Rush will be over!" Gustavo yells as he stomps a foot down, causing the floor to shake some.

"First of all, Gustavo, calm down now…." Mama Knight demands as she points the finger at the more prominent man. She then glares at him, "Secondly, I understand what is at stake here! But it isn't just about the band, and it is about Kendall. Right now, he needs us to support him and know we are here to help him and not yell at him nor pressure him. It's not his fault this happened to him, so back off, and we will figure this out together." Mama Knight finishes simply as she places a hand on her hip and eyes the man seriously.

Silence fills the room as everyone is surprised at Mama Knight's stand up to Gustavo. The man before her blinks and looks at her without being able to speak. Kendall still stands behind his mother as he watches the scene before him; he frowns more confused than ever but doesn't say anything in fear of making things worse. The tension in the air made everyone stare at one another for a while, and Mama Knight was still eyeing Gustavo waiting for a reply.

The man finally opened his mouth, "Fine, and you have a point. But we need to tell him about Big Time Rush and have him re-learn everything." Gustavo finishes with a frown.

Nodding, Kelly smiles, "That's not a bad idea. I did some research in the car on the way here on my phone, and it said that if you show a person who's lost their memories,
items, or things he did everyday basis, it might help him regain some of his memories…." Kelly finishes with a soft smile at everyone.

"We could try that, and it might just work!" Logan states with a smile. "Good idea Kelly."

"Thank you," Kelly states as she pats Logan on the shoulder.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever will work to get it back. If Griffin finds out - " Gustavo begins again for the millionth time that night.

"We know!" Mama Knight interrupts as she shakes her head and glares at the man. "Right now, though, it's getting late. We all need to get some sleep. Let us have a day tomorrow with Kendall, and then Friday, they will be in the studio first thing in the morning. That's the only way I will agree to things, Gustavo." Mama Knight finishes seriously as she eyes him; she stopped him from interrupting her. But now, she was done speaking.

Sighing, Gustavo frowns. "Fine, meanwhile, tomorrow I'll have to tell Griffin that Kendall is only sick, with a cold or something. So he might not be at his full energy. That should help us buy, some time." Gustavo finishes as he eyes Kendall with a sad look on his face.

With that, Kelly and Gustavo leave the apartment for the night. James and Carlos head off to bed, all while Katie does too. Katie, however, hugs Kendall and tells him goodnight before going to her room. Mama Knight goes to bed as well, telling Kendall if he needed anything to wake her up. Logan takes Kendall to their shared room. Once inside the room, Logan shows Kendall which side of the room is his. After answering a few of Kendall's questions and showing him where his things were on his side of the room, the two were finally lying in bed.

Both of them fell asleep instantly…

Logan woke up the following day to find Kendall not in his bed. Looking over at his alarm, Logan sighs and gets up as it reads seven-thirty on the dot. Getting up, Logan gets ready for the day, brushing his teeth and getting dressed in comfy clothes. Once he's good, he goes out to the main den of the apartment. There he finds Mama Knight making breakfast while Kendall is on the couch with Katie and Jo. The tv is on in the background, but none of them aren't paying any attention to it. Logan can see that Katie and Jo are talking to Kendall, no doubt answering more questions or trying to explain who Jo is and that she's Kendall's girlfriend.

"Morning Mama Knight, how are you? Need any help with anything?" Logan questions as he comes up to the counter with a smile.

"Good morning Logan, I'm okay, thank you. How are you? Can you help set the table? That would be a huge help!" Mama Knight states as she smiles back at the boy.

"Sure thing, your welcome, and I are good, thank you," Logan answers as he starts helping set the table for all of them; he even makes a place for Jo just in case. Logan looks at Mama Knight after he is done, and he sighs, "Any luck Mama Knight? Does he remember anything at all?" Logan questions with hope as he looks over at the three on the couch again.

At this, Mama Knight looks up and frowns, and she shakes her head lightly. "Not that I'm aware of no. He only knows what we have told him so far. I wasn't expecting him to remember right away anyway. But I found some tricks and trips to try that might help him. So we are going to give it a go after breakfast." Mama Knight smiles at Logan as she puts some pancakes on a plate. She hands the plate to Logan, who holds it for it.

