One and a half years passed by since Mike was 'killed' before being brought to life again, and the massacre of Jean-Claude and his henchmen. No traces... no clues... nothing. He simply vanished, and no one had a damn clue where he went.
The group were at the Java lava along with Kira, who was taking care of the place. Not even they had an idea of where the assassin might hide in. But at least they were all safe from harm. No one was coming after them, especially with Jean-Claude dead. Right now they were sat in silence, just staring down at the table. They wanted him dead for Hiro's murder, and they literally almost did when Angelica jabbed him in the neck. But they also revived him, having heard of the French man's plot to kill them once he was cremated. Sure they felt safe when he was watching over them, but since he wasn't, they felt... kind of empty.
"It's been a while since we last saw Mike, eh?" Lil asked, attempting to start a conversation.
"Yeah... he's pretty much a ghost," Susie told her.
"But you can't expect him to not kill us; this guy's unpredictable," Phil chimed in.
"And he might not forgive us for almost killing him... Even though I forgive him for killing my husband..." Kira added.
Her daughter turned to her with shock. "Mom? What do you mean?"
"I realized now... it wasn't his fault. He didn't know at the time..."
At that she broke down sobbing, thinking of her husband. Kimi and the others sighed and comforted her now.
"I realized now that he only kills untouchable criminals and terrorists... and that he was set up at the time..." she sighed.
"And your husband was an unfortunate victim," Chuckie said.
"Yes..." Kira sniffed. "But I hope he knows that we forgive him for that, and that he forgives us for killing him."
"Okay, that's a lot of forgiveness and hope involved," Phil told her. The others agreed. They do hoped that Mike would forgive them... considering it's been eighteen months since his last presence.
Another month passed by. And 9068 was in Japan visiting Hiro's grave. Though the weather right now there was freezing cold with the snow, temperatures below 15 degrees Fahrenheit , he didn't mind the weather; he worked with temperatures much worse before. As this happened, he contacted Kira's number. Surprisingly enough, she knew he was on her caller ID.
"It's been a long time, Mike..." she spoke. He just replied with a low "hmm" tone.
"So... are you calling to tell me I'm dying now, or..." she started again before being cut off.
"No," was his only response.
She sighed in relief. "I just wanna say... after these years of your actions especially on my husband... I forgive you. And... I just wanna apologize for 'killing' you back then. Guess we do need you to eliminate bad men like Jean-Claude."
"There will always be people like them, so there will always be people like me," he spoke in his usual calm tone.
She sighed again and nodded. "Then... take care, please."
He replied with a simple "Mm-hmm" before disconecting the line.
Moments later, Kimi noticed her mother just sitting there on the couch, setting her smartphone down. 'Wonder who she was speaking to,' she thought to herself.
She approached her. "Mom... is something wrong?"
"No, Kimi. Just contacted your assassin friend... He just visited your father's grave in Japan," Kira told her.
Kimi just stood there without a word at the mention of Mike. She probably thought he was gonna assassinate them for practically killing him. She really didn't know how she'd react if she saw Mike again. She knew anyone who'd cross him would never survive... even if it meant the gang. But Kira walked towards her before placing her hands on her daughter's shoulders.
"He's not gonna come after us, Kimi. He's forgiven us for killing him just as I forgave him when he killed Hiro," she told her.
Kimi calmed down and was relieved at this. "Okay, that's good to hear." She was relieved he wasn't gonna kill her or her family or anyone else.
Meanwhile back in Japan, the hitman just placed a rose on Hiro's tombstone and let out a light sigh. 'Always knew I never belonged in this world. I wasn't made for this. But I'll never forget those who betrayed me, and those who never failed my trust. I'll be carrying nothing from here but this lesson: trust no one and rely on your instincts. Forget the past; I'll never find peace here. So, I'll seek justice for myself. I'll choose the truth I like.'
As if Hiro's spirit could sense his thoughts, some gentle wind touched his face, as if his victim has just forgiven him. He turned around and started walking away, continuing his life as a hitman, only killing untouchable crime lords or global figures who would become corrupt with power. That was his calling.
The End
