It was in the late PM, and Operative 9068 (known as Mike) was on a building rooftop, scope aimed steadily on the living room window of the Finster's house.
"Why do I feel that we're being spied on?" Kira asked her family.
"Spied on?" Kimi asked, curious.
"Yes... by that assassin who rescued you earlier, Kimi."
Chuckie spoke up. "Mom, calm down. He's just ensuring our safety, and that no one would do something as horrible as to kidnap Kimi... or any of us."
Kira sighed in relief after hearing her son's explanation. "Thank goodness."
Just seconds later, Kimi remembered the conversation in the car with Mike about her biological father's vineyard in Japan. She asked her mother. "Oh yeah, Mom. You think we might go to Japan at some point to take care of Dad's vineyard?"
"I don't know, Kimi," she replied. "He already passed away remember? But I can see that you wanna take care of his vineyards."
Kimi just grinned and nodded, tears coming to her eyes remembering her father in Japan. Last time he met her was years ago when she was in Jr High. But just then a sudden phone call interrupted her, and she answered it.
"Hello?" she asked into the phone.
"Is this Kimi Finster?" a certain voice asked.
"Yes. Uh, who is this?"
"My name doesn't matter. But I have something to show you... about your real father... and your assassin friend."
"You mean Mike?"
"Yes. If you want to learn the truth about them both, be at the park no later than 3 PM tomorrow. Don't bring your friends, your family... no one," the voice instructed before clicking the line off.
"Who was that, Kimi?" Kira asked, she, Chuck and Chaz all gazed at her curiously.
"Uh... just someone pranking us," she fibbed. "Well, guess it's time for bed."
Kira spotted the time and figured she's right. So they all head to their respective rooms for bed. While Kimi's in her room, she paced up and down thinking of this guy's message... and the so-called truth.
'Maybe I should go to the park tomorrow... just to make sure,' she thought to herself before finally preparing herself for bed.
The next day arrived, and Kimi was alone at the park when she spotted a familiar face.
'It can't be," she thought to herself as she saw Jean-Claude, Coco's assistant and foe back when she was a rugrat back in Paris. But she plucked up the courage to approach him, being cautious.
"What do you want?" Kimi asked him. "Didn't you do enough damage already to us?!"
JC gazed at her and remembered the pain he and his former boss caused to her and Kira. They nearly destroyed their lives back then when Chaz nearly married Coco just for her own gain. But this time he meant no harm whatsoever.
"Relax, Kimi. I just vant to gave jou zis," he calmly answered in his French accent. He handed her a file which read "CLASSIFIED".
She grabbed it, but didn't read it... She knew better than to read it in front of her old adversary.
"I don't know what you want, Jean-Claude, but you're not hurting my family," she growled.
"I'm not hurtng you or your family; I just vant jou to learn ze truth of jour real father. Wether jou believe it or not, that's up to jou..." he told her before getting up from his bench and left.
As Kimi's alone, she read the file he handed her, and she couldn't believe what she read. The file turned out to be Mike's contract to eliminate her father in Japan. At that, she began to tear up and break down, having realized that he's telling the truth. She then decided to return home, not acknowledging her family there until she entered her room, where she starts sobbing, feeling both pain and anger. This attracts her mother's attention.
"Kimi?" Her mother asked after knocking on her room door, "What happened?"
Kimi was too teared up to explain to her in words so she just handed her the file of the assassination.
"What's this?" she curiously asked as she's reading it. Minutes later she had the same reaction as her daughter, tears welling up her eyes and breaking down seconds later.
"He... he was responsible for my husband's death?!" Kira raged in tears.
"I know..." Kimi sniffed. "We... must confront him...'
Both ladies attempted to search for the hitman, but he's nowhere to be found. It wasn't surprising... the man's practically a ghost, a myth. They demanded an explanation from him regardless. It took them five days to track him down. It was dangerous to do this themselves. They could've asked help from Charlotte to send someone to track him down, but they knew Mike very well. The man would be dead in a heartbeat the instant Mike thought he's being tracked. They'd easily be just as dead. They both thought he'd put a bullet in their skulls for this, but they were hoping they'd have the time to explain and possibly be spared.
The current safehouse Mike had chosen was underground, long abandoned by public works, and just barely within the city's limits. There was no way he'd hear their approach, with click of their comfortable pumps echoing in the underground space. It took twenty minutes to make their way into the inner sanctum, where they both spotted the barest edge of what appeared to be... something. It's hard to tell if this was they'd been looking for as the tunnel turned off at that point, and all they could see was a box with a cloth covered mound of what was probably weaponry or supplies. But as Kimi and Kira moved on, a figure grabs Kira and used her as a human shield.
"Try anything foolish, I'll take you out. Who else is with you?" he demanded, aiming his 1911 at Kimi. It didn't need a silencer as no one would hear him shoot them.