"That's a good idea, and it should hopefully help!" Logan states with a smile.

With that said, Mama Knight has breakfast ready and calls everyone to eat. By this point, James and Carlos had woken up and instantly rushed to the table for food. Mama Knight, Logan, Katie, Carlos, James, Kendall, and even Jo were all at the breakfast table that morning. Everyone chattered a little, but no one held a conversation for too long; it still felt wrong to do so around Kendall. Meanwhile, Kendall looked at the group of people before him and tried to listen as they spoke, seeing if he could pick up on anything that would help his memories; otherwise, he mainly eats in silence, waiting for the awkward breakfast to be over.

Once breakfast was over, James and Carlos went down to the hotel's pool to relax. Logan stayed up to study his medical books some and hang out with Kendall. Jo had to leave by the time because she had work that morning; Katie left to go to the main lobby to try and make some new friends while Mama Knight cleaned up. After she cleaned up, Logan watched as she disappeared from the room for a moment and soon came back with some items in her hand. She came over to the couch with Logan and Kendall, sitting between the boys instantly.

"Alright, Kendall, in my hands, I have some of your favorite things." Mama Knight states with a smile as she sets the stuff on the table. She then holds up what appears to be two scrapbooks. She smiles, "I also have two scrapbooks. The first one has pictures of you growing up, and the second one has all your accompaniments, including stuff from Big Time Rush. Here take a look." Mama Knight finishes as she hands Kendall the first scrapbook.

Taking the book, Kendall eyes her and Logan with a nervous look. But then he opens it, and on the first page, he sees his full name in black letters, a recent picture of him, and the year/day he was born. Instantly for some reason, Kendall smiles at it. Flipping the page, Kendall is meet with baby pictures of him, and his mother explains things to him as he looks through the scrapbook. Kendall stops as he comes across his thirteenth birthday. Instantly he recognizes his mother and Katie, but then he smiles, seeing three other minor boys with them as well.

" - Are these little boys James, Carlos, and Logan?" Kendall questions as he eyes the picture and points them out to Logan and his mother.

His mother and Logan nod at it. Logan says, "Yup, that's us! That was the first year all four of us had become friends. I just moved from Texas and was new; Carlos and James picked on me when you came up and told them to leave me alone. Then we hung out, and you re-introduced me to the two, and they sucked it up because you told them I was part of the group now, whether they liked it or not. Guess it worked out because all four of us have been friends since!" Logan finishes with a smile as he also studies the picture.

Kendall then looks at it a little more, but he moves on. He continues looking through things and sees younger him wearing hockey gear in various pictures, and Mama Knight explained his genuine love and obsession with the sport. Finally, the book was coming to a close as Kendall reaches the last few pages of his current age; he sees him with the guys in front of Big Time Rush stuff. He seemed to have been amazed at how much of himself has changed over the years. Finally, after studying the last few pages, he closes the book at smiles at the two.

"So, what did you think?" Mama Knight questions as she raises an eyebrow at her son.

Silence follows for a moment as Kendall seems to be mulling things over in his head. Logan and Mama Knight watch with desperation and hope. Kendall continues to look around the apartment in silence for a moment until his eyes widen a little bit; he looked at the two with him.

"I think….I think I remember something…." Kendall began as the two watch him. Kendall keeps thinking, and he says slowly. "I remember...Jamie wanted to audition for that man who was in here earlier, so we took him...but then he called Jamie untalented and I r-remember getting mad. I was mad that he insulted not only Logie but Jamie as well. So I went up and called him out on it, and the man showed up at our house and w-wanted to sign me; he chose me. Then we came out here, and this is why we are in this apartment, right? But that's all I seem to remember at the moment…." Kendall explains as he stares into space while trying to remember.

Logan and Mama Knight smile, sure; it wasn't a lot at the moment, but it was working. This process may be slow, but the two knew they were not giving up on Kendall, just like they knew they weren't giving up on Big Time Rush. If Kendall got that memory back from just looking at photos, maybe there was hope, and perhaps some other methods would also help.

Time would only tell at this point...
