A/N: Long time fanfic reader, first time writer.

Episode 10 of the revival was my absolute favourite, I was laughing out loud as I watched it! This little idea appeared in my mind and the lack of fanfiction surrounding the revival at the moment made me jump in and give writing a go.

Constructive criticism is very welcome!

Carly's eyes fluttered open and promptly shut again as they registered the morning sun, not so gracefully peeking through from behind the curtains. Her head was pounding, mouth was dry and the once unbelievably comfortable bed now did nothing for her.

Rolling her shoulders back further into the mattress she dared face the blinding light once more. This time she squinted towards the bedside table in an effort to locate her phone. As her eyes adjusted lazily to the number display, her foot made contact with something warm and heavy.

Dazed, she poked the mass with her foot again, brushing it in an effort to determine what exactly was preventing her from spreading out. To her surprise it moved, swatting her foot away.

Glancing up from her phone she discovered a very naked Brooke, sprawled across the duvet.

Carly's eyes widened. No longer concerned about the light she took in the scene around her; Dishevelled clothes tossed carelessly across the floor. Her bra hanging over a lamp. Chocolate wrappers scattered in every direction. Wait…Was that a smear of chocolate on the inside of Brooke's thigh?

Then she spotted it, an inconspicuous piece of rubbish in amongst the chocolates; a single, discarded, very empty condom wrapper.

She jolted, sitting upwards and coming to a sudden halt. Time stood still as she turned towards the other body in the bed. Sure enough! She would recognise that head anywhere. Even from behind as he slept, face first, lightly snoring.

Freddie.

"Damn it" she groaned as the night before came flooding back.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it"

Panic grabbed hold of her with its nasty claws and her mind went spinning as horrible possibility after horrible possibility paraded itself before her. What had she done?

She had really screwed up. Freddie was still fragile, still getting over his divorce and had only just started getting back out there and dating again. Why, at the first opportunity, had she jumped into bed with him?

She had been there to pick up the pieces as his marriage fell apart, both times! She knew he wasn't as fine with it as he pretended to be. She knew he was still heartbroken, heck even his daughter was aware of just how hurt he was.

Millicent! Oh crap, Millicent would murder her. If there was one person more protective of Freddie right now then her, it was his step daughter. If she caught wind of any of this Carly would be done for.

"Calm down" Carly told herself. Millicent was a child for god's sake! And parents don't go around sharing details of their sordid affairs with their kids. There would be absolutely no reason for Millicent's protective streak to suddenly be directed towards Carly.

"Everything will be fine" she sighed, concentrating on her breathing as she tried to get a hold of herself.

Unless, of course, Sam found out.

Oh boy if Sam found out they would never hear the end of it! She would tease them mercilessly. Tell them how disgusted she was. Make a show about how surprised she was. Go on and on about how if she had to bet on which of the three of them would end up in an unexpected threesome with a childhood friend her money would be on herself, not them.

Shit, Carly had really gone and screwed everything up. The two of them were in such a good place before last night. They had both come so far over the years and were genuinely close, supportive friends.

Gone were the days of unrequited love and taking advantage of crushes. They had moved on and grown from their young, immature selves. They were a constant support for each other. But one night had gone and fucked it all up.

A soft, seductive whisper pulled Carly from her panic spiral.

"Good morning you." Brooke smirked at Carly as she unabashedly stretched, completely unbothered by her state of undress.

Carly, however, grabbed a fistfull of blanket and forced it up against her neck, hiding herself from view. As she pulled the covers towards herself they slid away from where they had been covering Freddie. The bare skin of his lower back and the beginning of the curve of his ass now proudly on display. She caught herself staring and diverted her eyes towards the ceiling.

"We really worked up an appetite last night" Brooke purred. "I'm starving."

Standing up, Brooke stretched again, before turning to Carly

"I'm going to go grab breakfast downstairs, do you want to join me?"

Carly shook her head, keeping a firm grip on her security blanket.

"No worries!" Brooke shrugged cheerfully before dressing in her clothes from the night before and skipping out the door.

Carly let out a breath she didn't realise she had been holding. She loosened her grip on the bed covers and turned to check that Freddie was still sleeping.

Her gaze hovered over him, taking a moment to take in the sight before her. She drinked in his relaxed body and allowed her mind to bring her back to the night before, remembering the way he had held his weight above her while…

Blushing, Carly reprimanded herself. Catching her mind in a moment of weakness she hurriedly looked away.

Now was not the time to start lusting over her best friend! She needed an escape.

Perhaps, if she could just get herself into the bathroom without waking Freddie, she could shower away these dirty feelings and pretend everything was normal. They could move on with life and return to how things had been up until only a day ago.

She judged the distance from the bed to the bathroom door and decided it would be a very quick escape. But her clean clothes were in her suitcase which was, of course, on the opposite wall.

Walking through the route from bed, to suitcase, to bathroom in her mind she decided the risk of being caught wandering around the room naked was too high. She gave the duvet a pull, testing if it could come with her, but the fabric travelling across Freddie's bare skin caused him to stir.

She stopped, glancing back at Freddie to make sure he hadn't been woken.

Relieved to find him still asleep she promptly returned to plotting. Her eyes began to dance around the room before she spotted a saving grace.

One of the hotel robes was hanging over the arm of the couch, it wasn't very far at all. She could easily reach it and put it on before making her way to her suitcase.

With a plan now devised Carly began to slowly swing her legs out of the bed, being careful not to make any sudden movements or dramatically change the weight distribution on the mattress. As her feet touched the floor she gingerly stood up and took her first steps before noticing the silence within the room. The steady hum of Freddie's light snores had stopped.

She turned back to the bed to find Freddie grinning up at her.

"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes" he drawled.

Carly crossed the distance from bed to couch in record time, shrugging the robe over her shoulders and tying the cord with her back turned to him.

Freddie, noticing her anxiety, lost his grin and turned to sit up, cross legged on the bed with the covers over his lap.

Robe secured, Carly turned and gave Freddie a disapproving look.

Second guessing himself he cast his eyes down, before raising them again and capturing Carly's gaze.

They both stayed put, a thick tension building in the room.

Carly broke the awkward eye contact first, scurrying towards her suitcase, hands throwing unneeded items aside in an effort to find her clothes. Locating her belongings she turned on her heels and headed towards the bathroom, locking herself inside.

Freddie groaned as he rubbed his eyes and slouched forward, allowing his head to hang. His fleeting moment of bliss as he woke up had given way to regret as his mood had shifted to mirror Carly's. The whiplash was exhausting.

The muffled sound of the shower turning on cut through his thoughts and his mind began to wander to Carly in the next room. He pictured her body, with no need for any added help from his imagination, as she tested the temperature of the water.

The night before had been very informative and new discoveries started to play in his mind. Soft noises, a birthmark, 5 lone freckles floating just below her hip like a constellation.

Freddie relaxed and lowered himself backwards, laying down with his hands behind his head.

"Screw it" he thought, as his tight lips gave way to a dopey smile. Last night had been fun, he knew Carly had enjoyed herself too. He wasn't going to let this become awkward.

They had been best friends since they were children and he knew her almost better than he knew himself. She was going to send herself silly panicking for a moment, that's just what she did. But if he remained calm she would settle down. Their friendship was too solid and too important to let embarrassment take hold.

The two of them had been through strange, romantic complications in the past which had only brought them closer, why should this be any different?

Everything was going to turn out just fine.