"We're alone," Kimi answered. "Now put that gun away; we need to talk,"
Mike's weapon and didn't move while Kira struggled in his grasp. "You two have been searching for me," he noted dryly.
Kimi's throat was suddenly dry, and she swallowed whatever saliva she had to try and lubricate it. She and Kira shouldn't have been surprised; Mike was at the top for a reason.
"You both would've kept looking," Mike said, his tone rarely changed. "I should kill you."
"We just want to talk," she said to him a second time. "Now please let my mom go."
He released Kira from his human shield, and both ladies visibly relaxed as he slid his 1911 back into its holster.
They'd almost forgotten how imposing the man was. He was currently without the jacket or tie, the first three buttons undone, double-holster secured over the shirt. They also spotted boxes full of supplies containing ammo, weapons and his array of tools. On the far wall was a cot and an empty crate where his laptop was. For a moment, the ladies wondered how he got WiFi there... but they figured he had his old rolling clothing rack served as his wardrobe, containing several of his clothes. He was usually seen in his flat for the most part, but they must've figured this underground safehouse served to plan and conduct business.
The air grew in thick silence before Mike spoke again. "If you two do anything like that again, I will end you."
Both Kira and Kimi nodded a 'yes' before he turned around, and Kira took out a trigger from her pocket on her right hand.
"Sorry I have to do this. But this a necessary evil," Kira told him as she triggered neurotoxin on the hitman.
"What... have you... done?" Mike asked, weakened before falling to his knees.
"Neurotoxin... Transfers by touch," she said in tears. "My husband..."
"My dad..." Kimi added, also in tears. "We know what you did."
"After all these years, we both finally know..." Kira finished before rolling the assassin over.
"I am... sorry..." Mike weakly apologized.
"We'll give you one chance... Tell us... why?" Kira asked with determination.
"Why did you kill him?!" Kimi demanded. Needless to say that both demanded answers from him, as they both lost their husband and father... no to mention the fact that he's killed by the man they both befriended with.
"I'm just an assassin. And I always complete my contract. he was my target that day..." Mike explained.
"You think... we're gonna buy... your reason?! You killed my husband without any morality?!" Kira scorned.
At this, Mike's too weak to answer. So they both just left him to rot and returned home.
The minute the Watanabe-Finsters returned home, Chaz and Chuck were waitng in the living room.
"Mom? Kimi?" Chuckie asked. "What happened? Why are you both crying and upset?"
"We know the truth... of... my real dad..." Kimi said in between sobs. "Mike murdered him in Japan."
Chaz and Chuckie both gasped at hearing this.
"He killed him?" Chaz asked, shocked while comforting his wife.
"Mmhmm... and now I... fear that we might die next!"
Moments later the doorbell rang, and Chaz answered the door, only to find the other parents outside the door.
"Anything I can help you with?" he offered.
"We noticed Kira and Kimi in tears," Didi told him. "We might think something's off."
At that Chaz let them in, and Kira explained about Mike's assassination contract on her husband in Japan. This shocked them, and they all comforted her.
"Oh Kira, I'm so sorry... I didn't know he was responsible for your husband," Charlotte said, rubbing Kira's back as she comforted her.
"Did he even tell you why he did that?" Betty asked.
"Well... whatever... his reason... he won't bring my husband back..." Kira sniffed in between sobs.
Meanwhile in Kimi's room, Chuckie was comforting his sister, who was still sobbing in tears.
"Kimi... I... I'm sorry about your biological dad. I had no idea Mike was responsible for his death," he told her.
"N-nobody knew... and now... I fear for our lives!" she wailed.
"I'll be by your side; not even he can get past me."
"It's no use, Chuck... Not... even... you can take him down given you're the muscle here... If anything he can slit your throat, Mom's, Dad's... even everyone else before you even realize it."
Just then his mobile rang with Tommy's name on the caller ID.
"Hello?" Chuckie asked.
"Yo, Chuck. Wanna come by my place?"
"Sure... Also got something important to tell you."
"Okay, see you there."
Kimi and Chuck arrived at Tommy's place, where the rest of the group was waiting as well.
"Hey, Kimi." Tommy greeted. "Why are you in tears?"
As Chuck and Kimi sat on the sofa, they explained about Mike's contract in Japan, which shocked them all in fear.
"Okay, so.. are we hiring a dozen bodyguards now?" Phil piped in.
"...I don't think that would stop him, Phil," Lil told him.
"She's right, Phil... When he rescued me he swiftly killed more than a dozen bad guys... and he survived without a single gunshot wound," Kimi explained. They knew she was right; no one would survive an encounter that intense.
"Which also brings another point; why does he keep protecting us when he already did something as terrible as murdering Kimi's dad?" Chuckie asked curiously.
"...Maybe because he eventually found out about his target and felt really bad," Lil suggested.
"Come on, Lil. Since when does he show morality?" Dil objected.
"Hard to tell since he usually doesn't show any emotion," Kimi agreed.
